Destiny... if you hate it, dislike it, or say it's a ripoff....

I can understand (but not to the level others do, I'm not them and wouldn't speak for them) why there are some COD players who are generalizing, and making comparisons between "Destiny" and "COD". I can only speculate what they are feeling that justifies their anger in their accusations. Destiny is a video game. This beta is a sample that just stands as a testament to the hard work and effort Bungie has put forth to provide the gaming industry with something above the standards of developers who launch broken or non functional products. Dice and it's ATROSTICIZING launches of broken Battlefailed titles, Trion Worlds and it's SEVENTY FOUR broken Defiance updates over a year later, and Aliens Colonoscopy Marinated Marines are all games meant to constipate consumers and taken advantage of them to the point where the developers like EA state we the consumers have accepted buying broken and non finished games, have become jaded at betas and developer pre-ordering. Because of Randy "B*tch" Turd (Gearbox), Lars Buttherder(Trion Worlds), and John "charge consumers a dollar to reload guns" Riccitiello from Electronic Arts the industry got harder to trust. Bungie has given the gaming industry what appears to be a very more than just average game. I'm greatful for the opportunity to test it, despite the Bungie account system failing to send me my beta keys. Titanfall fell short of providing a game of Destinys standards IMO by launching a game and providing an idea of genre changing magnitude if only to abandon it post launch and leave it as the bare bones minimum with nothing but a couple game modes and stock emblems based on TITANS... all three of them... For the next year. And that was it for Respawn. They'll map pack it. Titanfalls forums are like reading the obituaries of ideas that could have been, but died in its uterus in development. Destiny appears to take the magic of the trade port system of KOTOR, the better than vomititious guns of borderlands by replacing quantity with actual QUALITY of weapons, the landscape design of sandbox gameplay that you're not glitching through that gets ported to all platforms like Pat Bach and his horrendous Frostbite engine, and the cooperative gameplay a game has needed forever and beyond in this industry for a decade. If anyone states this game is a COD rip off, or copies other games, it's because the pedestals upon which those accusatory players have placed their favorite games dwarf in comparison to Destiny, and what it's offering from years of the industries mistakes, and successes. If you don't like the beta, if you don't like the game, if you TRUELY feel that the game you worship has been stolen from it's only because the game you are a fanboy of will now be forced to stand on it's tiny pedestal where you placed it so you could peek up its skirt... and Your game that will be standing on its pedestal below the mountain will now be forced to sniffle at the heels of and shed tears upon the shoes of a better game. A game that will define the beginning of a better generation. A game by developers with standards, quality, morals and ethics. It's called "Destiny". It proves more than 60fps doesn't matter. It proves the industry is capable of more than what lesser developers put out. If you don't like it.... It's because you can't comprehend quality when you've lived a life of everything less than that. See you at the Traveller. A gamer since 1983 on the AppleII and II+ computers.

  • "There is no return policy between the games that are advertised, and the game we GET". My major point with everything I wrote was the the point above. Grimno has an EXCELLENT point, because SimCity, Battlefield:Bad Company2, Battlefield: 4, SimCity, Aliens:CM, Defiance (#1 review on Amazon since launch) and other games upon launch are purchases "we" the consumers make. Even IF we don't pre-order a game, we are still left facing the exact consequences when we buy it the same as pre-ordering of an industry that by its own making has become a never ending circle of the following. Upon purchasing an advertised or non advertised game you've crossed "the point of no return".... Literally. IGN, Gamespot, Rev3 Games, Machinima... are all part of a system by which the business model has been corrupted not because reviewers are entirely at fault, but because reviewers are given a "piecemeal" showcasing of a product in a controlled digital environment, and only shown the FUNCTIONAL and PRETTY posturing of a long legged product that walks down a catwalk to music at the commands of a keyboard or console controller to be displayed... and when we buy it we get the prostituted community-salt-lick blow up doll version that was not what the developers showed us or what the reviewers stated was intended after it's been deflated and re-flated to the point it needs "Patches" (see what I did there? I'm just having my coffee right now btw). And at the moment we all click the "purchase" button it's right in our faces. .......there is no return..... etc etc. About a decade ago the standard was set for those words. The process by which developers had the ability to "Sell broken, patch LATER" gave EA, DICE, Trion Worlds, Blueside Phantagram, Microsoft, Sony, Gearbox ( ugh ), Square Enix, Overkill, Starbreeze Studios, Turtle Rock, Capcom, THQ, From Software, Ubisoft, Danger Close Studios, Atari Bedlam, Sega (off the top of my head) and every developer the right to seal a game into a package to be shipped and/or sold physically/digitally with little to zero functionality at the expense of our "time", or "money", our "efforts" that within the game became wasted. Don't tell me that's not happened to you. There are good things about every game if you look hard enough. Based on every individuals standards and patience for functionality of course. But my point that some are missing (and some are able to see for which I'm greatful) is that BUNGIE, who to me personally has the BEST RECORD to date, is giving us a look at something above and beyond the industry's horrible machine. Beyond Respawns abandoned Titanfall. Beyond Dice's ruined Frostbite Engine. Beyond the reviewers sub-standard truths. Bungie is providing... A game with STANDARDS. The servers may very well be a mess on launch day. I can see the third party servers not being ready because a bunch of people who don't care wiggle their way through an internship into the server farm and decide to screw with it all. Any things possible. My major point is that over the last decade COD, Battlefield, Borderlands, SimCity, Aliens:CM, Kingdom Under Fire:CoD, Mass Effect, GTA, Defiance, Armored Core, Final Fantasy, Fable, every single game may have good points..... But not one of any of the aforementioned developers didn't avoid manipulating the system. Especially EA. The audacity of selling this is nauseating. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1SfGqoeSXY&sns=em Bungie is on the cusp of defining this new gaming generation by resetting the standard to which we may hold developers too high. But after the last 5-6 years, we f*cking deserve a developer with Bungies god damned standards. I'm pretty sure Bungie knows this. There's too many things in the beta that are the better or correct ways of implementation that failed or were poorly implanted in games before Destiny. And if you've bought a game from any of the aforementioned developers over the last 5-6 years you know exactly what standards I'm talking about. If you've taken my original post personally and have been offended somehow, that's cool. We all have different standards. Mine are really high when it comes to my money being spent, and still too high when it comes to people who spend it for something less than exceptional. I'm talking about games in that regard. There is no tone of voice, mannerisms, or volume in posts on the web. Please remember that. And thanks for all those who took time to read the original post and maybe this one. It's appreciated. Gotta go to work. TL;D"proof read" LOL
