If Bungie doesn’t keep Rasputin dead the stakes are gone.
Killing Cayde established stakes.
Since then, no one had stayed dead. Savathun, Eramis, Osiris, Crow anyone and everyone in between.
In the final cutscene of the season, Elsie says to Anna look as a glow that seems reminiscent of a Ghost Revival lights the room.
If Ana gets her self programmed boyfriend back, then what is at stake here? Is this an epic sci-fi franchise or a soap opera?

Almost all opfor we are pointed at Caydes nightstalker buddy 8 or 9 of the Iron lords The speaker "We came down as a team of 9"-Taeko Numerous casualties of the red war The crew of the exodus black All seen killed/dead in game/cutscene before Cayde dies. Adding in the lore info off the top of my head, not witnessed in gameplay/cutscenes or after Caydes death. Most of humanity in the collapse Twilight gap/six fronts The 1000 guardian assault on the moon Eris raid team (Toland "lives" and Omar's a gun now) 9 gaurdians killed by Petra The dmt guardian Sloane (MIA but most likely KIA) Honestly if you're wanting more death I'd recommend 40k or something written by George Martin.

That's all that's left of the human race, and we have a force that has exterminated countless races facing us, that nearly got us the first time. Our backs are against the wall and facing some long odds.

So Ana looks at them to see that Rasputin's final act saved the traveller and possibly humanity. The glow was the screens. Not a ghost randomly turning up. Typically ghosts turn up long after a potential Guardian has died. Not immediately after. So I'm sure he will stay dead. In regards to the other characters: Savathun had an agenda and needed to die to be brought back as a light bearer in order to fulfil that agenda. Eramis never actually died. And then she was frozen, which isnt dead. Osiris never died, he lost Sagira, his ghost and was in a coma. Crow [b]did[/b] die (well Uldren), but bringing him back has huge cultural and story driven meaning and is significant.

Also, Rasputin is closer to Ana’s child, but thanks for making it weird. Edit: only reason Savathun came back was because we brought her back. She was reborn, but we’re the ones who gave her back her memories, changing the newly risen Guardian into the old Savathun.

5 RepliesOut of all those you listed, Savathun is the only one to come back from the dead and only because it was all part of her plan. Plus with her ghost she can still return just like you or any other guardian who “dies”. Pretty much everyone else you listed didn’t die in the first place. Crow never died, Uldren did. They’ve been very clear on them being distinctly different people. Osiris was possessed, not killed. Eremis was frozen never killed. Her return was never a matter of IF but instead WHEN.

4 RepliesEw no Rasputin is more of a child or father figure to Anna. And who cares if whoever is revived. It’s a game and we aren’t the one making it so we can’t really do anything but provide feedback that will more or less be read over and probably just brushed off majority of the time.

Just remember, ultimately speaking, Rasputin is a computer. As long as any memory retaining hardware exists, some part of him does. He was on every planet in the system, so unless the Darkness is drilling any drives they find...

2 RepliesYet each and everyone one of those has a lore reason for not staying dead. Except Osiris and Eramis, as they didn’t die to begin with. Savathun was dead and was revived. Uldren was dead and was revived as Crow. You Cayde fans are bordering on necro status. So if Rasputin comes back, it would be a valid revival.

From a story telling perspective I mostly agree. Only wrinkle there is that we’re in a setting where heroic people are specifically targeted for resurrection. So, technically, in any other universe it’d be horrible narrative management. In this one? I dunno. It fits. I’d take either fork in this road happily.

There is no shasme in replacing lesser characters and their voice actors. The only voice left you really couldn't replace is Lance Reddick. If he ever stops wanting to do Destiny I am sure they will kill Zavala too.

I mean Rasputin is really just an AI (a mind) when creating a guardian ur really just putting new life into an existing body. That exo frame wasn’t even made to be a regular body u can move around in but rather a storage unit for information and Rasputin AI. So there’s nothing really to bring back, as Rasputin never had an actual body. With regular characters we can associate them with who they were due to their body. Even though the Crow isn’t Uldren we can still identify him as having been him due to having his body. Same can be said for Ana. However Rasputin can only be really associated with his mind as we don’t really have a body to associate him with apart from his Exo frame which was just for storage and not movement.

He literally calls himself a Guardian in the cutscene so I'd just start crying now so that by the time he's brought back, you're okay.

Rasputin met the requirements to become a Guardian. Theres a good chance he gets revived again. In addition he probably has a backup file of his memory saved/ stored somewhere allowing him to remember what he was.

Was that image really there? Why did Eramis look behind her as if looking for the witness? Was this a reveal that Eramis is the witness? Or was this just done to pit traveler against witness? Make them feel your pain vs. Hey now, my boyfriend's back! Paracsusal tug o' war?
