I reset my entire system yesterday starting with my router back to default with everything turned off and still have an issue. I played with zero errors (that's right not a single error at all) up until the 1.03 patch. Since then i've had issues. So in your logic I should have had problems concerning my network configurations this whole time yet I didn't.. How does that work?

I appreciate your sympathy toward my situation, but the decisions I have made for my internet connection were not made whimsically. I received many different errors from Bungie (as did many other people across the globe) and I tried the recommended fix for each one. After a bit more research, and the red flag on Bungie's opening help page, this seems to be something on Bungie's end, and most likely to do with a flaw in the most recent update.

partly yes it is ive been fixing my friends no problem.

Thank you, Yoda, for helping confirm it is at least partly Bungie's fault, if not mostly, or all.

Some service provider configs requires port forwarding because of the used routers they provide. If I do not open ports for example I am not able to use Xbox Live Party Chat correctly. It really depends and cannot be generalized like you try to explain.
-
yes but they handle it mostly. I agree that xbox should market the gold package to the isp providers out there. its there job to create the advertised abilities in chat options as well.

Not really, if MS just used port 80 for chat, then this wouldn't be such an issue. It's the XBOX's job to work out what type of traffic it is. Opening loads of ports reduces the security. If you knew how uPNP actually works (dynamically opening ports), you wouldn't allow it on your network. If you use uPnP, malicous software can take advantage of this to open ports for attack. If its a client/server application, then you could be a open target.
