According to what I have seen so far everyone freaks out over the fact that destiny doesn't have a strong story element and we are forgetting all about the gameplay, which is excellent, fast paced, and smooth, but nobody cares anymore whether a game is fun to play or not, we just want some amazing story like "The Last of Us" had, and I think this is why so many people incessantly complain about destiny not having enough narrative.

Why would you ever want to play a game, or enjoy one more over, that does not have a story to tell, interesting characters that you like, and a purpose. Shooters are pretty lame for the most part without a decent plotline/ reason for the constant gunfire. The more character a game has the more you'd be willing to replay it. I mean Tales of Symphonia is 11 years old, has 80+ hours of core content and a fantastic storyline and some awesome characters I always love to play through. I'd rate is as better in terms of mechanics, plot, hell art design than most other games developed in the last 10 years.
