Wrath of the Machine is the Example of What A Raid Should Be
I didn't think it could be done. I really didn't. But in my mind, Wrath of the Machine has surpassed the Vault of Glass to become the best raid (at least when comparing normal modes).
Both Vault and Wrath:
• Don't place all the pressure on one person like Crota's End
• Don't place the pressure on everyone to perform at all times like King's Fall
• Require large amounts of movement unlike King's Fall
• Have interesting fights
• Have good loot drops
• Making a mistake doesn't doom the team
• Turning the raid inside out looking for secrets
What Wrath does that Vault doesn't:
• Requires a good amount of communication
• Less able to be cheesed
• Less glitchy
• Better secrets
• All subclasses are viable for strategies for at least one part
• More exotics viable in the raid
• All major sections give loot
• Amazing soundtrack
• Raid exotic isn't a random drop
• Raid armor really helps complete raid
• Better loot system
[b]Note:[/b] Wrath's shortness both helps and hurts it. By being so short, it opens it up to a bigger population and helps make being sherpa easier (thank god), but some also feel that that takes away from the experience.
What Vault does that Wrath doesn't:
• Able to help a raid team in patrol
• Created a sense of discovery every time I run through it (at least for me)
• More interesting Relic
• Fatebringer
• Nostalgia
It might still be the honeymoon phase, but I think that Wrath of the Machine is an A+ example of a raid. Bungie figured out how to capture the feel of the Vault again, and that makes me incredibly hopeful for future raids.

It's so hard to compare new raids to Vault of Glass because of the expectation set by Vault of Glass, and it being the first raid it just feels so... nostalgic. I disagree with the statement saying that Wrath of the Machine had better secrets. Yes, the Outbreak Prime quest was the best Quest in Destiny by far. This goes back to the ARG, the Monitors, the Binary Conversions, etc. I feel as though Vault of Glass had the better secrets in regards to mystery and design. Such as the locations of the chests, as well as the mythical 'Fifth Chest'. The discovery of some of those chests still astound me, mainly in regards to the Templar No Teleport Chest, which I found that not many people even remember. I don't think the length of Wrath should affect how it's judged. It still has around the same number of phases as the other raids, just less mechanic heavy which gave you the sense of progression. Higher Level = Faster Completion. Vault of Glass: (Opening, Confluxes, Oracles, Templar, Gorgons, Gatekeeper, Atheon) [b][7][/b] Crota's End: (Abyss, Bridge, Deathsinger, Crota) [b][4][/b] King's Fall: (Opening, Totems, Warpriest, Golgoroth, Daughters, Oryx) [b][6][/b] Wrath of the Machine: (Opening, Vosik, Zamboni, Siva Source, Aksis) [b][5][/b] The average about of mechanics is 5-6, which Wrath of the Machine [b]and[/b] King's Fall falls under. You [i]could[/i] pull the argument that Vault of Glass was [i]too[/i] long, but I doubt anyone would mention that. Design wise, Wrath wins. The graphics are incredible. There's no better feeling than exiting the Server Farm and heading into the bridge with the red light leading into the Disco Room. Seeing that on Day 1 of the Raid was one of the most memorable experiences I've had in a raid. Only thing that somewhat beats that is when you first see Crota spawn in the Oversoul Throne. The shards forming the arch behind, and then he forms is one of the best spawns in Destiny, if not the best. Either way, it's a great raid. I'm excited to see what Hard Mode (and Challenge?) mode brings to the table.

1 ReplyIt's a solid raid and most importantly it's fun, well to me at least. The drops are solid and you feel like you are being rewarded. Sick of kings fall now and crap guns bar a couple.

I feel they all hold a special place i cant belive that even Crotas End for some reason as time went on how much i appreciate that raid now more then when we used to play it each week and its also the one raid we can solo which i know should not be the case but it is alot of fun And i feel kings fall will also be a great raid to go back and play now and then :)

Wrath of the machine demands teamwork/communication more than any raid for that reason I think it's best

4 RepliesWOTM is fantastic, but it feels too short. It shouldnt be able to be completed in 20:44. I'd say another boss or two and it'd be up there with Vault.

i haven't done WotM yet. still struggling to get to max light. just about there. hope it is as good as Vault. but i will throw this out there. while i say Vault is the best built raid overall....... Crota was the most "fun" raid for me. running through the abyss as a team, seeing who would make it all the way, made for many memorable moments. it just didn't give you the "nervous" feeling while playing it. if you messed up, that is ok. unlike Kings fall where if you mess up once, it's a wipe and everyone complains. i hated every single part of Kings fall.

Best raid: Wrath of the Machine Most fun raid: Crota's End Seriously, every time I've ran that raid my group had fun because they didn't have to try that much, so deaths were jokes and stupid moments were funny.

WotM for me was meh. It just so simple and easy I don't even feel like running it 3 times a week. I always felt like every week I was getting better and finding more fun ways to run the old raids. I also don't agree with some of your points especially "requires more movement" when all we did was stand around throwing bombs.

WotM is my favorite. Lets see how heroic mode goes.

I've only completed it once, I was a 365 and we didn't wipe While I appreciate all the loot you can get, I think I'm just done with pve in this game. I like VoG and even Crotas End better than WoM, KF was the worst raid by far
