Why is it so easy to dismantle exotic engrams?

Edit 2: I can't believe I even have to put this, but read the post before making your comment. Most of you so far, evidently, have not. I had just got up half an hour ago, and my roommate reminded me that Xur is in the tower. I hopped on quick as I could, despite the fact that I was still pretty much asleep. I bought an exotic engram (in addition to my symbiote helm) and was gonna go identify the engram. In my comatose state I deleted the engram instead of giving it to the cryptarch. Now, there's very little to stop you from doing this. The game won't ask you to confirm, it won't give you back an engram (I can see not giving back an exotic weapon, but an engram? Really?), and as I recently figured it out, it takes the exact same amount of time to get rid of an exotic engram as it does a green one. Even the distinction for dismantling isn't there. Bungie's only response is "you done f*cked up, mate. Have fun." Like, what is that? People are GOING to make mistakes, and I know for a fact that plenty of games can work with you to get back rare items or at the very least give you steps to prevent deletion next time. Bungie, however, practically laughs in your face. Know why? Because then you have to continue playing their game to get your stupid item back. This is not the way to run a game, tend to your damn community. I have to get another 23 motes of light and wait a week (or two) all because I wasn't fully awake when I bought my god forsaken engram. Edit: For those who say "You're just a f*cking idiot" Yes, I am. Of course I am. That was never in question, I assure you. The only point to this post is to make a failsafe or confirmation for deleting Exotic gear / engrams.

  • Agree with the original post. Fail-safes should be in the game for this kind of thing. For the people that are blaming him...he's already blaming himself, so I don't get why you're piling on. He's just asking for a simple fix that's already implemented for exotic gear (meaning Bungie at least half recognized the risks upon release of the game) be added for engrams. A totally reasonable and hopefully easily implemented request that we will see in the near future. I, for one, am always terrified I'll make this very mistake when dealing with engrams. A fail-safe would be nice.
