I give 5 years until only the military is left to be privatized
Given that the government has been setting this up for a while now, its becoming more and more evident that our public programs will be privatized. Conservatives have been floating the idea of privatizing Social Security for a while now, and have worked tirelessly to defund the Postal Service into oblivion. NASA is nearly dead, and many non-combat jobs have been eliminated from the military.
There aren't many things left. What are your thoughts and feelings on this? Should these programs be taken from the government and given to the private sector?

When I think of privatizing the military, I imagine Obama handing over the keys for our aircraft carriers (cause they work by turning a key ya know) to Donald Trump. Is this normal?

The military will never be private and should never be private because it is one of the only true purposes of the federal government according to the old dudes with white wigs.

I don't think that de-funding the postal service is meant to be arbitrary or anything, its just that it is being used less and less now and it doesn't make sense that people should be taxed for something so little use. privatizing the postal service I don't think would have many downsides. I imagine we would just separate it out among the shipping companies like ups and fed ex. I don't see a problem with it.

3 RepliesI don't think privatized combat groups is a good idea, after that whole thing with Blackwater. The idea in theory brings up many complications anyway. A government regulated military could elimite a lot of misconduct in combat and make it a lot easier to abide by and enforce the Geneva Convention.

4 RepliesThis is news to me that Conservatives are trying to destroy the Postal Service. I would like to see the source for that. But anyway, I think that the Postal Service should remain something that is subsidized, but I also think that it should be able to make money just like every other business out there. The Postal Service lost 11.6 billion dollars in the first 3 quarters of 2012. That's just unacceptable. I don't know where all of the waste is going, but it needs to be fixed.

3 RepliesNASA isn't even close to being dead. They have about 5 major private companies funding them. And there are still ton's of non-combat jobs in the military.

It probably is going to happen, but I really don't support it. The idea of private individuals running around with their own small armies with tanks and bombs seems very frightening to me. It's practically feudalism.

Theres no regulation, they can teach what they want, and they dont care about their students. Also their teaching material sucks. On top of that, its extremely expensive so thr students are forced to take out loans. By the time they graduate they are in debt. Then they find that no one is willing to hire them because their employers dont recognize it as a real school. Thankfuly I left after the first quarter.

Both parties are guilty of defunding the USPS. FYI the two Republican sponsors are no longer representatives, but the two Democrats still are.
