There are several types of missions that require "farming" in patrol. The various enemies should react to this.
Edit: this could be triggered by just farming mobs period in patrol.
For example: Collect docking caps from Dregs.
After 10-12 Dregs are killed (you'll have to decrease the docking cap drop rate) the next ship/cave drops a Reaver Dreg 2 levels above the Dregs that are killed.
Upon the death of this Reaver Dreg the group becomes marked. The next fallen skiff will drop a Reaver Vandal and a captain and a Pike patrol will scour the area looking for the players.
The longer the players stay the more difficult it becomes. The increasing difficulty resets upon death of any member of the fire team.
After the pike patrol and captain are killed several skiffs show up, dropping a servitor, several Reaver Captains and Reaver Vandals of increasing level.
If/when this group is killed it triggers a public event like the devil Walker, but now accompanied by an Archon and a number of major mobs and pike patrols, perhaps two Devil Walkers, and these would be more aggressive, move around, and their cannon would fire like the 2013 E3 demo (main cannon targets and fires 1-2 seconds later).
Devil Walkers drop a guaranteed engram, rare or legendary.
Edit: Much like the other static rewards you are promised a rare, but have a chance at legendary
The archon has a guaranteed loot table of 2 drops, rare or legendary engrams, a cryptarch reward, and the satisfaction.
Edit: Cryptarch reward = those things that give you 200 glimmer

Edited by stevenreyes0036: 11/8/2014 3:44:49 AMI agree except the legendary part. I know rng screws us over a lot. It has screwed me over plenty. I still believe that rng is what makes the grinding kinda worth something. The drops should be a guarantee, but legendary and exotics should still be random. If we're guaranteed things then it's really easy to obtain everything. If nightfall could be done over that's all a lot of people would do.

Guaranteed engram drop? Never happen

I like this.

Great ideas! I love exploring the regions during patrol but lately I've been thinking of how much more fun it would be if the enemies there actually reacted to us. Right now it feels like the solar system doesn't even need us. If we all stopped playing for a day, the darkness wouldn't wipe out the last city. It would be sitting there in the same places it always is, waiting for us to come back and crush it, only to return exactly the same when we leave it's spawn area. To make the regions more "living" every area could be a constant struggle for domination against the darkness. When there are no guardians around it could get darker, areas could be teeming with enemies that need to be pushed back into their little holes. When the light does return and enemies faces resistance, they could react accordingly by deploying stronger troops to fight back, or sending in a special strike team to assassinate guardians. Or realizing they are out matched and calling a full retreat to cut their loses. Once an area is purged it could remain that way until guardians move on to somewhere else they are needed. Rather than having enemies respawn within a minute of being killed, this would provide incentives for guardians to move on, to cover more ground and to constantly push out against the darkness. Just some thoughts

Looks like its gonna slip through the cracks. Pity mate as i thought you had some really good ideas there!

Random dungeons/caves that could be accessed from patrol with a boss at the end of it and a slightly more rare chest. The caves could be random and entrances will trigger a brief loading screen. Also extraterrestrial or mutated wildlife should be implemented like a swamp serpent for venus, a giant rock crab for the moon, a a huge centipede with gigantic mandibles for mars, etc. Rare mob sightings would be really fun too and would be like a weekly hunt. Traveling merchants sitting in caves or building rooms would be cool too.

So basically make patrol missions longer? No thanks

I like the idea a lot, but I think it's a little too easy to get a legendary that way, unless the rare/legendary ratio was like 5/1

Edited by Label07: 10/20/2014 2:51:22 AMYes, some diversity would be much appreciated. Kinda boring and static the way the game is designed currently. People enjoy spontaneousness and being surprised which does not happen on patrol in ANY level. Don't anybody state "but, but, there are Public Events"... those are on timers that many websites track. Oh yea, here's an idea too, how bout Walkers THAT ACTUALLY WALK!!! Seriously how -blam!-ing boring is it, all these things do is spin in circles!
-
Honestly just implementing a living world would make this game much better.

This right here is what I'm talking about. I don't go on patrols for loot, or grinding, I do it because it seems fun. But I'd like more variety, such as: Cosmodrome = Where did all the Hive go? Why is there a Cabal tank in the Mothyard? Moon = The Fallen got how deep into the Hellmouth? When did the Vex take up residence in the Accelerator? Venus = That's a lot of dead Fallen... and no ketch? When did the Hive seeder show up in the Waking Ruins? Mars = Fallen scavenging dead Cabal and Vex? Are these the Hive from Earth?

I love this. Like an active living breathing horde mode that feels organic. Like they are reacting and noticing that they need more resistance. Possibly even have a captain in the background barking out orders. "We need more men! Send in the walkers!!!" I love it.

Come on people, lets keep this bumped. Bungie needs to pay attention to this
