Pulse Rifle = Worst Primary?
I don't hear a lot about pulse rifles, Besides Red Death.
In my experience, it's the most awkward weapon to be consistently good with.
We always hear about autos, hand cannons and scout rifles, but not too much talk about pulse rifles.
Am I sensing a trend? Is it just me?

Been a long time coming. The upcoming weapons patch, along with Bungie's stats clearly show that pulse rifles are the least favourite weapon and also most underpowered.
I've been kicking ass the oversoul edict. It's actually one of the exceptions. With the buff, this gun will rule the crucible and arc burn nightfalls

I have 2 bad seed downs and a super pov vlo. Not feeling bad seed, although they have good perks. One has full auto, the other has headseeker. I wish i had one with both.

My issue is the damage seems lower than scouy rifles overall, and missing with a pulse is more punishing than with a scout.
Scout rifles seem better than pulse rifles in every way.

I like pulse rifles a lot. They're enjoyable to use. I have two Super Pox Volo (one with Hammer Forged, the other with Perfect Balance), Bad Juju (which I LOVE), Bad Seed Down, Strange Suspect, Crackerjack.beta, Cold Current (with full auto and fitted stock), and of course The Stranger's Rifle. I don't get to use them all as much as I'd like because I'm focused on leveling up my exotics and the rest of my legendaries.

Pulse rifles can't handle PvP, but they are pretty all purpose in PvE. If you haven't tried them before I would recommend it and if possible pickup the Toland's Legacy bounty for Bad Juju

I don't think it's the worst, just seems the least used. I liked The Strangers Rifle when I leveled up, pre-20. Red Death gets better as you get perks... It's just a different feel.

Pulse rifles are lack luster in pve and you can find some decent ones for pvp. Just need to find a good balance of rate of fire and impact. I have a couple of pulse rifles that can kill in 3 burst in pvp but why would I use a pules rifle when a scout rifle can do the same with just 3 shots. Just need to find a good RNG pulse rifle.

3 Repliesdepends. i rolled with auto rifles at the beginning too since its the "best" weapon or a simple weapon if you cant aim and even hits if you shoot in the air. i never rly liked to go witht he mainstream since i always wanted something unique, so i was going to pulse rifles. for pve they are very good. nice dmg and if all 3 shots inflict headshot dmg its mostly as strong or slightly less powerful than handcannons. in pvp it rly depends on which weapon you use. but in generally many other weapon / weapon types easily outperform pulses. suros simply reks the red death (my main weapon for pvp). another bad thing is that you need to be very precise with pulse rifles, if youre sligtly off you wont hit, unlike autos do. but if youre very good at aiming and hit all 3 shots of the burst as headshot you can 2 shot kill everyone in pvp. i would go as far and say pulse rifle needs the most "skill", right next to handcannons, (if you can call aiming skill) to use effectivly in pvp. if i should recommend a pulse use the super pox vlo (feels a bit similar to red death, every stat is better except reloading) i didnt check the vanguard perks but something with field scout perk would be great. another pulse rifle to recommend would be red death. the stats are decent / bad, the impact is good but the health regen upon kill perk is very nice. (very good for pve too, makes you more "tanky")

2 RepliesI love praeydths timepiece (raid pulse rifle) and i haven't even come close to fully upgrading it yet. Low recoil, good range and with that high ROF and a quick trigger finger makes it shoot quicker than a full auto crucible pulse rifle i got. The only thing wrong with it is the semi-low damage it seems to do per pulse if every shot is not a headshot. But with dmg upgrades hopefully thats sorted out

I've got Strange Suspect. Upgraded with no recoil it's effectively a 4 round bust scout rifle.
