EA owns the right to Porsche?

I hear this a lot among racing game fans and in Forza Motorsport 4 if you want to have Porsche, you have to buy Porsche via DLC for 20 -blam!-ing dollars. Is this true? Does EA really own the right to Porsche to be in racing games?

  • Yeah they even tried to expire the license of Forza's first three games that had Porsche in it. Its why Porsche doesn't exist in any other Racing Games instead you will see alternatives like RUF or RWB and is the reason why I still am sticking to Real Racing even though if Gran Turismo is still better

  • Based on articles I can find on the subject EA does still own the exclusive right to feature Porsche vehicles in their games. This goes both ways though. Up until recently Microsoft (And thus Forza), were the only ones who could feature Ferrari vehicles in their games. I think this license lapsed though, because NFS: Rivals does have Ferrari's in it.
