So, what do you think? Legitimate reasoning? Or complete "F-you-Canada" type of bullshit?
-
As a Canadian I know that this is complete BS. Our dollar has always been up and down and in some cases has had more value than the USD. Why is this BS? When our dollar raises I can pretty much guarantee that it will still cost 50 dollars more than US versions. On top of that our dollar doesn't lose enough value for a 50 dollar price increase.
-
Well that's really bad business to just raise the price on consumers like that, although I see where Sony is coming from. A lower valued currency means less money is paid back to them. However, I'm a firm believer that electronics should never go up in price without some sort of improvement or compensation. Yeah, the value of the Canadian dollar went down, but the Canadian people have the same ammount of money, except it's worth less. This is where financial issues start to hit the people.

The ONLY good thing about living in the USA is video game prices and exclusivity in terms of game contests/promotions and release dates.

Those commentators seem like dicks...

I can understand accommodating differing currency values, but if in the future the CAD becomes more valuable than the USD I doubt we'll see a price drop. If Sony were "losing" this console cycle they wouldn't have done this.
-
There is no legitimate reason to that.

Edited by UphillMercury: 3/17/2014 9:52:45 PMI think it's ridiculous. The value of the CAD, while about $0.90 USD, is no excuse to justify a price increase. Recall that, years ago, at the height of the recession in the US, CAD was anywhere between $1.10 and $1.20 USD, and despite this, electronics prices costed essentially the same (at sticker value). If Sony had tried that on the US market, I can only imagine the backlash.

A business trying to make a profit? Gasp
-
As you know the Canadian dollar went down in value.
-
That's far from legitimate reasoning.
-
The Canadian dollar went down in value, thus all things go up in price it is a bad cycle. Don't worry in the USA our dollar went up in value and prices remain the same. Oh government you dirty dog you.
-
Complete F*** you Canada type bullshit. Our own domestic retailers have been feeding us the same line for years, even with shit made in our own country.
-
Yay economics! Sorry for any potential Canadian buyers =\
-
The Canadian dollar went down in value. What did you expect? In other news: MS and Sony love us in the UK. I mean, who doesn't like higher prices?
-
No they love Japan they want our money
-
That's kind of shitty. The canadian dollar went down though so that's what's gonna happen.
-
Canadian dollar goes down, prices go up to accommodate. The rough exchange rate is right there in the article.
-
LolSony

Fact is, they just give us the shitty end of the stick.
