DUST 514, the Free-To-Play version of Destiny's Iron Banner Event
Hunter here,
You see, in COD, strafing doesn't matter. You are dead in 1/4th of a second if you take damage.
In Dust 514 and Destiny, strafing Is everything.
Destiny is not a twitch shooter. More of a tracking/strafing shooter, much like DUST 514.
Where your fitting choices add to your overall HP and performance (Similar to iron banner events).
Where your specific weapon level allows you to have perks such as higher damage, reload speed, ammo capacity, and recoil reduction.
Where you can add Shield extender modules and armor plates to grant you the HP amount that you desire. Similar to destiny where you can choose skills that add more armor HP.
In DUST 514, you can even use modules that increase your sprint speed and Shield recovery speed. Other modules decrease shield recovery delay times. Heck you can even put on armor repair modules that will instantly begin repairing your armor even while you are taking damage.
In DUST 514, you can also use modules that will dampen your profile, allowing you to evade enemy radar. You can use equipment such as cloaks or nanohives (Armor repairing/ammo supplying shield bubbles). Sounds like the Hunter bladedancer, and the Titan Defender to me.
This is how DUST 514 is, and it is VERY MUCH like destiny.
Where you are rewarded sweet loot at the end of every match, taken from the fallen soldiers that have died during battle.
But COD has none of those things, besides the usual weapon attachment benefits.
DUST is like Destiny and Battlefield but with it's own economy, and it is connected to the PC game EVE ONLINE. Pilots in eve can call down orbital strikes to devastate the opposing forces with laser bombardments.
And if you have no idea what DUST 514 is, it is a Free FPS game exclusive to the Playstation 3; with the sequel possibly coming to PC and also maybe PS4 down the road.
So if you are looking to scratch that Destiny itch with something unique and refreshing, download DUST 514, and free yourself from the FPS prison that most of you don't even know that you are in.

2 RepliesThough Destiny is a little like Dust, Destiny is better with customization, skill, options, weapons, and slightly better net code. Destiny is also a game where you don't have to spend $80 a week just to keep up against other players. Destiny also balances out weapons, where Dust gives the major advantage to people who spend $80 a week and play the game every second of the day. Destiny is not Dust, as AMC's motto is,"It's something better".

2 RepliesI played Dust for a few months last year. I really liked it, but the fact that the gear is so sparse, the fact that you have to buy it all with in game and real life money (for the really good stuff) AND the fact that you have to replenish the stock of all of said gear kinda' killed it for me. I was big into MAG when it was the game to play on the PS3. Played it religiously in fact (SVER won the Shadow War, BTW. FOR THE BROTHERHOOD!!!), and in many ways Dust was just like MAG in terms of map size, combat and emphasis on vehicles. It's just that micro-transaction/micro-management aspect of Dust that made me take a step back from it.

3 RepliesI played Dust514 when it came out of closed beta,and made many a fool with my trusty mass driver. I think the game has major potential but they canned support and 3/4 of the population bounced.

That game was all downhill from the beta, it just go progressively worse.

2 RepliesExcept Dust is an abandoned shell of a concept. It was intended to basically be what destiny is, minus the magic, and with much more political/economic influence, as well as a darker, grittier overlay. CCP wants to start over with Legion, but that just looks like 1080p Dust... I wish them the best of luck

Half the things you described for armor modules are simply perks in CoD. Also if I didn't strafe in CoD I doubt I would have the K/D I do. You need to edit and rearrange the body to where the last sentence is first. And just don't reference the shyte CoD.

A little Sony Vegas magic to give the DUST 514 footage here a slight higher Frame per Second feel to it. Been testing it to see how I can edit the cinematic shots for the Machinima.

8 RepliesIt's pretty badass. And the shear amount of skills available is daunting. DUST-514 works in tandem with EVE Online, and players in EVE can aid players in DUST by supply drop and Orbital Bombardment of enemy positions.

1 ReplyWell hell, if you're gonna give it a go, try out our corporation: Shadow Company HQ (SCHQ). We've been playing since closed beta and still hold weekly practices on Sunday and Wednesday, 10:00 pm est. for about an hour. Look us up in game or on our website at shadowcompanyhq.com we support Battlefield 4, COD:GHOSTS, Killzone:SF and Titanfall as well and we will be participating here in Destiny in both PvP and PvE. While Dust:514 was/is unique, they (CCP) failed in the follow through. The community keeps it fun (mostly) but has just as many trolls in their waters as we have here. Like the op said, if you've exhausted all other games, finished your chores and homework, trimmed your nose hairs, dusted your ceiling fans, plucked your ingrown hairs, shaved your back and stared at the sun then you may as well give Dust a try. Future Vision Trailer. DUST was a promising game, but it does fall short on their promises of PVE, deeper connection with EVE, and user friendly mechanics. However, it is one of the craziest free FPS games in my book. This game has taken away my interest in Battlefield 4, COD, and other more generic FPS games. A free game managing to do that? It is at least worth going through the academy (Training). A game that was very unappreciated and under marketed. But once you look past it's flaws, you can see that it does bring some elements to the table that are very similar to Destiny.

3 RepliesThe concept was awesome, but the execution was terrible. so much so that CCP scrapped DUST to make Project Legion. Which is not a sequel, but the game that was promised 4+ years ago.
