I don't hear a lot about pulse rifles, Besides Red Death.
In my experience, it's the most awkward weapon to be consistently good with.
We always hear about autos, hand cannons and scout rifles, but not too much talk about pulse rifles.
Am I sensing a trend? Is it just me?
Edit 3:
Been a long time coming. The upcoming weapons patch, along with Bungie's stats clearly show that pulse rifles are the least favourite weapon and also most underpowered.
I've been kicking ass the oversoul edict. It's actually one of the exceptions. With the buff, this gun will rule the crucible and arc burn nightfalls

I have 2 bad seed downs and a super pov vlo. Not feeling bad seed, although they have good perks. One has full auto, the other has headseeker. I wish i had one with both.

My issue is the damage seems lower than scouy rifles overall, and missing with a pulse is more punishing than with a scout.
Scout rifles seem better than pulse rifles in every way.
-
Red death and Strangers riffle are the only good ones
-
Bad Juju is a beast, PvP wise.
-
Personally, I hate them. But i hate them in every game, hell, even hate them in real life.
-
Clearly you haven't tried the timepiece. Damn thing can outshoot snipers in PvP. But that's the only pulse rifle I'll regularly use.
-
The time piece is good but it's kinda rare to get
-
Never been a fan of three round burst guns. Ever.
-
I like pulse rifles. It's easy to just aim for the chest and use the kickback to get a headshot with the 3rd bullet.
-
Praedyth's Timepiece with perfect balance is actually really good in PvP. It is a laser than can burst someone down without them having time to react. In PvE I switch in the extra ammo and the thing does damage for days. also you don't get penalized for missing due to the high fire rate. That being said it is hard raid gatekeepers only so very few people actually have it because there is no way of cheesing that fight like there is for the fatebringer or VM, but if you get it I highly recommend it. They take some getting used to just like hand cannons, and are best suited to medium range for sure. But they are definitely viable, especially Red Death. In PvP it is very underrated.

Edited by Ghost J34: 11/29/2014 3:14:18 AMThey are the worst by far. Auto rifles and hand cannons are simply better, followed by scout rifles. I would be surprised if even .5% of my deaths were the result of a pulse rifle. It's amazing how pulse rifles were so well-designed in Halo by Bungie, but are mediocre at best here.
-
Yes. I believe they are completely wrong. They should bridge the gap between (what should be) short range auto rifles and long range scout rifles. They should do medium-high damage and medium fire rate. Instead, EVERY one besides red death is high fire rate and low damage, making them practically a 30 round Atheon's epilogue.
-
I like em, if you aim center mass it could be a one spray kind of weapon. My third round usually kills whatever is on the other end of my sights. I haven't tried them in the crucible. I'm leveling up Red Death right now, but my vendor Super POX VLO or whatever is at 300.
-
I don't dislike pulse rifles, but I just feel like I'm hardly progressing when I use them. It just takes so long to kill compared to other weapons which is why my red death is only half upgraded.
-
With the red death you can really dominate in PVP. I used it in iron banner and it wasn't even maxed out and I'd average a 2.8 - 3.2 Kill death ratio and I'm not that strong of a PVP player
-
i use red death for almost everything. Head shots really are not that hard, and 2-3 hits does more damage than most scouts. And the life perk is amazing. It just lets you flow. Almost a must for VoG, as i can heal myself almost every few seconds. A tip, tap down on the joystick as you shoot. little to no recoil every time when you get it down.
-
RD. I honestly hate working more, but really worth it for the damage when I wanna get safe kills. Also lifesaver in raid
-
+1 bump

How...DARE you suggest that Battle Rifle is the worst primary! Come on, we all know it's the Battle Rifle with a weak sound.
-
Pradeyths timepiece is great. There just arent as many good oulse rifles out there imo. I think missing with a scout would be morr punishing than if you missed one shot out of a burst with a oulse rifle, just a thought.
-
i use pulse rifles for everything no complaints here i guess i just adapt better than most
-
Timepiece from raid actually shoots right through Knights shields. Not sure if bug or not lol
-
If everyone could have the timepiece, you would see a lot more people running main pulse rifles.
-
Yes, they are lacking in DPS. It takes longer to kill something (PvE) with precision pulse rifle shots than any other primary type. I haven't taken pulse rifle into the crucible, so I don't know how well it does there.
-
Timepiece pulse rifle is the best!
-
I used a pulse rifle until I hit lvl 22 on my first guardian. It was a rare and I bought a hand cannon with my marks. They're just horrid in PvP most the time, at least for my play style.
-
They're extremely strong in the Crucible, The Strangers Rifle can kill you in 2 bursts.
-
I mean idk, i really like my red death but pulse rifles can be annoying
