The Taken King: Value vs Cost issue

So I thought I'd let the dust settle before I commented and read the other various articles around the Web on places such as Planet Destiny and Kotaku. This is from the point of view of an Alpha Destiny player, and invested up to this day. I do care about this game and this post stems mainly from disappointment. So this issues thst revolve around value vs Cost are a few distinct issues. Firstly the various versions on offer. If you consider that most GOTY editions of a game include the Base game and all DLC to THAT POINT, TTK is a slap in the face to players so far because for $20 extra you get the original $85 of content. Instead of paying $60 for the GOTY edition and THEN TTK being acquired separately. Awesome for new players or old returning players who never got the DLC. Shit for us long term players. Secondly, the different versions pricing across the various nations is a massive point of contention. I am a UK resident and NOT happy at all being screwed out of my money. When you factor in the extra digital 'collectors' content that any self respecting Destiny player CRAVES then TTK is a frightening proposition. Possibly looking at £60 for a DLC pack in its entirety when whole games cost less. Finally it's the content itself; can it really justify $40 pricetag when most players probably acquired Destiny for around this price? One or two locations at a push, one raid, 3 subclasses, a handful of PvP modes and maps and strikes and the 'Taken' who are old enemies repurposed. Ultimately apart from the extra subclass, we're basically looking at a big standard DLC pack like TDB with a better story questline. I'm not asking anyone for a boycott or anything silly and I am not suggesting you DONT buy the content, spend your money how you like. However I am trying to stimulate an adult conversation on the controversy in a measured way. Thanks for your time guys!

The pricing for the collectors edition and all, seems a bit odd. I believe they generally made a massive mistake and are doing a horrible job at saving face. Value is subjective, the content reported so far seems to be double that of previous DLCs and close to launch Destiny. I'm one of these strange individuals that was comlwlteky fine with Day 1 content, so I'd be hard pressed to find issue with TTK. Personally, the only thing that would throw me off from this game would a micro transaction system and the removal of a few key features for me. My opinion however, I'm an odd gamer. Not really into story, more into arcade style games, that are just fun. I play Destiny like I played Street Fighter or Galaga, a good load of fun, no sentimental attachment, or a need to achieve anything other than blowing shit up. I always thought the UK pricing was based on licencing and distribution laws, but I've noticed a few new release games not that far apart in pricing, so... Not sure what the story is there.
