I really think Phil spencer is just what Xbox needed.
Also, I wonder how this whole you don't need live to play single player online games thing works. I wonder if you'll still get matched up in public events and whatnot. If so, what does this mean for games like borderlands 3 or the next iteration of dark souls

That does seem to be what it means since that's part of the main game. You'll be able to play with a fireteam (probably) and be a part of public events (again, probably). However, things like Strikes, Raids, and competitive multiplayer are out of the question. Anything that can happen to you alone will be allowed.

Well, I don't have all the Awnsers, I know with Destiny he specifically said that if you are playing single player you can bump into other people in the world and for the parts of the games that require public events to continue(boss battles and such) you can do that with out gold. However P vs P and Co-Op( Fire Team) can not be accessed without Gold. It would stand to reason the same would be true for other games. So borderlands would seem to make sense but Dark Souls would be out.

Haha I wasn't specifically asking you, just posing the question. But it seems both borderlands and dark souls would be out since you have to actively seek out co-op, it's not random.
