Why is it so prevalent in PvP? Both are easy to exploit and to use in my opinion. But there's literally no variety in PvP. Non-existing snipers and scout rifle users what-so-ever. It seems like other weapons are obsolete now. What do you guys think? Be honest. Should they get a nerf? If not, why?
EDIT: Please do not throw a tantrum when you think of the word "nerf". Just because we had a bad nerfing experience doesn't mean all nerfs are bad.
EDIT2: Thanks for the comments guys, yeah I think we need more maps that are more open to sniping. However considering there's only two maps that are open to sniping, you'll see yourself using a fusion/shotgun often. Is that a strategy that is a must? If so, that questions back into the variety the crucible has overall.

Please just play the game. You people are wearing me out with wanting to control it. Play. Have fun and adapt and overcome. Thanks

I only play crucible when I'm all out of bounties and really want to level up a new gun, or when iron banner is around, so I often resort to my FR because I know its easy. If I actually liked the crucible I'm sure I'd eventually get good enough with my AR or HC to actually use them effectively..... but -blam!- that.

Eh, I run HC Sniper on a Bladedancer. Im better than most so most shotgun users dont even have time to think before Ive meleed them to death in small corridors, and the HC can cover anything mid range along with my sticky grenade. I barely use the sniper, so I see your point, but special weapons in general just seem to be very easy to deal with. Shotgun does seem like the easy option out and the Slide Shotgun combo is something brutal, but its not a gamebreaker. On the subject of variety, lets be serious here. Destiny has tried to combine FPS with MMORPG elements, and while theyve done it incredibly well, PVP will never be anything more than FPS. So variety of weapons will hardly change anyones play style or how the crucible actually feels.

It's the maps. They don't favor long range and mid range gun play as much as close range. There's only 2 maps you can effectively snipe on. The guns aren't the problem.
-
Honestly it depends on what shotgun and what fusion rifle. I'm quite good with The Comedian and Found Verdict (dat der range) but shorter range shotguns are awful. I think in general, guns with smaller clip sizes should do more damage than their higher clip'd counterparts. Ex: Why does The Chance, a 6 round hand cannon, do the same damage as the 11 round High Fixer.

I snipe on any map, and put shotgun/fusion rifle users in my back pocket all day.
-
I don't you understand "exploit". I could understand your feelings if there was a sort of bug that allowed for nonexistent charge times or weapon swap stat switch. But you getting killed by stuff more than you like is hardly an "exploit".

Edited by HellTigSilver: 11/7/2014 6:37:19 PMForgot option 4 because the maps are not big enough for effective sniping. with exception of 3 arenas two which hardly come up any more there are not enough space to get consistent snipe shots without being run up on in seconds and at close range the liklyhood of you beating a shotgun is limited.
-
Your just playing a bad strategy man. The thing with destiny is that there are so many ways to die quickly/instantly. You have to stop doing the thing which is putting you in the situation to begin with. Keep them ranged and things will change.
-
map layouts. You won't see fusion rifles and shotguns dominating on open maps like. First light and Bastion
-
Nah they don't need nerfs, you just have to play to the situation, if you are going around tight corners pull out fusion rifle/shotgun, if wide open area use a scout or whatever your preference. I'm not the greatest in pvp but you have to use some type of tactic and logic, of course fusion rifles and shotguns should out gun you in close quarters cause they don't have a chance in mid to long gun battle :/

Easy kills. Fusion rifle harder to use though

No only fusion needs to be nerfed a little by charge time

Just unlocked the full auto aspect of Pocket Infinity last night and OMG that thing is beast. I can't even imagine how easy it would have been before it was nerfed.
