Edit: thanks to everyone who replied and i don't take anything personal. This debate was a provocation and got some pretty interesting responses. I made a statement and everyone fired away, I thought it was awesome fun. And no hard feelings, i welcome being challenged.
So, I've been seeing all these debates about god vs science, creationism, big bang etc etc. And I'm not sure what rock everyone's living under, but that question, at least here on Earth, has already been answered. Like.... 3 and a half years ago.
In 2012, as probably some of you may know, (and clearly most apparently don't, otherwise I'd see this come up in debates) this certain particle was discovered to create mass from matter by a group called CERN, maybe you've heard of them. They're a very prestigious and well funded nuclear research facility that employs only the absolute most brilliant minds in science. They are officially sponsored by 21 major governments and have been around for 60 plus years.
This particle is called the Higgs Boson particle. This is a particle that has only been rumored to exist in the past. And they've been searching for it since and long before the inception of CERN itself. Essentially, this particle is the building block of creation, or more specifically, the particle that turns matter into real, actual, tangible, touchable, physical mass. Essentially proving what it actually is that is responsible for mass itself. Everyone can debate all they like. Just know that you're a little behind the times if you still debate the same old shıt.

EDIT: To clarify, this particle is what debunks the ideology that presumes God created all things. Giving the actual credit to the particle.
Also, we already know this is old news. If you post here and only say this is old news, then evidently you have only read the title. I have already said this is old news. Read further.
Next edit: To those who say this proves nothing, my reply is that it proves the particle is in fact a creator while it has not been proven that god has created anything. There's proof of creation, but it can only be credited to the particle. Not to god. This is also an answer to those who say it has no relevancy to the debate about god. Particle = proven creation. God = no proof yet. Please continue. If anything, it's interesting.
Sure, another edit, taken from another comment in this thread.
What i am saying is that with the discovery of this particle, it explains that mass is created from the collision of this particle and others to create mass. This infers that there are any number of particular forms of mass that may or may not be created as a result. The compounds that coalesce to perhaps create environmental balances, actual orgsnisms and compounds that interact with other compounds to create yet more. This entire post presumes you understood the implication of such a thing. And how it relates to the possibility that life on this planet could have been created from molecular compounds that interacted with each other because of this particle. Higgs boson is a part of a field of such particles, and the boson type particle is the particular particle that physicists observed to be consistent with this.

Hig boson is the smallest thing in the world? So its just as big as your penis then
-
Interesting. Are you familiar with dark matter?

3 Respuestasso? does any of this matter? why does everyone have to be so negative? you should be charged for having to debate this. this isn't my favourite field.

4 RespuestasIt's all wrong. All science is wrong. And in 1000 years all our knowledge will be considered juvenile and err. We are still stuck on this rock. We know nothing about the universe.
-
1 RespuestaMaybe God used the particle to create everything, who knows. When he created the oceans he didn't say, "Let there be hydrogen and oxygen and salt" or anything like that, he just did it. And it was good :). Science will never be able to 100% without a doubt disprove God.
-
4 RespuestasApparently it's still debatable according to these comments. I stand by my beliefs, but this is all interesting.

What is a hog bison? Is that some new type of wild game?

Editado por Homey: 6/11/2015 3:02:19 PMHiggs Boson is merely a hypothetical elementary particle(that we have much to learn about) that has zero spin and large mass and that is required by some gauge theories to account for the masses of other elementary particles. How does this disprove God? The Higgs boson didn't create everything, cause then people might worship it, it just accounts for matter having mass
-
tl;dr Something something, science. Blah blah blah, words followed by more words. Physics n' shit. Something something, God ain't real.

10 RespuestasEh, you're missing some key distinctions that I think are important. The Higgs boson itself is meaningful only it that it process an existence of the Higgs field, which is responsible for providing mass. However, the mass provided I'd only a non-majority portion. The binding energy of quarks still account for 99 percent of the mass of any traditional matter, with the rest being from the mass of the quarks themselves induced from interactions with the Higgs field.

9 RespuestasEditado por Hopeinmo: 6/9/2015 10:40:09 PMI am a lil confused by this part
this certain particle was discovered to create mass from matter

turns matter into real, actual, tangible, touchable, physical mass
If you, like me, know what matter and mass are, then if you read that, this statement is as confusing to you as it is to me... (I assume OP is trying to put in their own words and that is why I m laughing at such a claim)

3 RespuestasEssentially, this particle was the creator of all matter?
-
3 RespuestasIsn't matter anything tangible? And, isn't mass just a measurement of matter? You're basically saying they turned apples into ounces. Am I missing something?
-
3 RespuestasUntil you can show me video proof of how the universe was formed, i will never believe that a single molecule formed it

Nercobump

6 RespuestasWhich means that God created the particle.

The real question now is: Which came first, the god or the particle?

thank god particle

You dont physics bruh, just stahp.

2 RespuestasI'm Christian, but I love science and I find this very interesting. Must we use this particle as evidence to argue against believers and non believers? Can't we focus our efforts on utilizing the particle for the betterment of humanity? Such backwards arguing when we should be thinking of ways to use the particle to benefit the world. We will get nowhere from using our scientific discoveries to support Archaic arguments.

I love science!

1 RespuestaHiggs Bison? Oh I remember them! I like water buffalo.

2 RespuestasHow many religious believers have said/argued that god has made this particle? I am interested to know. It's impressive the amount of science developments/ discoveries have came to light the last few years.
