I just ran the boss section of hard Crota ~20 times. Each time, the Crota rocketeers were on point: rockets flew , as the swordbearer made it to Crota's feet as soon as he took a knee. Snipers tore ogres into pieces the moment they spawned. But our swordbearer... My Gosh, the Swordbearer... Every time it was something.
"Crota got up early!"
No, he actually didn't. I watched you fail the rock jump to reach him and run right into his sword.
"I was invis but he hit me!"
Yes, because you try to blink strike as his cleaver is crashing down on you.
"The sword unequipped for no reason!"
Oh. Really? It looked like you tried to get an extra hit in despite how he flashed orange.
Swordbearers: if you mess up, it's okay. I'm patient. But what makes me impatient is when you try to blame your mistakes on game glitches when in reality you've choked on the last hit of Crota 4 times, and try to blame it on some unheard of glitch that we all know is a total lie. I won't use another 49 heavy ammo synthesis on a swordbearer who cannot accept that he makes mistakes.
EDIT: I am not saying glitches do not happen, I simply state that in this run, they happened very little times. The 5 other guys with rockets watched the swordbearer make 20 mistakes this run. We DID NOT watch the game let Crota stand up early, or come back up swinging.
And yes, I have run sword. But, I don't blame my failures on glitches, more rather my own timing or communication.
EDIT 2: We're on latest. Thanks guys! I love the discussion going on. Keep it civil.
EDIT 3: If I must say it again, I don't care about swordbearer's mistakes. He can drop his controller on the final run, get killed by an ogre, I don't care. What I do mind is when the swordbearer complains about lag when in reality his latency is the best in the lobby and makes mistakes rarely associated with lag.
And 5 completions is a lot when you live in 2 households and don't get to play every weekend :*
EDIT 4: Many are saying I have no right to make this post if I don't run sword. This is very similar to saying that I can't call Justin Beiber a bad singer if I can't sing as good or better myself. Does this logic make sense? Your call.

Shit happens man....

1 RespuestaWith me running sward never takes more then 5 tries. Op needs to get gud.
-
All the time brother! We don't mind wiping, just don't try to maintain some superficial rep when we can see you been way too lazy mooching about crota's huge sword..
-
2 RespuestasThere is swordbearer glitches! You probably don't see it because you're probably too busy bitching about it!
-
2 Respuestas-blam!- you bitch You be the swordbearer than and deal with the -blam!-ing glitches!
-
I always do my job very easily on normal if we wipe it's usually because I made a slight mistake or something didn't register. Hard mode though... My fireteam always understands how much a dick the sword carrier is that runs to boomer tower or doesn't get flinch locked and one time he didn't come out, or when I'm about to get the last hit on Crota but he was down for only like 0.3 seconds.
-
4 RespuestasHow about the opposite? When the sword bearer is doing exactly what he should and people die on the way to or from the ogre tower. Or oops I fell off the platform. And after so many wipes people start getting pissed at the sword runner. Pretty easy to stand on a platform, shoot rockets and run in and out of the ogre room. Not rocket science. The sword runner is the only one who can't be brain dead and still complete their task so cut them some slack or run the sword yourself.
-
3 RespuestasThere is a degree of responsibility the swordbearer must take for his actions and failures. However, if you are not going to stand up and offer to run it, you have no right to bitch. Don't complain about someone doing the most difficult job in the raid when you aren't going to do it yourself.

3 RespuestasEditado por Daddy Chill (Adept): 3/22/2015 4:51:16 AMGonna put this out there: sword is only as hard as you make yourself believe it is. How to sword as a hunter: go invisible on right rock. Call for rockets as you jump up while invisible. When crota is at 10% hold left stick forward and press r2 as much as possible. Should get 4 hits, 3 of you are scared or new. Hold triangle. Press r1. At this point be patient for him to stop glowing. Don't get scared at this point. His shield goes in 5 or so seconds. Your team is ready to fire so be prepared. When crota is at 10% hit r2 3-4 times. Run away after said hits.

2 RespuestasAgreed with other commenters. A) if you don't run sword (on hard) then you don't have room to complain about Swordbearers. If you do run sword on hard, then run sword on hard so it's on you. Either way you should have nothing to complain about. B) as a seasoned swordbearer, the glitches I see on my screen are not seen by other people. If, for example, I am not host: Some people see Crota go down, but he won't take a knee on my screen, or he will do it late (and thus get up early) If I am host, the exact opposite: He kneels just fine, gets up just like he's supposed to on my screen, yet does goofy shit for others. Make your Swordbearer host always, as these issues are caused by lag. If he still can't get it done, then he does indeed suck and you should do it yourself if you have the skills. If not, you're SOL and don't have much room to talk. Calmly leave the group and start looking for another one. Staying in a group long enough to waste all your synths is your mistake. You can tell after the first 3-5 runs if it's going to be possible to win or not.

1 RespuestaIf he was so bad and you have ran sword before like you claimed you have, then why didnt you just take over for him? Seems like the rocket squad didnt need you very much. How about instead of coming on the forums and complaining about someones failures, you just man up and take care of it yourself? Seems like a really pointless post.
-
1 RespuestaWhy didnt you shelf him after the first few excuses and do it yourself? When I see an SB struggling I grab the sword and show them how its done in a positive and constructive manner. As a swordbearer I understand the pressure and responsibility, and how to channel what talent does exist into winning skills. Usuaally its a newbie who hasnt had a patient explanation from a frriendly pro and keeps faltering. Show him how to do tthat shit.
-
1 RespuestaOn that last paragraph: I know that feel. One VoG normal completion and I can only play once every 1-2 weeks. Day one player.

That's all anyone here blames Crota fails on. Nobody here is not skilled enough to beat crota it's just that the glitches keep preventing them from doing so. Or so they say
-
I rarely die from Crota. He's gotten up fast like once in all my attempts and I have a good amount of attempts. And I don't even bother making sure I'm host because it's just never a problem really.
-
There is ONE Important thing to remember: the swordbearer should have the group lead, so the Game is synchronized on hin. Orherwise glitches happen more often.
-
I've ran sword a few times myself, and I can say that Crota is a glitchy son of bitch. That being said, bad swordbearers are bad swordbearers. If I -blam!- up, I'll admit it. But too many mistakes and I'd just let someone else do it haha.
-
Some of them suck, some of them are being cheesed...by lag... Seriously 4 hits is easy now, but when I start swinging on time and don't see any damage numbers flashing and he comes up swinging like f'ing mortal kombat. I always suggest we swing back to orbit for a minute.
-
Im a sword bearer mostly, and I too make mistakes. I'll admit if i made the mistake, but most of the time it's the lag that gets me killed.
-
I am victim of Crota lag...sometimes he gets up early, sometimes he goes down late, sometimes the a-hole comes after me into the crystal room. I always make sure to say I'm genuinely sorry when I fail, but sometimes Crota's lag is not noticed by the rocketeers. Not saying the guy you were playing with didn't suck (he probably did), just saying swordbearing can sometimes be a pai

Editado por NathanW18: 3/22/2015 5:38:14 AMIf you believe your sword bearer is not good enough, you should put yourself forward to run it. I'm sure the vast majority of people that complain about sword bearers on the forum won't do so, because they're unable to. Also, lag massively effects this fight. What you see is not always the same as what your sword bearer sees. His excuses for failure may not be a lie. I do agree that you should admit when you fail and apologise to your team. I'm happy to admit when I fail, but I will not hesitate to state when the game is screwing me over.
-
Maybe what you saw, wasn't the same thing as what he saw.
-
Will definatly keep this in mind for my Croata runs. Rolled a Hunter just to try and down him on hard.
-
If I mess up I'll say I suck and apologize and we'll start the next run.
