Eventually you will farm. It's inevitable. You will sit in front of a cave or in a small area or in front of some mighty doors and you will pour thousands of rounds of ammo into enemies until you get what you need to get/upgrade your legendaries/exotics. You'll do it in your big boy pajamas. You'll do it fully clothed. You'll do it in your tighty-whities. You'll do it eating food or listening to music or drinking a soda. Either way, you'll do it and you'll like it... all night long.

It's easier to do strikes and bounties.

If you farm for about 15 -20 mins at the small cave on Earth the game sends a legion of Fallen leaders, acolytes and thralls to dispatch you and your fellow farmers. Imagine a full scale ambush spawning out of no where but mainly the side building entrance to your left. It get's pretty intense!!!! LoL #WorthMyTime

Uhh... no? First off, farming an exploit is a lot different than farming for materials for upgrades. Bungie must full of retards to let this exploit exist. But it's definitely not inevitable, and you are one of the douchebags that do, so congrats.
-
I'm legit...no need to farm. There's too much to do, I gotta max my vanguard marks, I gotta max my crucible marks, I gotta do the bounties, I gotta do the Daily Story mission, I gotta do the Daily Crucible match, I gotta do the weekly heroic and attempt the weekly nightfall, I gotta collect the materials needed for upgrades... ....And much more. How do you even find the time stand in front of a cave and kill weak AI for hours? It's pointless... I have 3 exotics, 3 legendary weapons, 3 Legendary pieces of armor, and never did I ever farm these minions. Do yourself a favor, and stop collecting green engrams in front of caves.
-
Yeah so?
-
I just farmed the nexus strike 25 times. I was doing a strike yes, but it would also be considered FARMING by some...anyways the cave isnt an exploit. I wish bungie would come out and just say it's okay so all these children who don't understand rpg grinding elements can stfu.
-
I don't need to farm because I find the game fun and having getting rewarded the items to be more enjoyable. People who farm on Destiny annoy me.

Edited by Edgar Grim: 9/20/2014 5:01:26 AMI complete 25 bounties inside of a 24 hour period instead (Waaay too much time on Wednesday this week.) I came to 2 realizations. 1: I hate the buckshot bruiser medal. 2: You could do 30 bounties... (Edit 29 bounties, 24 + inventory of 5)

I 'found' the cave on Earth and farmed for an hour or so. Very nice drops. I don't know how many of you have had this experience but several times today both at the Earth and the Venus spots...a massive influx of higher level baddies dropped down and it was mayhem for like 15 minutes. To everyone's credit, we pushed them back every time but it took some skill and it actually made my day. So I guess Bungie is onto the farming and are doing things to liven things up a bit. They were coming out of the cave, and then the door to the left and then the right. Besides high level strikes it was the most fun I've had playing this game.

Theres no proof that farming is not legit .. By the mere rules of this game you must farm eiher resourses for upgrades or farming rep .. or the so much dreaded cave ... Who the whiners i think are either trollers or people who just had an engram drop and it being changed into something useless

I farm items any way I can. If that means farming the same strikes over and over for a hour, or running around the planet's doing patrol mission for hours. Heck I will even put all my ammo into the cave too. At the end of the day it's easier to find the best farming spots. Always has been with games and their loot systems
-
Wait wait wait.....people think farming is cheap!?!? Wtf lmao Farming is working towards getting loot. Its a job that in MMO history is something everyone should know and do well.
-
I have yet to farm, and I have no intention of farming. There's no reward, I have already been rewarded for my commitment, and I won't dissuade anyone else from sowing their own reward.
-
This is what I did last night. Had 4 bounties for earth and need spinmetal for upgrades s i I made my way to the cave everyone's been ranting about and it did not dissapoint. Resulted in two ranks up on cryptarch which ended up giving me an exotic rocket launcher and legendary Warlock helmet. There were about 4 of us at one point which allowed me to do things around the house while wracking up XP and Engrams. IMO drops shouldn't come from lvl3 hive when your lvl 20+ Drop rate should increase and quality of drops when going up against mobs that are higher level than you. Defeats the purpose of earning your rewards

It's funny because by attempting to complete any objective you're automatically farming. This game is designed for item farming. The entire playstyle revolves around farming in PvE and PvP.
-
I don't see the big deal with grinding, or farming as you like to call it for gear. I usually farm while picking up patrol beacons that are nearby, killing two birds with one stone.

Edited by dicdass: 9/20/2014 7:30:06 AMObviously it can be luck of the draw as to Rare item drops from cave farming (got 5 rares last time from approx 30 minutes) but if you can tie it into a Bounty (ie kill x number of enemies without suffering damage) and/or patrol mission then it works well to help with Vanguard rep and of course, with Cryptarch rep when you take the blues to him to decrypt. Also, while sticking around a Daily Event shows up as well as the all-out Hive vs.Fallen war (which helps with other Bounties like killing 10 Fallen yellows). Just saying... :)

I'm smart, because I "play" the game by standing in place and holding a button and its totally fun and how the game meant to be played, with all the non RNG ways to go up the Light wall, which exists only for a few activities in game and is inconsequential to the rest due to scaling! On the other side, some people apparently are so offended by the others who think this is an arms race, they want them banned/nerfed nao! A perfect example of an issue that exists only in peoples heads. But the rage is glorious. Keep it up guise!

I went to the cave today just to see what all the fuss was about. There were 2 other players thare who were farming. I joined in just to see if it really works. I got 1 Green loot drop out of it. Seriously?! Waste of time. Granted I didn't stay for very long. Just about 5 minutes. But it was enough to pump rounds into at least 100 Hive enemies coming out of the caves... for 1 green loot drop. Forget it. That is WAY too boring and not lucrative enough to be worth my time.
-
Edited by JDrz: 9/20/2014 1:38:10 AMNuh uhh, I'll never farm, I'll just keep running the same strikes over and over as bungie intended... Uh wait is that farming too?
-
You literally have to farm be it for gear or materials you have to farm
-
It's kinda like 2 birds one stone honestly (with the loot cave that is). People wanted a firing range... it kind of is that, and also you get stuff.
-
I didn't farm. I was never against it I just felt strikes were a better way to lvl up Last night I farmed for 40 minuets which included 2 public events.... I levels up ..... I had been 21 for roughly 15 strikes.. 40 minuets of farming and I am nearly 23 I will be joining the farming gang. Its too effective not to
