Pinnacle Gear, I’m over here grinding solo.
Not going to lie, I didn’t notice before but pinnacle drops seem… annoying to get solo. I have friends and a solid clan, but I think Bungie needs to adds ways again to get it.
Like it’s gross.
Edit: For the players saying pathfinder, it does not give pinnacle gear. It gives t3 powerful gear.

2 RepliesI recently started my pinnacle grind. I don’t even see the pathfinder offering Pinnacle drops. Mine says prime engram and every time I completed it, it dropped the same as a powerful engram, no light increase. That was for the ritual pathfinder. The pale heart pathfinder is offering me that exotic sword that also drops at my current light. No light increase again. So for me it will be seasonal activities and nightfall. It may take awhile but it’s an ongoing game and I’m in no rush.

2 RepliesAlso what i think they are trying to do is simplify the bounty experience by making it where just playing will proc a bounty completion based on the activities you engage in. Now… this pathfinder thing was also (I believe) invented for those who store bounties for bounty prep to max out their Guardians Artifact mod(s) day 1. I believe they implemented this to slow those who do it down a bit. Which is not cool if my aim is on point.

2 RepliesThe hilarious thing is Bungie spent most of the prior year talking about how they wanted to remove/reduce power grind because from the feedback they got no one enjoyed it. This company just gets in their own way too often and it's tragic.

It's even worse when you get 4 pinnacles and they are all the same 4 weapon wasting your time. I got 4 of the same dang SMG yesterday

1 ReplySolo or in a fireteam the pinnacle grind is nothing but a chore and that’s largely because it doesn’t really help anymore. It doesn’t really make us anymore powerful it just time gates content.

2 RepliesPeople who struggle with leveling have potentially 4 things in common: 1) they do not know how to properly power level 2) they only play 1 or 2 characters 3) they suffer from duplicate pinnacles like the rest of us (I had 6 duplicate pinnacle drops on my titan this week) 4) They are not a fan of using LFG for various reasons. All three characters are 1994 (6 levels from cap) without even min maxing this season. Vendors providing near at-level gear make the grind a joke for those of us running 3 characters. if you only play one, it takes 2-4 weeks longer to max out.

I would argue the complete opposite, it's a solo player game with the option of playing with friends and the addition of a few fireteam activities. I back this up by data from Warmind.IO. As everyone can go and see for themselves, the bulk of the time people consume in D2 is in activities that were designed to be played by solo players (again, with the option of running as a team). Even the multiplayer activities that rank the highest are activities that have been supported by proper MM from the launch of D1 and where a fireteam isnt required. Activities such as raids, dungeons and other gametypes that require a premade only make up for about 10 %. So, even if you sometimes are among those 10 % you're probably also spending the majority of your time running "base content" - because that is the bread and butter of the game. We're on week two of the latest season and people are already complaining about this base content. My guess, not enough carrots. With that in mind I just cannot grasp some of the decisions Bungie is making. Gear progression is the first thing that comes to mind. They have the option of adding light levels yet keep "the grind" (which isnt much of a grind up until the power cap) really short. I just don't see the point, wouldnt you want your content to last longer? And if it's for the sake of the raid, why not just increase the light requirement for the raid once per month instead? I dont get engram tiers either, why render the vast majority of the content moot after a certain point? You can argue that people should just play for fun but let's be real here, everyone needs some form of goal - even if it's just for recreation. No one is going to run patrols or VG strikes over and over again just for fun. Also, with how pretty much all of the content is bolstered to your level - even if you're above the content level - there's really no excuse for not addng houndreds of light levels with every DLC. It's an incentive to play. Raids and whatnot can still have their special gear and perhaps also a slightly higher gear progression tier - but everyone should be able to get there eventually, depending on how much time they're willing to put in. As of now 85 % of the time spent in the game is capped at 1990 and the overlapping 5 % in the pinnacle tier is time gated. That's why the population is dwindling shortly after every DLC - people cap out and only come online to do the weekly activities that actually increase their levels- then it's back to Fortnite or whatever the hell they're playing.

Edited by Ataraxia: 6/20/2024 7:28:28 AMOnce you reach 1990, the 3 prime engrams from the pathfinder DOES give out pinnacle. I was 1992 and it gives out +2 gear on my first two and after I reached 1993 the last prime engram gave me a 1995 gear

I dont even feel the need to level up. I can do 2030 legendary sectors at 2000 without any problems. Are there any activities that require a higher level? What is the recommended level for grandmaster nightfall?

21 RepliesIt's because you used to be able to get 3 pinnacles per week from doing bounties for vanguard, gambit, and crucible. Now you don't and the new Pathfinder system they implemented for ritual activities is disgusting compared to the old bounty system.

Your problem is you're only playing 1 character.. Bungie changed how you lvl as long as you have a high piece covering every slot across all three characters you level up to higher gear. I needed a heavy weapon I had a 2000 primary n energy I had a 2000 helmet on titan and chest on warlock I had 2000 legs, arms and class item on my hunter. All other pieces were lower across the characters but I had high enough light across all three to make sure my next heavy drop was a 2000 now all on all three characters drop at 2000

1 ReplySolo player here. And i dont see it as that much of a struggle honestly. 🤔 Took me like 3-4 days to reach 2000 And i dont do PVP or gambit. Hell most of my time was spent in the pale heart and the new nessus activity.

Many of the solo sources of pinnacles look to be removed. You have dungeons, NF, sometimes exotic missions (was last week but not this week for some reason), and private seasonal activity. I do much of my grind solo, and there just doesnt seem to be as much to get pinnacles with as there used to be. Maybe I forget because its been a while since there was a pinnacle grind. For a solo player running pinnacles, honestly the first thing to do each week is a Warlord Ruin solo run. Then check to see if you can bump up with powerfuls, and run rotator dungeon, NF, and what other pinnacles you can get solo.

2 RepliesRaids and Dungeons have always been the best source for pinnacles. And I think that's fine. If you play harder content you should level faster. You can reach max level just with solo drops like seasonal activities or nightfalls. It will just take more time.

There seems to be a bit of confusion. While waiting for a few friends I’m helping out I was running solo. After getting my NF done I was looking for pinnacles to do while waiting. It’s when I really noticed how many are dungeons and raids. I’ve noticed it before, but I also kinda toned some stuff out last year given Lightfall and just went and did stuff with friends and clan members. Saying that Pathfinder did kinda make things weird so there are those pinnacles as well that I forgot about…. Still I think this expansion is showing the solo struggle. I think some things can be done (for example, giving out a one time quest to get the exotic class item. But it would be really annoying and grindy. The only thing they couldn’t do is keep on grinding the quest. The class item could still drop in the pale heart’s chest) For some reason people think solo= easy. Naw it’s just more accessible.
