PS4 Watch_Dogs is priced at $99
Might be a place holder for now, but how would you feel if all next-gen console games were priced $89.99-$99.99?

Likely a placeholder. Though I would argue that the price of games should move up to $70 simply do combat inflation and the rising costs of game development, I don't think they will. Instead, I think more games will try to find creative ways of adding additional content for an additional cost. Before you scream "Ah, no, I hate that bullshit", I think there are ways of doing it tastefully that a lot of developers simply are ignoring. Dead Space 3's addition of a "pay-to-win" was a poor implementation of this design while Gears of War 3's or even WoW's mount/customization model is fine and rather unobtrusive and more acceptable. Still, I think the best way a developer could add this element of being able to pay for additional content would be to make it a lesser variant of the items unlocked by playing the game for real. For example, perhaps if there is some cool gun camo, make it so one could pay for it immediately, or unlock it in-game but if unlocked in-game give it some extra flavor. Another method would be to perhaps develop a system whereby a month after release, allow for players to pay their way to a particular level (say 25) and give them all the items along the way (specifically in a game like Battlefield where higher levels have an advantage), but make them still have to move through levels 1-25 by earning that experience but perhaps at an accelerated rate. Having bought BF3 months after launch, I would have appreciated something like that as opposed to the buy the entire kit system.

MoHW was 70 at launch and I never bothered with it just because of that. This better not be true. Not to mention the rumor going around with used games not being able to be bought. Your only choice is going to be buying a 100 dollar game?

I wouldn't buy it, most games nowadays aren't worth 60$, It seems like everyone wants to throw in a 10 hour campagin and then some garbage multiplayer.

I would never play them. I barely play full price for games as it is. I always buy a used game over a brand new game, unless it's something I want to play at release dat anyway.

if this crap is true... I believe that MANY gamers will back out of being Gamers!!!! Not all of us can afford many of the things these days! Especialy with the economy on it's all time low!! One thing is buying a Console that can keep on working for a few years than to every time you go to buy a game you need to shave from your wallet $100 stinking bucks!! Developers need to find a new way to get the games to the gamers without wreking their whole budget!! Sheesh!

That's what Australians pay for new 360/PS3 titles. I see the logic in a price rise - the more graphical fidelity a system offers the more man-power is required to produce calibre content, and men don't work for free.

I hate spending that kind of money on a video game. It would definitely turn me off. Especially if the rumors about not being able to play used games on the new xbox console.

4 RepliesI remember when PS1 games were new, around $30 i believe, and I felt that was high. I don't buy many games now because of the $60 tag and usually wait for them to drop in price to around $20-$30. I would not be a happy consumer, if next-gen games were $90-$100.
