“They’ll find that they’re immersed in a different world, and are deep into the history of their characters."
Err,..?
did i missed something and there was a tiny little bit of a "story" on/about the background of "my character" ? Deep? history? after 20 hours ? besides where should it come from if not from the stpry mode, which is over after 6-8 hours? Or should that be the request to read the grimoire cards to actualy do the job by yourselves that otherwise any game does ?

It's funny because I remember Bungie saying something like "We are the type of people to put down the game after 5 minutes if we don't like it". A lot of people are saying they didn't like the game in the beginning. That's just ironic to me
-
Yup. After 20 hours, about all you can do its replay instances you've already played. But on a harder difficulty setting. So there's that.
-
After 20 hours? It went from roaming the planets doing bounties and completing story missions to.. ..Farming Engrams. Farming Chests. Mindlessly shooting a Strike boss for 20+ minutes straight. Turning in purple engrams for blue items. Yeah it's changed alright. I'm having the time of my life.
-
80 hours in same game, fun by it hasn't changed
-
It is. It suck after 20 hours
-
All I know is that after 20 hours everyone has maxed out shotguns/fusion rifles and that can one shot you at midrange and make pvp completely frustrating.
-
Yeah, how dare they force to you read something!!! We want everything laid out in front of us by a harem of bikini clad video vixens and tied up in nice pretty bows. I can see you're the type who needs to be spoon fed his information. Hell, you link an article from Gamestop, which precipitates your inability to come up with your own conclusions or do your inquisition. What he should have said is "It's different after 20 hours if you pay attention." Problem is the average gamer's attention span is short than a goldfish.

Im level 24 and pretty much right now the answer is no.It maybe it is if your level 26 and get to do the glass vault raid but so far I keep getting enigmas that are lower then my current equipment

I can stomach playing the same thing over and over again. I have close to 10 pay throughs of the Mass Effect trilogy currently on another one. Where this game fails the most is making me want to repeat those missions, I need some kind of goal or aspiration. With ME it's to play things through differently to see different results, with say dungeon siege its to use a new character and see their story, with this it's to get a picture of a new helmet that may or may not be the same colour as the last one. They're lying.

Edited by ROBERTO jh: 9/16/2014 1:40:09 PMTo the people who are saying to just read the Grimoire Cards for the story: I never want to see any of you complain about Halo 4 "requiring" extra material to understand ever again. Edit: Also, a game that takes 20 hours to get good is a poorly made game, ala FFXIII

I still love this game. I don't mind grinding by doing the same stuff over and over. It's still fun.

Most games main stories are not that long. Even a game like Skyrims main story can be be completed real quick. But its not just the story that keeps me logging in over 100 hours of gameplay. Part of the allure of Destiny is creating your own stroy. The loot you collected, the strikes you completed, the players your smited in the crucible or getting together with a clan mates or friends and going to the vault of glass. Those are the things that are going to keep me playing for some time

I feel like it is a completely different game after 20 hours. I practice different tactics, have more friends than ever on my PSN account, am playing different modes and leveling differently. Armor matters to me more than weapons right now. I am enjoying leveling up sunslinger. So for me I am playing the game completely differently and for different objectives than in the first couple of hours.

From the things you've done. You and your character have a history, and stories, because of how much time you've spent playing him.
-
I don't know who the -blam!- finishes the story in 6-8 hours but I spent 15 hours straight playing the game on launch and I only just got to Mars..
-
Grimoire cards give no history on you character unless you make the assumption the ghost memories are yours somehow.
-
Read your Grimoire entries.

Edited by Belatar: 9/16/2014 12:58:34 PMHave you read the grimmer cards? That's where your history lies, there's a reason why we get those things. And the background of your character is in your gear, your head, and in your stats man. As far as the story, it's not very deep because there's no petty drama, it's just epic, lord of the rings is deep without petty drama but they are books. And I think they are keeping the story missions thin so they can easily add more to the game. Also, this game is more about the fight than anything else, it's a serious action movie. I do think the oversold this aspect of the game but I don't think it was that bad.

Bungie says "you haven't played Destiny yet". Maybe you should trying playing it first instead of crying and whining about a video game you don't play.

They will be releasing content every so often to keep the game interesting. I don't know about the 20 hours thing, but there will be interesting stuff coming out soon.
