"If you aren't part of the solution, you are a part of the problem"
This is a phrase that conjures mixed opinions. But I wanted to use it for the topic of this thread in which I hope a civil discussion can be had. Now, I notice a lot of the time whether it be in jest or whatever that when a man commits an act of misogyny, he is called sexist, which is right, but when a women wants to do something that doesn't include men or favors women to men or something that makes a male feel inferior, she is also deemed "sexist".
Let's take a look at the word from Merriam-Webster:
1. prejudice or discrimination based on sex; especially : discrimination against women
2. behavior, conditions, or attitudes that foster stereotypes of social roles based on sex
Now while both definitions pretty much say anyone can be sexist, the first indicates that the sexism ball is more in the court of us males. That's the dictionary definition, but, take into account who wrote the dictionary, and it's easy to see how one can twist a word ever so slightly to take pressure off of a powerful group of people. Nonetheless, by this definition we can see that both men and women can be sexist, but wait...
We can get into the whole prejudice with power debate. Historically, in terms of men and women, women have gotten the short end of the stick all throughout history. Men have dominated in nearly every field (except birthing :P) in terms of social construct so by this regard, being sexist has greatly benefited men. By this logic, women can't be "sexist" since only men benefit from being sexist. Even today a woman on average makes 77 cents to every dollar a man makes., that's an amazing (not literally) 25% less money being made for an XX genome! To be fair that was in 2010, but also, that was just four years ago. Yeah, a woman can be sexually prejudice, but not sexist, the person doing it dictates the the name of the action by this logic.
So finally back to my preface, I am aware that in the career field that I will probably make 25% more than my female counterpart, race aside. Do I acknowledge this statistic?
Yes.
Do I think that it's wrong?
Yes.
Do i think that it's unfair?
Yes.
Will i give that 25% back then?
Of course not.
Not to be a jerk but it's the truth? Why would I?...now, does that make me sexist then for being a male by default in today's society? I am aware there is a problem, but I am not doing anything about it, "If you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the problem."
TL;DR: Please just read

no? I am super sexist lol!

If you said yes then you are sexist
-
My mum is sexist towards women

It's like saying only white people can be racist. It's not true but it's kind of the most relevant because the white man has traditionally run shit in the west and elsewhere so his bias is institutionalized (yes like Brooks) and it has the biggest impact.
-
So there's a place called Tumblr...
-
Of course not. There are plenty of examples of women that are sexist. Or at least one; Feminists.
bait deployed
-
I'm calling bullshit on that first definition, that last part needs to be removed. I can practically smell the bias on that.

his mom is one of the females holding us back.... I should have a talk with her, and how she prevents us females from advancing in today's society. there are TOOONS of books of the subject!. And its actually IMPOSSIBLE (its been proven time and time again) that males are better cooks. In fact, females are better at about 94% of everything, its just that males hold us back, so we dont achieve out full potential.

You should change the title to "Are you an idiot?" The answers shouldn't change.

I have been ridiculed so much by men and women both for being a sensitive guy.

Ugh I hate that 77 cents to the dollar statistic, it is absolute shit, and people who don't exactly understand statistics, or are more blinded by "feminism" think it's saying all women get paid less than men, which is simply and utterly false. First let's start by examining the fact that it is an average. Okay well they didn't include what their sample space was, so this could include anywhere from factory workers to professional athletes. The latter where men make far more money simply because of interest and popularity. Besides that point, females in the same job, with the same amount of training and experience, will get paid less than men. Why? Well insurance companies have to take into account the possibility of having to cover a workers paycheck for an extended period of time, without work being done, or as it's better known, maternity leave. And then, further on than costing more to insure a female, the company itself has to consider the possibility of a lower rate of productivity a week out of the month due to the menstrual cycle. Before you attack me for saying this I should remind you that I said possibility. Think like a business leader and not like a woman warrior when you are talking about business.
Do you think men can only be sexist?
Does my ID say Jim the Admin or Jaythenerdkid?

Everyone can be sexist
-
Only men can be racist.
-
Women can be sexist; I had a history teacher in seventh grade who basically said all men deserved to be locked in cages.
-
All the radical feminists are sexist... kinda funny isn't it?
-
Nope, easy double standard can be applied. Chubby out of shape dudes cant date skinny girls, should get fit to have a chance. Chubby out of shape girls, should date fit guys, and should be proud to be fat. You women literally want to have your cake and eat it as well.
Of course women can't be sexist; are you actually stupid or something?
-Jaythenerdkid [2012]

That wage statistic covers is taking into account every employable woman in America, not every employed woman. With stay at home moms and households where the woman's income is only meant to be supplementary, the number will of course be lower than men's income. The video above explains such myths and their origins. The lady describes herself as a feminist, but she actually backs up her claims and makes reasonable arguments (in other words, she's not a radFem).

If you have sex chromosomes, you can be a sexist. -
I treat girls very differently to how I treat guys. Get over it.

I once saw a sign for a feminist bake sale for equality. Women payed 50 cents Men paid a dollar (per item). Not every woman is a feminist (thank god), but damn if the ones that are aren't sexist.

Women wolf whistle at me and slap my ass all the time. I am just a piece of meat to them. It's horrible.
