Hunters need a buff for PVE. Are we truly a high DPS class? We need some answers.

And hunters are kinda the weakest at that at times and sometimes the best (with a proper invisibility). I just want some team synergy for hunters for us to make more of team impact in Hard Mode raids.[/b] Points that have been discussed: THESE ARE ALL PERTAINING TO PVE -Golden Gun needs some adjustments in PVE, maybe a higher damage boost or the addition of being able to land precision shots with it -Blade Dancer is lacking in the orb production department and is also very hard to use in certain situation such as the nightfall or any mission with lightswitch on - Hunters are the only class that doesnt, by default, have additional elemental damage attached to our melee abilities.   • If u think all these things are issues. Then the hunter is not for you. If you really dont have the skill to be effective with a hunter. Go play as a warlock, cuz if u cant play close quarters you can have a shield just by "Smacking" someone from 20 feet away. And if u feel like u dont do much damage, probably because your accuracy is terrible, use the sunsinger super so u can do more damage and throw tons of grenades. Are u terrible at staying alive. Well if you suck at doing the most basic thing in the game then look no further. The warlock can self revive to try and quickly cover up the fact that he sucks.

    • I wouldn't be surprised if they gave Hunters a Void Sub-class that would allow for better PVE utility instead of buffing an existing sub-class.

    • Gunslinger is the best possible class for PvE dude. Unlimited instant kill throwing knives, you only ever need ammo for anything like Captains/Wizards. And GG does crit hit. Try shooting a Fallen Walker in the legs, then the core. Gigantic difference. Just sayin :P

      • We are fine. Think mmo terms...we're a pure DPS class. You should be thinking of using GG to gen orbs for the 'locks and titans, not as a one off to deal crazy damage. You're using keyhole, right? If not, you aren't doing a good job for the swordbearer. He/she should be running thru orbs to get to crota. Also...um, bladedance gens shit ton of orbs...go gank some thralls. Mask of third man, plus the extend skill gens a LOT of orbs. Also, raid gloves gen orbs from grenade kills, so drop it like it's hot. Burning throwing knives have gotten me lots of kills, plus it's to put out extra DPS...not necessarily kill stuff...as well as you should be headshotting with them anyway. Blink strike is more of a getaway mechanic in group play....so yeah. Our job is to keep all the adds down, then dps burn bosses when needed....not really anything else. 'Locks buff peeps, or rez if they can't stay alive or to save a wipe, and titans just absorb damage and give a buff as well. As a hunter, you should be killing more than anyone else, and of course, surviving. The problems I see, are a lot of people don't really get the concept of hunters...and that includes a ton of hunter players. As much as anyone wants to deny it, we're built on the classic mmorpg ideal of pure dps class. We aren't ever going to have anything that 'assists' a fireteam. We exist to murder everything that ISN'T on the fireteam. And start dance parties with our sweet capes.

        • I completely disagree. I get four shots w golden. I can choose to havr golden make baddies explode or faster CD. And I have basically max reload and or stability on my hand cannons or autos with my buffs/ armor perks. My lock is no were close to weapon dps vs my huner

        • So I had a team of 4 Hunters, a Warlock and a Titan. We took down Atheon in 3 relic grabs. Hunters can spam Golden Gun and become the most useful class against Atheon. Just try it.

          • For the most part, I think hunters are fine. Blade Dancer is strictly situational and its why I am just a GG user. Blade Dancer is a cool super, but its really only good for clearing trash mobs. Admittedly that makes it easier for story PVE, some situations in the raids (mostly just going from point A to point B) and patrols. But its not a super to be used on tough melee based or shielded majors, or bosses. The same can be said of Strikers and Voidwalkers though. Neither of those supers are very good in boss/tough fights as they are supers designed more for clearing the trash more quickly so you can get to your objective a little faster. And compared to the other two trash clearing supers of the other two classes, I'd take a Blade Dancer any day as you can string kills in the 20+ range if used at the proper time with the proper perks. As for melee not being elemental, the reason for that is that blink strike and the throwing knife can critical strike, which actually has a wider range of uses than the other two classes because of the potential to do more damage. The hunter class is definitely a class that rewards skilled players (the throwing knife is a great example of this because if you can use it effectively, you are god-like in my book). And personally speaking, the hunter is definitely more of a ranged class and shouldn't be focused on their melees much at all. The hunter grenades need more of a buff than their melees do. Used intelligently, Golden Gun can be used to take out tough majors or lower end majors (dregs, acolytes, etc) and produce 7-8 orbs. Trading in the explosion or reduced cooldown perks to allow the GG to critical strike or leave a "mark" to allow teammates to do extra damage or add a significant DoT would make the super much more beneficial for boss encounters (an area I would agree is where hunters suffer a lack of usefulness). As I compared the Blade Dancer to the Striker and Voidwalker as the trash clearers, so can the GG be compared to the Sunsinger and Defender as the boss/raid supers. And in that regard, its the one thing I actually agree needs a buff to be on par with the other two supers. The addition of the critical GG shot or a DoT/damage increase type mark would most certainly place the hunter back in the good graces of the LFG raid teams and put them on par with the other two "raid supers" as far as utility goes. I actually don't think that making Chain of Woe and/or Hunter's Trance a team based buff would be a good idea. A skilled hunter would have the buffs up almost 100% of the battle for the team, making the game much easier. The reverse side of that coin is that you bring an unskilled hunter into the team and they end up hating and/or kicking him because he can't keep the buff up consistently so that the buff comes and goes, throwing everyone's aim off because they are compensating too much for recoil while the buff is active or they aren't compensating enough while its inactive. Unskilled hunters would just make the hunter hating that much worse for everyone. No one would want to run with hunters, whether they are good or not.

            • All in all, I love my hunter. It is a great class, if you play it right. We can be a real asset to the team when we dodge bullets in the air, go invisible to evade enemies, or just golden gun our way through them just to revive a teammate that went down in the midst of a mob on the other side of the map. During the majority of the game, hunters (even though no one will admit it and everyone hates on them) ate crucial to the team. But I understand EXACTLY what you ate saying about our DPS. Especially during the raids. Golden Gun and arc blade are awesome supers but they are both lacking when it comes to team assistance, which is crucial in the middle of raids. Arc blade can get you out of a mess if you did yourself surrounded by tons of ads but it's usefulness is pretty limited when the goal during CE in most places is [i]kill enemy. MOVE MOVE MOVE. kill enemy. Kill enemy. RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN[/i]. Not to mention it doesn't do as many orbs as the other supers do. With the aclyiophage symbiote helmet, golden gun gets an extra shot which means you get 4 high damage rounds. The rounds are great for goblins, hobgoblins, Thralls, and acolytes. If you land each shot you generate 4 orbs, which is helpful to the team. If however, you take on a tougher enemy, like an ogre or anything with a yellow health bar, during the raid, it generally takes 3 to 4 rounds to drop them at which point it drops orbs accordingly. The real problem with golden gun is that if you shoot at a boss or don't happen to kill your yellow health bar target, it dross no orbs at all. Another problem is that my icebreaker does more damage with a critical per shot than GG does. It needs to be able to hit critical spots. Another problem is with our grenades. Our grenades have no AOE and pale in comparison to other classes grenades when used in the raid. Some of them are great for pvp and strikes but during the raid, on tougher enemies, they can have very little effect on a large mob or a tough ad. And finally, our melee attack had almost no range to it and like you said, doesn't come standard with elemental perks. Yes, I do believe we are dps at our base and we are great to utilize in a well organized team, but our supers, specials, and abilities definitely fall short of a [b]true[/b] dps class

              • Idk man I am a hunter titan and warlock and find i like my hunter more cuz I have 4 shots on golden gun ( 3 is crap) Bladedancer I love the invisibility perks I do think it would be cool if the hunter gave there team chain of woes and trance that would be a good buff.

              • We are fine. Buff is not needed. If you need dps, get some weapons to compensate. I got saterines rapier and icebreaker and hunger of crota. I have 100 or more kills in Vault and strikes than any one i play with. Skill matters and the choice of gun will compliment that skill.
