Titanfall Looking a Flop.

Less than a month later, I log back into this post to in a way, eat my words. Respawn already has my $60, and I'm quite a few hours in, so already it's better than I first thought. A huge thing TF has going for it is that there really is nothing else out right now. That being said, my second run at this game has shown me TF is like a beautiful, high class lady of the night. Here's why. 1.) Great to look at 2.) A machine in the sack 3.) Doesn't inquire about your past 4.) Easily accessible 5.) Fun to play with 6.) Brings in the money 7.) One trick pony I logged on last night and made it to character level 2 before I lost interest. The maps are devoid of color and all look the same washed-out hue. The addition of AI bots keeps you from knowing if a character is a real threat or a mindless drone that's almost always a one shot kill. Movement speeds are imbalanced. I repeatedly got stuck on invisible ledges. Even if they polish this game up and iron out the kinks, it seems incredibly one-dimensional and I predict will be a gigantic flop. Feel free to call me a moron or genius.

 • I think titanfall looks pretty cool so far. My one complaint though is that I think the pilots need more health. One shotting players (or grunts) isn't as satisfying in my opinion as having a drawn out fight where tactical decisions can be the deciding factor. I think even in call of duty there is longer time to kill on average than in this game. It's the complete opposite when fighting titan v titan. You move slowly, have a lot of health, and have several tricks you can use to turn the tide. You have to duck behind buildings, play ping pong with the vortex shield, all while making your primary and secondary shots count. And on top of all that, you can even get boosts to damage for a short time. If fighting pilot on pilot had as many decisions to make as fighting with titans does, this game would BURY every other shooter available. Sure, you can play cat and mouse with the wall running, and maybe throw a stun grenade every so often, but the maps are so big and have so many routes through them that I haven't seen any resemblance of tactical control of a map in my time playing. If they had a game mode with smaller maps and more pilots(not grunts), I'd really enjoy it. I saw they had a titan-only mode, but no pilot-only mode. This is somewhat surprising because pilots have a lot of potential for interesting encounters if the titans aren't there. It would be more like call of duty, but the added acrobatics would make it a completely different game already, not even counting the special abilities like cloaking and stuff. Also, I'm pretty bummed that there isn't a single player, because the tutorial levels set it up for one so well that it felt like something was missing being multiplayer only. And grunts. Get rid of them, make them smarter, or use them in more moderation, because what they are now contributes little to the game. If anything, make at least a third of the active entities on the battlefield real players, because grunt hunting gets old and adds that casual feel that's making everyone complain about the game. TL;DR: Titanfall seems like a good game, but there is much room for even more improvement.
