CLOSE THE DAMN DOOR

Templar. Nexus. Phogoth. Pretty much every single boss in the game share the same problem - you don't control the space the player is allowed during the encounter and, because of it, people insist on using the painfully slow,* boring, "safe" method of taking pot shots at the bosses from outside the room. Bungie. C'mon. This isn't even 101 stuff, this is Dungeon Design Chapter 1 Step 1. Close the door. Despawn the platform. Don't allow your players to hang around outside the boss battle space. The Destiny community is [i]obsessed[/i] with finding "cheese" tactics because you take [i]forever[/i] to fix then, rather than the overnight hotfixes that an experienced mmo company like Blizzard would do. They know they are free to mindlessly abuse AI mechanics and exploit to their heart's content because you're telling them "whatever we don't really care about exploits" with your inaction. * Many people don't seem to realize just how much slower it is to kill a boss doing this. I did a Phogoth nightfall the other week and told everyone to run inside; they were legitimately amazed at how quickly he died. [b]Edit: Response to a common theme reposted here for you all:[/b] To be fair, it [fighting the same bosses over and over] is a flaw inherent in traditional MMO design. Rather than other games, where you do a boss fight once, you're expected to grind the same fights over and over again. It's a simple Skinner box, and unfortunately, it works - so we get games like Destiny, which have far less content than most MMOs to begin with. However. That in of itself is a separate issue. Exploiting mob pathing is still undeniably playing a game incorrectly. That is not me holding myself to some silly "higher standard," it is simple fact. It is removing the fun what some consider an enjoyable activity for the benefit of those who would rather mindlessly grind out their coins or xp boost with slightly less effort so they... can... what, exactly? Go grind something else mindlessly? Check another fully upgraded exotic off the list so it can become worthless in the next expansion and you can start grinding again? If you're not playing the game to have fun, then [i]what are you doing?[/i] Why are those of us who [i]do[/i] the bad guys? Why are you partaking in activities in a [i]video game[/i] if you [i]do not enjoy them?[/i] that's all, insert tears below line ____________________________________

    • Good post, I hear you. Only issue I have, is if they actually take away all the cheese spots, the bosses become exponentially harder. The rewards for finishing strikes must also become better.

Ever one plays a game differently maybe people enjoy doing it like that. Qit trying to control how people play a game. If people are scared of get killed in a strike let them do the cowards way. At the end at least they had fun and that's what is all about.

    • If you die from all the adds while 2 people are hiding, then you may want to reevaluate your complaints. My favorite thing to do is run around in the main room while 2 people sit inside. I'm free to jump and hop and do whatever I want with less adds focused on me. And I position phogoth for them. Play how you want and don't try to punish others for finding safe tactics or cheese methods. This wouldn't be a huge issue if there were more bosses to grind. Which goes back to the circle jerk mmyyaaaaa more content myyaaaa Activision jerks mmyyyaaaaaaa!! But really. Lighten up! Just play how you want and find people who share your tactics. The game is great just lacking in content- so people find the fastest way they think they can do something and do that.

    • Dude, if you don't like it than don't do it. players aren't hurting anybody by using the only tactics they are able to get by. If your so against cheesing, than just don't cheese! If Bungie wants us to play fairly so bad maybe they should rewards us a little better for incentive.

        • Jumping down to kill the nexus boss only to find the two "players" you grouped with didn't jump. Guess whos only shooting trash while dip and stick shoot a minatour 20 times and the boss once every minute. And then get better loot post action lol I use those tricks when soloing, so all cards on the table.

          • You get my like; It ruins the entire experience. They do everything they can to fix [i]cheesing[/i], but this is the most common "cheese" of all. I will admit though, that last fight on the new Hive strike is near impossible without at least stepping out of the room for breathers.

          • Big problem with your argument, destiny is not an MMO. This has been stated many times and confirmed by bungie. So comparing it to an MMO like WoW is inaccurate. While I agree that these cheese spots should be dealt with but not in the way you fix an MMO

            • I find bosses easier when the whole fireteam enter and take up different positions which spreads out the enemies and keeps the boss turning away to other players instead of focusing on one point.

              • I agree with you with regards to strikes taking ages when people sit around and poke but I've noticed that the majority of random players you find in playlist tiger etc. are only there for them selves and just want the most kills or what ever. Some are even spiteful when it comes to reviving you if you couldn't get them up for what ever reason. I've rarely had a team player experience running strikes, unless the missus plays along, for example the archon priest, people spend all game climbing the cliff near the arena entrance and just sit and poke away at what they can see rather than getting stuck in

                  Exploits exists to be exploited! I Don't want to waste time on Killing a boss then risk a wipe to do it all over again. So that's why i and MANY others sit outside the boss Rooms and shoot. Plus, there's even bounties Where you're supposed to survive a Whole strike without dying... So, as i said, I wouldn't want to risk dying/ wasting My time.
