Help for a noob
I am just going to say this to start off that I am a noob. I have three characters(33 warlock, 32 hunter, and a 30 titan) that I would like to try to get to level 34 by the time that The Taken King comes out. I don't have very many friends that play destiny and the majority of my characters levels I got them to by myself. I have only gone through the vault of glass on normal mode once on my warlock and never gone through crota's end on any of my characters. I have gone through the level 28 prison of elders on my warlock a few times but never anything above that and never touched the house of wolves dlc missions on my other two characters. Any advice or help that there is to offer is greatly appreciated.

Do what DeadlyMenace said and also do the weekly strike on level 32 on all characters and buy some exotic gear from Xûr. Each piece of exotic gear is 13 strange coins you get 9 for doing it on 32 so 9 x 3 =27 so with just those coins you can get two pieces of armor with a coin leftover and from Prison of Elders you get 3-10 strange coins every run.

Easiest way is to do PoE 32 and get some armour cores to buy variks gear. The other ways are work the iron banner for etheric light or do 34 PoE. They're both quite a grind. Etheric light nightfall drops are very thin on the ground in my experience
