chemistry question

Can somebody tell me what class of compound Aspirin is?
Should I just say "it's classified as an acid, even though it is made up of those groups" ?

2 RepliesEdited by Eucalyptus: 6/18/2013 5:27:51 AM-COOH takes priority - systematic number is something - benzoic acid. So I guess you could call it a benzoic acid, or a salicylate - it's derived from the naturally occurring salicylic acid.
