"Intel announces Edison, a computer the size of an SD card"

http://www.theverge.com/2014/1/6/5282472/intel-announces-edison-a-computer-the-size-of-an-sd-card/in/5046515
Intel built a processor for wearable computing, and now it has a tiny computer where that processor can live. At CES 2014, Intel CEO Brian Krzanich announced Edison, "a full Pentium-class PC" that's the size and shape of an SD card you might otherwise put in your camera. It's powered by a dual-core Quark SOC, runs Linux, and has built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, according to the company. Intel even has a specific app store designed for Edison, and a special version of Wolfram that will come to the computer.
Never, EVER would I have thought that ANYBODY would be able to develop something as powerful as this, well, computer, in that form factor. It's a fully functional PC, and even comes with built in WiFi and Bluetooth support, and it's just the size of an SD card. Wow, that's amazing. This thing has to be expensive though.

      • Until Intel gets their stuff straight with Biological or fluid powered and cooled computers, I am not impressed.

        • >surprised computers are getting this small >doesnt see water and DNA based computers coming Especially considering we can artificially create diamonds for processing, everything will be getting smaller in leaps and bounds soon, its just a matter of time before we jump the next hurdle and rocket forward.

Looks like I have to include a magnifier and forceps to my list of things I need to build a gaming PC.

So how do you use it? There's no inputs or outputs on it.
I'm tired, so mind my stupidity.
• That's pretty cool mayne. I can see the awesome uses for it in the future, Clothes, pens and freaking glasses might be able to have built in CPUs, you could have a watch that is literally a computer. An entire network by just everyday items. man, it's basically making me think that everything will be connected to the internet at all times. I could flush, do the laundry, skype, do my homework, and order pizza while jogging and using my glasses. It's kinda cool but scary at the same time.

            • This is pointless (for the average person at least). The screen + keyboard would have to be normal size so why would i need everything else so much smaller? There's nothing wrong with current tech.

that's cool and all but how do you see what you're doing on it? the Monitor is atleast a few hundred times bigger than the computer (which I think is pretty funny)

"Intel announces Edison, a computer that you can lose while it's still within five feet of you" Imagine: "Dude, I lost my computer in my sock drawer." "Someone stole my wallet! My PC was in there!" "My PC fell behind the couch cushions and I can't find it now."

That's pretty impressive, but I'm not surprised. Adding/Subtracting calculators were once the size of large rooms.
Also, Thomas Edison sucks.
