In a matter of a day or so we are relaunching That Wizard Came From The Moon. Those who signed up for the email newsletter expect an email and link.
We have spent the last 2 weeks taking in all your feedback and have created a better Guardian Finder for us to connect and become more than a group of strangers playing a game. Hopefully we build a community of Guardians that join Raid Teams with new friends and old, to push back the darkness together. All as Legend.
I will post all the details after launch but we really hope you will come and join us, and build a community of Guardians.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Introducing The Guardian Finder
A site for Guardians to find and team up with you on Raids. It's not match making by any means but we have seen so many posts of PSN Network IDs and Xbox Gamer Tags that we felt the community needed a single searchable place that could go to find all members of the community for the upcoming Raids.
Simply go to the site our new site: http://thatwizardcamefromthemoon.com and click the SIGN ME UP button. We set it up to send you a link to your own Profile Page to answer a couple of easy questions. We wanted to start simple but later we can add more if the community wants it. We are starting with the basics:
Network ID
Platform
Headset
Preferred Class
Hours Per Week
Timezone
The best part is you can sort by the above categories. You want to find 5 other Hunters on the East Coast that play an average of 20+ hours on a PS4. BOOM Done. This is a free service for the community created by a couple of guys who are still waiting for Destiny, DAMN you August. So keep that in mind. Consider it a really long Alpha for us. We also will post polls based on your feedback of things to try and add to the site to enhance the experience. If you have skills to help shoot us an email too, we have a contact form in the menu as well.
Gmail and Yahoo users; Check your SPAM folder for the email your Profile Page.
Sign up and see you all in the Tower on September 9.

So my only complaint so far is I have two consoles with destiny on both... How is someone going to find me on my second console? Make two accounts? : /
-
Nice name.
-
We relaunched the site with a way better experience. Read the new post and sign up now.
-
Great site. I've found a lot of great people already. There are also some good ideas in the comments below, to make it even better.
Bump
-
Awesome site. Keep up the good work.
-
I've added around 50+ players and adding more. Hope this site takes off more. Seems to have died the past few days.
-
While a good idea there are still flaws, most Destiny players don't use the bungie site and I'm guessing even fewer will use this one, it helps streamline the process for sure but still requires you to see if there online, send an message then friend invite and that is hopefully before they are already doing something. At least more people are willing to do something to help out and hopefully Bungie will take notice, doing the raid should take time and preparation but getting the people together for it should take not take an hour to accomplish.

Edited by Kilo: 8/7/2014 10:01:43 PMI love the logo. Also I have an XB1 and PS4. There should be an option to list both.

first off: great work so far! As you're probably already busy enough, I'll come straight to my suggestions: Only allow people to use the World Timezone for their location (UTC). Right now people are using Timezones like: Western European Time Western European Summer Time Western European Daylight Time HAWAII STANDARD TIME ECUADOR TIME and so on, and so on. Using UTC timezones for everyone makes everything WAY easier to !!sort!! and check, as it is one format. UTC either + or - x. Please check this link. It has a compiled list, as well as a screenshot with every timezone. Next: Hours per week doesn't sort correctly (pretty sure you know that already). When sorting ascending right now its: 5-10, 20+, 15-20, 10-15 and 1-5. Simple solution: only make these values available: 5+, 10+, 15+, 20+, 25+, 30+, 40+, 45+, .... For age there should only be a number. Not stuff like: 30+, 30's, 16 ( Mature), ? (yes, one guy indeed put ? as his age). Unfortunately people are lazy (no offense), so for Platform, Headset, Preferred Class, Hours Per Week, Timezone and Age only let people choose from predefined values in drop-down boxes. Also there should be a multi-sorting feature. Like 6 drop-downs. First filters only Platform, second Headset, third Timezone, etc.. If only 2 sort-drop-downs have been used by the user, use these (don't make it mandatory for a user to use ALL sorting drop-downs). Because now, after sorting by timezone, you'd still need to filter platform, age and hours by yourself. This can be annoying as the number of users using your site increases. Thats it from me. Again nice work and keep it up!

U shoulda post this on September 8 ... not now People will forget about it on launch day
-
This is a really good initiative! Respect for creating this to help people and props for the design!
-
I'm seeing PS4 users with "Will have a headset before Destiny comes out" What did you do with the old one?
-
Nice overall design of the site! I would request the ability to search multiple fields of the database. Example: search for Xbox One users over the age of 25 who play during Eastern hours and use Headsets.
-
looking for raids players me and my bro ids ArgEv1L and teagitohdp

For the preferred class it would be nice to have that hyperlinked to their Guardians gear profile. Obviously they would have to supply the link themselves. But it could look like this: Class: Hunter That way you can not only find people by Console, Time, etc., but also by people that have setups you think work well with yours. Or if you really care, it would take out the 'random' factor of just adding people by supplying more info about their play style.
-
You should add an "available date/time" feature
-
Anybody know how long it should be before the email shows up? Fantastic work OP, it's a shame I can't pay you in glimmer!
-
Edited by JEGVL: 8/7/2014 6:52:01 AMCool website and all...but now I'm a bit confused. Should I use this, or raidDestiny.com ....hmm choices choices. Also this site really needs the option to log in, I am actually concerned this site is being advertised with out that feature included. Someone might want to change something or made a mistake. You could then have a live chat split in 4 sections representing each console like raid destiny does, but you would need a account to use the chat and your psn/xbla would be your username.
-
Just a suggestions but you should allow us to search for more than one thing at a time ie. Being able to see all the ps4 players in the Pacific timezone. I dunno I just think that would make this awesome tool even awesomer
-
Edited by TheGrayingTech: 8/7/2014 4:19:04 AMThis is great, Well done. I added my info and will accept anyone on XBOne or PS4.
-
I can't believe what I'm seeing. After all the complaining people have been doing over raids and matchmaking someone on a forum has actually done something constructive to solve the problem. Mind blown. While I'm not going to jump on this now I will put a link to you site on every "No Raid Matchmaking" cry fest thread I see.
-
bookmarked for now! looks like a good idea.
-
Oh!!! This is awesome! Thank you for making this website! Much easier now to find players my own age, platform and play time! :D
I just shed a tear...

^^not really..but till excited to get my game on!
-
Not sure if you've changed anything. But your sort could be improved upon. Right now you are using a sort feature that is just by one category. It would be a nice addition to use filters instead so we can not only select "Xbox One" but also "Timezone" that way we can narrow the results down further. As the database gets bigger, your filters need to expand to help compensate or else we are looking at too big a list look through.
-
End game strikes and raids are two different things, no one ever said the end game strikes don't have matchmaking.
-
Great idea! Way too many timezones haha. You have duplicate timezones, one is in all caps and the other is standard. Very happy you guys put in the time to do this.
