Sunsingers - Fireborn

Fireborn is a gimmick. With a full super, Fireborn Sunsingers should get a buff to damage, similar to Weapons of Light. That single change might fix this broken subclass.

I know it'll be a really unpopular opinion, but I kinda wish they would put Fireborn into another Solar Warlock class (call it Thatanonaut?) and keep Sunsinger more support-based with buffs to your allies. Right now we've got grenades that give +5% damage for everyone (really neglegible in my opinion) on whatever it hits and Song of Flame (which isn't too bad, for one perk). Sure you can use Touch to stack the Viking Funeral effect on Solar grenades or use Radiant Will to make Song last longer, but I kinda wish it was easier to make it more helpful to teammates in the form of buffs, and didn't require that you do very specific things with the subclass. Sunsinger is kinda overused because it's decent everywhere, and it doesn't feel like there's any specialization which you see in other subclasses. That being said, it would probably be a great chore to clean up the grimoire if this were to happen...

No, I'd rather have Radiance give bonus damage to my Grenades when active, and have Song of Flame lend that damage boost to other teammates' abilities, including their Supers. At the very least, I would rather have Radiant Skin provide a Weapons of Light damage boost to Kinetic primaries, and grant them Solar Damage. Maybe have Radiant Skin also extend to teammates. The most I'd want for Fireborn is a significant increase to movement speed and Recovery for you and your allies when active, whether you activate Radiance while alive or dead. Gotta think reasonably. It would be too much to give it something like bonus weapon damage while only holding a Super charge. Maybe while Radiance is active, but not just because you're sitting on your Super. Having Radiant Will act similar to Simmering Flaming, or the opposite of it, would be an idea though.

  • Fireborn happens to be a gimmick that has saved countless VoG and CE runs.

...tlolock, and skorri artifact stacked with sunbreaker and Viking funeral and scorch shield, you now how a supporting player who decrease super charge for their team, can apply BURN from a distance with long lasting baby stars which will make enemy's take more damage, a quick oversheild creation to give that slight buff to toughness for when a hot res is needed alongside a pretty powerful dps primary. And that's not including the insta res if a mistake is made. Try stacking high disc and. Str. And using the raid fusion with this, overwhelmed and solar grenades for days with sun breaker gloves

    • They kinda get something extra with skorii's artifact. But I think a little extra weapon damage or even better shields would make it decent.

Fireborn needs something similar to the Sunbreaker's Scorched Earth+Firekeeper where they gain an overshield while standing in a Sunspot. But it should just be a one time deal on activation of Fireborn for 3 seconds so that you aren't a sitting duck and have a fighting chance. The overshield should be strong enough to tank a headshot from any sniper while running max Armor. Since they reduced the duration of Radiance while using Fireborn I think this is a fair compromise.

I think if fireborn got changed at all it should work like this... When your super is charged you lose your melee and grenades, BUT you cause a burn AoE around your guardian, igniting any nearby enemies. Upon activating radiance from death, you regain your grenades and melee abilities and they will have no cooldown while radiance is active. Activating radiance while alive operates as normal. This makes you sacrifice your abilities to hold onto the charged super and use it as a lifeline, while encouraging Warlocks to stay engage in the fight.

        • I don't agree. With fire born at the ready, you can play super aggressive during higher level PVE content while all the other classes won't want to risk it. If you happen to go down, you pop back up and coat all of your enemies in fire. Creating a bunch of orbs in the process. The subclass lends itself to a certain style of play. Once you play to its strengths, you can help your team more than you might think.

          • Use radiant skin with touch of flame and Viking funeral. Chuck fusions in between ghallarhorn shots. Combined with tether and bubble this makes GREAT dps. That's how I beat aksis.

            • If used correctly, a sunsingers radiance is capable of the most damage output out of all the supers. And by a very large margin. 6 sunsingers throwing fusions at vosik can nearly down him in one phase.

                • It would fix the broken subclass but it would make it SUPER broken on the op side. You can 1 shot with any high impact sniper when it's fully charged. It would break the meta.

                  • I always used it as a backup in Nightfalls (when it would actually boot you out to orbit) I'm kinda curious to see how that new artifact that boosts your teams super regen rate while you hold yours + Tlaloc will work together for my SS now.

                    • They should just combine Fireborn and Radiance. That way you can just go into Radiance whenever. Would make the subclass useful again. Then bring back the original charge rate of the Heart of Praxic fire.

                      • It is essentially a Final Attack + Life2 paring, but being able to use it anytime after death. We still get to throw more Fire2 balls (Fire3 with Sunbreakers) and our Melee can still Flash kill non Supered Guardians. As far as adding extra Weapon Damage, it isn't too far off, but what about upon using Radiance the fire released from being "Reborn" swirls around you in an upward motion, AoE damage with Tiny range so to speak. DoT would not apply considering the DoT is only applicable to yer melee (grenades as well with Ignite). I am thinking the damage should just be a flat 110. This way its not too strong to piss off the forums and considering the potential for multi-hits/kills with it just made that shotgunner rethink his choice of pants this morning.

                        • That would be stupidly broken. Sunsinger Warlock charges super, sits at back of map with a sniper and body shots everyone. That would be the new meta.

                          • ... Except that Fireborn is actually so clutch I got sick of constantly needing to run it in Year 1? It's value is more situational in PvP, perhaps, but it's better than a Gjallarhorn in PvE sometimes.
