YOU WANNA KNOW WHY WE'RE FARMING!!??
Because farming gives you the same amount, if not, more loot then you would in a strike or whatever. Why go through the trouble of constantly dying, leaving teammates, and bullet sponge bosses when you have an easier time getting 5 times the rewards farming the cave.
Don't deny it, YOU KNOW ITS TRUE!!!

5 RepliesI do the cave for the time it takes to get the public event and move on, I agree about the loot drop rate compared to other activities but it's so dull. I love how Bungie moved the Warsat drop area to nuke farmers.

Because the game is meant to farm not cheat the game out of easy drops. The game is hard for a reason so yeah start farming like the rest of us because I hope they nerf the loot cave next :D

I do both farming and playing. While I won't lie about farming the cave, it just gets horribly boring to keep shooting at a hole to get better gear to... be better at shooting at the same hole in search of even better gear??? I know Destiny is part MMORPG, but remember, the other half is FPS action shooter, and if we don't do any of that and are only interested in hoarding gear, then we've really lost our way haven't we?

The current loot system is random. Farming wouldn't be a thing if there was specific ways to earn your loot. But after six repeating strikes of me getting nothing while my friends all get something I can see farming as a valid option. I did just as much if not more in those strikes as my friends, but I got nothing for it, while they were all rewarded. The loot systems is fair in that everyone can get something. But it is unfair in that many of those who participate don't. I am addicted to this game and love it greatly. But it does have some issues that keep it from the legendary status we all hoped for.

2 RepliesIn an hour of crucible, while doing bounties, I can get enough marks to buy a legendary piece of gear, and I can also get enough rep to level up my crucible rank and get a legendary package from the postmaster. The same applies to vanguard rep/marks with strikes/patrols etc. In an hour of cave exploiting, which you've chosen to misinterpret as farming, you'd be lucky to get one legendary engram. And you'd be even luckier for that legendary engram to actually give you something legendary.

You wanna know why I farm cause its almost impossible to get any good loot through strikes its all random. Some guy can die like 8 times maybe 20 kills and you get over 50+ kills never had die and get nothing while everybody else gets bloody FREAKING RARE GEAR THAT YOU NEED IN ORDER TO FLIPPING RAISE YOUR STUPID LIGHT RANK IN ORDER TO DO THE STUPID RAID OR ANYTHING ELSE OR EVEN HAVE A FREAKING EDGE IN PVP. I AM GONNA FARM IF ITS THE FASTEST WAY TO GET ANYWHERE. EVEN IF YOU GET A LEGENDARY ENGRAM IT CAN TURN BLUE AND BE LOWER LEVELED THEN THE ONE YOU HAVE AND EVEN IF YOU CAN GET BLUE IT CAN TURN GREEN I DONT HAVE TIME TO DO STRIKES OVER AND OVER TO GET USELESS JUNK AND SPEND HOURS TRYING TO GET 1 LEGENDARY! I MEAN IT TOOK ME DAYS JUST TO GET FOUR OF THEM AND I GOT REALLY LUCKY! (sorry lost my cool there) I am an mmo player but this loot drop rate is just ridiculous and if I have to farm I will if its the fastest way to get any good gear quickly. If you don't like farming then go shove your thumb up your butt and be one of those white knights and defend bungie while your sitting there grinding on strikes all day and pretending nothing is wrong! (jesus so many run on sentences)

Wish they would put phogoth in the loot cave. Would make farmers think twice considering bosses dont drop ANYTHING.

Were as I think your ment to earn those vanguard points an buy it. just think Standing in one spot for the length of time people seem to such a waste of a pretty good game. The best thing about the game is the maps anyway use them lol

because its more fun than farming? i tried the cave farm but it was borring as hell... Games are not about the amount of loot you get but about just having fun. but thats just my opinion :)

I'm half way in agreeance with you. to a certian point Strikes will be needed still becaue the 22 and 24 strikes have a better chancce of higher light gear. since the farm spot has only ever produced 1 legendary engram for me I've almost maxed out light. About the only piece I have that isn't 12+ is my arms and I ahven't had a decent arm drop in ages. Strikes also give marks for buying gear. I'll hit the farm spots when I'm bored and need to kill some time, or can't get a group of friends together. I hate random strike groups. They, like the RNG, never seem to go in my favor. It's mostly a lack of comunitcation. Maybe if RNG was nicer to me I might hit farming spots more, but yeah I mostly agree with you.

So not only is it a waste of time to farm them, but it's incredibly boring. That time is better spent doing bounties, playing daily/weekly/nightfall missions, playing crucible for fun or marks or faction rep, doing public event loops for marks if you haven't maxed them yet, or doing patrols for faction/vanguard rep, etc. Farming engrams would only be useful for getting materials, legendary ones drop at about the same rate just playing other things farming is only going to give you lots of blues and greens to dismantle.

So typical in today's gaming community : "why play the game and experience the challenge of actually killing bosses on increased difficulty when I can find an exploit which requires no skill and get a similar reward?!" It's no fun standing in front a cave for hours, you're essentially turning that cave into a really boring bullet sponge boss which you seem to loath do deeply.

1 ReplyIt also beats the painful grind for vanguard rank 2 or 3 that you need to do to even buy any gear with marks. I really don't blame people for using the farming method with that in mind.

its the nature of the game, at the end everybody farms/grinds. farming strike, raid, loot boxes, spinmetal etc for weapon upgrades, engrames. and there are more places to farm but indeed the Hive cave is popular. solution is simple, put a respawn timer on 1 minute, dont think most people will wait so long for respawn. but then they also need a restriction on how many times you may die in a mission/strike/raid because there are some know famring points too :-)

Yes, totally true, budgie really need to sort this out, legendary engrams should only drop from bosses and rarely on strike trash mobs.
