They very much did try to build a following and in my opinion is because people are hesitating to make the upgrade. I've seen in other comments "why get a new piece of hardware when mine isn't broken" as true as that may be the support for last gen is going to dwindle more than it has already. I don't see any deal breaking issues with destiny (even though lots of other people scream it so loudly). I'd say that a lot of people are very spoiled into thinking all our nothing. With the community voicing issues and the developers making steps in the right direction I see that people are just very impatient. I will happily be purchasing all the foreseeable dlc, it feeds into their money hungry hands but it also feeds my addiction for new content. The system is simple, you don't like don't buy. And just like they phased out the xbox for the 360 so they will for the 360 to XB1.

  • Yeah, eventually the last gen gravy train will slow to a trickle and they'll stop supporting it. They have to eventually but right now they're barely trying to pressure people and I think they're still earning enough that they haven't bothered with pressure tactics yet. But they will. As for the developers, they're hamstring by their corporate masters so they can only work with what they get. I like Destiny a lot too and yeah, there's some minor annoyances but the game at its core is solid and hopefully it'll grow into the hype they created for it. They've just done a bad job at communicating with their playerbase and a worse job dealing with their mistakes. I guess it really is a PR problem as much as anything else. Still though there are signs that there's no real competent leadership in place and that's something that really irritates me when it's a project this big that's funded this well. People are definitely impatient, there's no flaws in that statement but I think it's also fair to reasonably criticize some of the problems that have happened here. I don't personally think it's all or nothing, I have a lot of other hobbies besides gaming but I do really want this game to be as good as I think it can be in the right hands.

  • Yeah you are very right. I too hold bungie to a high standard seeing as they advertise high quality. And as you said I'm also waiting for it to grow into what they promised. As far as the impatient comment goes I didn't mean that directly toward you but more as a general statement to the community. The way I see it is a lot of these guys have spent upwards of 800 hours playing since launch and I see where they are coming from saying there's not enough stuff to do but that is just so much time did they not think they were going to hit a wall at some point?

  • Yeah, the shut in gaming addicts have their own set of problems to cope with. I don't take their complaints as anything but a cry for help. I didn't think you were calling me out for being impatient. I just thought it was a valid observation and wanted to comment.
