Currently, the only primary weapons in the game that do special damage (Solar, Arc, and Void) are Raid weapons; Atheon's Epilogue, Praedyth's Timepiece, Fatebringer, and that scout rifle (I can't remember the name).
I have to wonder; why is it that Legendary guns get special damage, when Exotics don't?
Here's what I'm thinking the should do for some of the Exotic primaries:
[b]Red Death[/b] + Solar Damage
[b]Hard Light[/b] + Arc Damage
[b]Thorn[/b] + Void Damage*
*Thorn would still fire the same green tracers as always, but Void damage would be applied to them; it should also be applied to the DoT effect you get from the special perk.
There's also The Last Word, SUROS Regime, and Bad Juju, but I'm not sure what they should get. You let me know.

Last word gets solar, suros gets arc, uni remote should deal a random element with every shot just for spits and giggles, bad juju should deal void, nlb should deal solar. I think that's all of them that weren't listed.

Suros Regime actually USED to have solar elemental damage on it, back in the early release, along with most(not all, I think) of the other exotic primaries. Then Bungie took it away because they wanted the raid weapons to be "unique". Which they still WOULD be, since they would be the only LEGENDARY tier primaries that do elemental. Just another bone-headed decision by the dev team in charge of Destiny.

As a Hard Light user I def have to agree it needs ARC damage. That and bump to its range a bit would be nice.

For the last three: The Last Word - solar Suros Regime - arc Bad Juju - void Bad Juju seems like a no brainer, and as for the other two, they just...seem to fit. Mostly the aesthetics persuaded me. The Suros being white and having no hard edges makes me feel arc, and the darker colors and association with gunslinging (since in Destiny the gunslinger is solar based) make solar feel appropriate.

Originally they were designed with elementals in mind. Later removed.

Perhaps when you look at the bounty primaries are all more difficult to obtain perhaps excluding the shotgun and the weapons tend to be subpar to even legendaries and cant really hold their own over most other exotics of other slots.

No, because primaries from the raid should be the only ones with elemental damage.

I don't think they should just because I think raid weapons should be the most powerful gear exotic or not.

I think bad juju does special damage on beta. Saw it on video before I think. And they remove it when launched ;(

I wish they would make 1 exotic weapon that did all 3 solar, arc, & void. Weapon would sense what the enemy has when aimed at them

I feel like Bad Juju should have void damage, it fit so well that I was disappointed when I got it and realised it was normal damage XD plus it'd definitely help bring it in line with the other exotic primaries for usefulness

Some should. Others it would be weird. For example the last word being the old style hand cannon it is should just do kinetic damage.
