A public area in the tower for people to meet up for the specific purpose of raids
Public areas for the friendship impaired would be great. Especially when a lot of people may not have either enough friends on at any given time or not enough who want to raid at all.
Update: If an area were created, then the matchmaking would be up to the players. Since you can only have friends with you for the raid, it would be on your shoulders to interview new people. You wouldn't want to send a friend invite, let alone embark on an extremely challenging mission with people who might be the turd in the punch bowl.

A few friends and I, while playing other games actually sat down and thought about this idea. You could do a few different things, but there is a few problems with that. Posting a board or a gather area would indicate a similar WoW setup. Where people queue up for raids and whatnot. Destiny is about exploration and intimacy with ourselves and those around us. WoW basically has you go to the area, queue up, and bring you into a raid. Copying that would give off the idea Bungie intends to support such a setup. They don't. This game is for those few who want to get into a raid with clan members, giving people incentive after incentive to go after specialized groups most likely because they have upped the metrics for raids into the impossible. That raids IS LASO equivalent and possibly harder. Good idea, I personally would like that, but the untold consequences of such a thing would mean leading gamers into a false positive of hope.

Maybe something like a noticeboard that people currently in the tower can post on if they're looking to partner up, or join raid groups.

I saw a thread where someone introduced the idea of the Clan Hall where clan members could meet to join up for Strikes and Raids. This would guarantee that those not already in a fire team end up on the same server when they go to the hall. You could get to your hall by using an "elevator". It could also be decked out with clan achievement trophies and other decor. That way you don't have to friend everyone in your clan just to raid. You could use the forum to decide a time to meet at the Clan Hall and team up from there.

I had this danger idea a while ago. you don't need an official area for this. Community consensus will do. Hangar area for crucible, perhaps. You can check out player stats. To communicate: Sit if you are in a party. Dance if you are looking for a party. Point to somebody to ask for an invite. Point back to accept. You don't even need chat!

12 RepliesSo start something! Just because prox chat isn't enable doesn't mean we can't just agree to a procedure here on the forums. I propose that the "balcony" area of the tower (the area around and up the ramp to your left when you spawn) be the "hang out for raids area." If you want to raid, go hang out, dance, camp, whatever on this balcony; likeminded player will gravitate to this area and you can then use whatever communications methods you can find to setup a raid. Likewise, we can use the area back behind the Speaker's Alcove as the strike hangout area.

possibly its own section so its not linked to the tower sharing the player population with the rest of the people just popping through the tower That way we would get a bigger pool of guardians to look through to get a raid going

Bungie might need to increase the player size in the tower for this to work unless the raid meeting point was separate from the Tower and only for max level players. I would love it if it was in a bar, grand hall, docking bay or vault
