Many, like myself, are struggling to get to 30 because obtaining raid gear is just too damn random. A reasonable solution to acquire this gear is to give raid marks for completing the raid and capping it for a certain number of completions.
This system is akin to how strikes work in giving out vanguard marks. This will incentivize players to attempt the raid many times during the week and rewarding them for their efforts. It makes the RNG system to get to 30 just an oblique problem, ultimately taking pressure off Bungie for not yet fixing it and encouraging people to continue raising for exalted glory.
TL;DR- make raid gear purchase-able with raid marks earned through completing raids, most mmos and RPGs have this. This negates the complete arbitrary and capricious nature of the current system, everyone wins. Only troglodytes don't want change.
FuriousDragon45 suggested the currency be called Black Crystal Shards or Dark Glass Fragments, I like both as both fit with the game's lore.
Edit: people think this is another entitled post that's complaining about the game. It's not, please pay attention in your reading comprehension class next time... this is a merit based system that negates the negative aspect of the RNG. By completing a ton of raids, you get a chance to buy the missing piece.
Edit 2: the RNG is a casino system. There is no skill involved. There are no redeeming qualities that can save it when it's essentially a crapshoot. The armor is not hard to get, it's just too random. That uneeded randomness prevents people from being 30, only troglodytes like the current system
Edit: most mmos and RPGs make endgame gear available through grinding out rep or by earning currency, and are not restricted to complete randomness.
Edit: If it had a different design to indicate that it came from a vendor, that's fine IMO. I think most people are only upset with an arbitrary system and don't care a lot about the look.
Edit: there's a system with the emblems that prevents you from buying duplicate emblems; that could be added with the gear to prevent farming.
Also ITT: cretins who try to justify their existential online meaning by not wanting change to a broken casino like system. Trolls will be treated appropriately
Update: Iron Banner will have Light 30 gear

What a gem

I posted something similar that goes into a bit more detail: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/78273374/0/0

Buy the DLC and next time you raid you will receive the missing raid gear piece True story
-
I would prefer to run the the VoG additional 25 times rather then this It's not a personal attack to you, of course, just my personal opinion I finished the raid 25 times (6/7 on hard mode) but only got gauntlets (twice, and an insanely amount of guns) Cheers mate

Raid gear should give set bonus not be the only way to increase your level
-
No, no, no and NO. Raid Marks is the worst solution. I would rather run the raid 30 times to get my random raid gear. Than to do the raid gear 15 times to get marks and buy the raid gear. I just hate marks. Even if they created a good mark system for the raid. I would rather leave it up to RNGesus.
-
Mostly agree, but DON'T make it dependant on raids - I still haven't got to grips with any raids, can never get friends on together to attempt them, or some aren't ranked up enough, or other whatevers. Basically it's not possible for me to play raid, so it is annoying that you get the good gear (shards n such) from them. It'd be worse if weapons etc were in raid, that would practically lock those out for me! We do need some better way of obtaining better gear. As it is I'm level 27 and can't get any further. It's getting a bit stale, now.
-
Wow raid gear should take a while to get. Lmao this loot system is better than wow it took me three years to get my tier 2 robe. It was obsolete when It finally dropped. At least everyone gets something with this system
-
I made a post about this exact idea a month ago =/
-
I hate to say this my friend but this isn't WoW

Edited by ryanrebs: 11/6/2014 9:41:24 PMThink all of you have the illusion Raid gear is supposed to be easy to get. RNG always exists. If you want Raid marks , Trade 5 marks for a Raid Engram with a small chance to get a raid piece or motes/coins. Finished,. Never ever should you be able to buy the only gear that makes you 30 -Edit. Make 2 of the same class like I did and get double the chance till 30. Delete the 2nd toon and move on . Geez
-
I like it the way it is. I'm a level 29 and I'm glad that Bungie made it hard to get to 30. I'm sick of games where everyone and their Mama is maxed out. It's about time a game came out that doesn't just give you what you want.
-
Bump My Titan, whom I made at game release, has been stuck at level 29 for over a month. My warlock, whom I made 2-3 weeks ago, has two full raid gear sets
-
Edited by CenturionCJ: 11/6/2014 5:46:40 PMI've done the raid 14 times and i've never got any raid armour. I did however get the glass ship twice, chatterwhite 7 times, the cape from chests 3 times, vision of confluence twice, atheon's epilogue twice, Ice Breaker on the week that i bought it from Xur, hezen veangence (which i don't mind) and Found Verdict (which i did mind) as well as Suros Regime from the left Gorgon Maze chest. Other times i basically just got shards/energy's. I now have 90+ shards... Don't talk about anything to do with being unlucky, because i feel i have it the worst here -_- I'll probably just move onto another game at this rate. I'm not doing this for 10 years or however long they plan to keep this game going. I would also like to mention i'm a level 29 hunter with fully upgraded legendary and exotic armour with multiple exotic and legendary weapons also many upgraded. Update: 15th time i got my 3rd glass ship and 8th chatterwhite. I might start a collection...

I want to see this happen on destiny!
-
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssss lol very well thought out
-
You know the next iron banner will have gear that can get you to 30, right?
-
It seems fine to me the way it is now. The raid won't stop giving me gear and now I have 3 full sets and 5 raid helmets.
-
I like the idea, but wouldn't it be easier (and simpler to code) to just adjust the loot tables so that Templar and Atheon both reward the players with a piece of guaranteed loot, either a weapon or armor? Heck, I'd even be ok with it being possibly for any class.
-
Edited by Aurelia: 10/27/2014 11:21:57 PMI would like to see a marks system that drops marks only if you have looted the boss once with the current system in the current week. Say 25 marks for each of the 4 loot bosses (50 on hard). The purchase price should be fairly high like 1000 marks for boots. This would create a nice reward for people who are wiling to help others run the raid and give them a deterministic way to earn their last piece or two.
-
If there was trading I would've helped ppl get to 30 but of course not. I raided last night absolutely no hear for anyone. But of course baby bumper for atheon! TOP PRIORITY! Even tho it's still crazy buggy.
-
Then everyone will complain that you didnt earn your Raid gear.
-
Did the Raid once on normal and got gloves. Beat the oracle section on hard and got boots. Same hard run, we pushed off the Templar and I got the chest armor. My helm is exotic.
GG RNGesus
-
You bring up some valid points. I personally played some mmos with some pretty difficult loot systems so to me getting something for every raid is nice. Then again I can understand the frustrations. If the added currency took 2 weeks to accrue enough for a piece of gear 3 weeks for pre-gun I think it would be sufficient for gearing purposes.
-
Won't happen. Bungie wants to have people grind the shit out of this game. They think it will add longevity to their game, but most people will want to quit.
-
An image of my inventory. Please take note of the ascendent material I own. I haven't done the daily mission in about two weeks. Probably not as bad as others, but still pretty annoying.
