From a PvPer, thank you for the nerf. Here's why.

Thank you very much for the Vex Mythoclast nerf. It needed it. Over the course of the past week more and more people have been using the weapon. Today in Iron Banner, if a well organized team(pre-mades I am assuming) had atleast two Vex Mythos, it was over and the game was easily theres. I led the leaderboards in almost all of my games. Yes I was yelling why is my team sucking so much. But when people who knew what they were doing utilized that weapon, it was pointless. They would lock down the map and have one vex each covering two different lanes of approach, on some maps that's all there is. It was over. The gun is just that good that it beats every 1vs1 matchup. When your team has the lead and you have two points, you assume the defensive positions and there is no pushing them out from their position at that point. Once you see the Vex Mythos wielder, he's already shooting at you because he was waiting for someone to pop their head where you are. He shoots, you're dead. That fast if he is competent. Even if you bring a friend, they have to kill him with an inferior weapon faster than he can aim the Vex Mythos at them. There are no other guns that are undoubtable op. Atheons assault rifle, Plan C, Pocket Infinity. All really good guns that just wreck. If I am really needing to get bounties done I just put on Plan C and decimate people with ease. Its fun to use other weapons too but Fusion Rifles are the best in Crucible right now. Shotguns are great in Rumble. With all of the great guns, none come close to touching what Vex Mythos is. The problem, is that Player Versus Player is supposed to be COMPETITIVE! All of the people crying need to realize that. If having one gun is the only way to compete in Crucible, people will stop playing it unless they have that gun. It is quickly coming to this. The gun is not that rare, and is very common in PvP now. If this were Halo and the Vex Mythos was a weapon on the field to grab up, EVERY player would literally rush there first and the start of the mathc would be a battle for the Vex Mythos. There is no balance in terms of Crucible if this gun is involved. So the point: THE VEX MYTHOCLAST IS UNBALANCED FOR CRUCIBLE. The only people who want to keep it how it is are the people that have it. A large group of people that have it realize it is op and are accepting and/or encouraging of the nerf. Anyone that doesn't have it will stop playing Crucible until they have it or other comperable op guns are introduced. A good analogy can be drawn from Magic The Gathering. There is one card that can basically be used and make any deck exponentially better than how it was before. Black Lotus. The card is universally banned basically. Magic is also a good analogy for balancing. Sometimes something that was intended to be good or great, turns out to be unstoppable and require tweaking. In closing, wait to see if this tweak of theirs really does turn your Vex Mythoclast into a paperweight. It might still be effective, just not god's gun granted to you through his messanger Atheon.   • But auto rifles didn't need a de-buff to DPS at close range. Decreasing their range, and increasing the damage dropoff at the maximum range would have solved the SR vs AR range issue, without making the AR less effective where an AR should be most effective.

      • Isnt the point of an exotic gun thats hard to get supposed to be op? And also they should keep their nerfs for pvp only not for both thats just stuped, auto rifles they didnt shorten the range all they did was give them more recoil, shotguns can still kill from 10 feet away, and how come a common gun is stronger than a maxed out exotic? They have to fix alot of things and not nerf guns that are hard to get and stop selling or make the guns that they are nerfing more expensive cause every body is just using the guns xur sells and thats what they are nerfing

      • The vex didn't need to be nerf'd for PVE. For PVP it obviously did, but now there is no point in using it in PVE.

      • If they can increase weapon damage vs aliens as stated in the last patch for scouts then wtf cant they decrease it vs gaurdians? Therefore balancing it for pvp and not ruining it for pve Its like the auto nerf hasnt done much asides close the gap a bit range wise I still shred most with blue rifles in pvp although now on bigger maps my vision of confluence from the raid can take the stage (27 round clip and full auto mode it is a pain in the ass to anyone trying to snipe or I see down range) Also shotgub range nerfed my ass ive been one shotted thru force barrier on my titan last 2 days over and over across a room with shotties and yet mine barelt does shit at point blank range somehow (seriously are people glitching blue shottys somehow?) And stop screaming suros from the damn rooftops ive been wasted far more by hardlights then suros My gallahad or shingen hell even my queens ar I always outperform suros on a 1 v1 shoot out unless they have the half clip started then its a toss up if Ive started firing first and I barely survive or barely die Suros is great pve but its upgrade that gimls rate of fire makes it situational at best in pvp vs tons of other autos of all raritys (ive seen guys lvl 30 trolling and racking up w the first gun u get from intro mission the crappy m4 knockoff) skill and familiarity with a wep matter alot Nerfs of these levels arent needed bungie needs to think these things through better since they have the tools to properly pvp balance weps

      • The issue isn't that the vex needed to be nerfed the issue is that the 34% nerfed currently is wrong it's actually in the 4o%-45% range.         • May be Bungie should ban that guy that killed me last night jumping and doing a 180 with a rocket launcher and blasted me through a tiny little window from across the map? Were people really getting disproportionately pwned that a 34% nerf was necessary, or was the crying so loud and this was just like a bent iphone- a good story but the 9 people it happened too should make the company's stock drop 4%. "I'd like to return my bent Mythoclast..." I got a Mythoclast the night of the ban, which now sits unused and not upgraded because out-of-the-gate my other weapons are just all better. It's so light and there is not enough ammo to make it worth using in PVE, and in PVP, it's just meh. As for the PVP vs PVERs, do both and stop bi%ching; having both makes the world go round.

        • honestly I didnt feel like the mythoclast was that bad. I don't have it, I just have a grim citizen III legendary assault rifle. Yeah I felt like they had an advantage but I never felt like I couldnt compete with people using it, I just had to play smarter and shoot better when facing off against it.

          • I agree with this post. The writer specifically mentioned his agreement with the nerf only for pvp. Stop complaining to the writer of the post about something he wasn't even mentioning (mythoclast in pve). A lot of good ideas have been stated for separating the two areas of play. I can understand the frustration of a hard raid reward that doesn't outshine anything as well; that, however, does not mean that it should break pvp balance. There should be some kind of separation, or maybe even an added perk to the weapon that increases dmg versus aliens similar to what some of the Atheon weapons do for oracles. Regardless, some will complain, some will whine, but in pvp, only skill, reaction, and good aim should ever rule the charts, not past achievements (completing a raid for an op weapon).

            • VM should have never been nerfed doesnt matter how much damage it did or how many people it killed easily its the hardest gun in the game to get If they nerf all guns in the game to be even hold on let me go grab the marshal auto rifle real quick Pve guns should never be nerfed pvp I understand some nerfs but not 35% making a gun that you can only get by completing what they call there hardest boss in the game and the process of getting there let alone it should be a little op not equal I dont care if kids exploit there chances of getting it the rng still has to give it to them Bungie cant control everything we do in the game with mechanics I have beat the raid on hard multiple times without cheating the templar or aethon still havent gotten the VM I have died to it before and after the nerf and still believe it should be op its not right to punish the few that have gotten it to the kids that cant handle the fact they barely have put in less than 100 hrs into this game and dont have any good weapons or armor except from xur and get out performed by someone who has put in the work to get that gun Its not fair to the people who put the time in to earn that gun and only fair to the people that only care about crucible or barely play Focus on what needs to be added more then what needs to be fixed players have already figured out how to cheese the templar oracles and boss fight without the ledges and the patch just came out! You've only stayed in the same place since the patch move forward!

              • The way I see it, there would have been no need for a nerf [i]if[/i] Bungie had done their work properly. In crucible all weapon damage is supposed to be equalized, so that the gear doesn't matter. Obviously this didn't work for the Vex. But in PvE and Iron Banner? Bigger is better, that's the rules.

                    The Nerf was need to crucible not to pve...in pve was a valid weapon ...not anymore!! You nerfing guys suck very hard hope you enjoy crucible because I don't play it...I don't have the vex I don't really like it but I Dont cry all day about it ...yes I was kill many time with a vex...but also was killed a lots with other stuff like shotguns...Or bladedancer or ....something else...there was an op side on vex but doing the raid with your fellows guardians with it in your team is a nice rewarding experience that make you fell like your reward for beating raid hardmode was a great reward and mission!!

                  • I didn't very much read the post.. And don't very much care.. I just came here to prove a point. Theres too many biased players calling people "Cry babies" for making some, at times, extremely valid points. In reality they're the ones relying on the flaws & unbalanced aspects of the game, in order to be "good".. and most of the time, too fuel their pitiful pride.

                  • You all babys dont know how these weapons are and dont have them so u want to destroy the weapon for all their owners? When u will be killed by a green or blue shotgun then they are OP too? The job of an exotic weapon is that they are OP because u have hard work to get them A hard raid isnt very easy we need 7 hours to get to atheon and kill him then you want to have nice loots but there are the babys who are crying that it is unfair to be killed by another stronger guys who had invest time in a hard raid I can also say that bladedancers, rocket launchers or something like that are unfair please nerf them buhu There are green launchers which have the chance to regain ammo after a kill and gives one shots but did i cry No i played my normal game You only have to see a gamer with an OP gun like a blade dancer so just kill him in a team or with titan bubble when u cant kill them then your just a player who thinks hes super but dont destroy these weapons

                      • Very few people disagreed that it needed toned down for crucible. 34% decrease in damage would have made it change from a 4-5 shit kill to a 5-7 shot kill. Which would have been fine (5 headshots in a row is fine with that recoil and poor range) However the 34% base damage decrease means that actual damage dealt has been reduced by anywhere between 41% (head shots with new multiplier in crucible) and 49% (body shots in crucible AND against gatekeeper in vault of glass). An almost 50% damage reduction is very steep and in crucible it now takes a 6-10 shot kill at short range. It quite simply gets outperformed by every other weapon type with this amount of decrease. The time to to kill is higher than that of SUROS, Shadow Price and even Thorn. If they gave it a range drop of (it's already abysmal at anything past mid range anyway) and made it 5-7 shot as we expected it to be its have been fine. The range it operates well at it has to compete with shotguns, fusion rifles and auto rifles. All of which beat it by a noticeable amount in time to kill. In PVE the up to 50% damage reduction is so bad that it's barely worth using in things like hard mode raid. A reward from beating normal mode raid (Vision of Confluence) has a higher damage output and more ammo (plus the oracle buster perk) compared to a reward for beating the same raid but on hard mode! Yes you can cheese it etc. and that should be addressed as the problem. Not the rewards itself. The way I see it there's a few options that need to be considered: 1.Change the mythoclast so that 34% reduction is on damage dealt instead of base damage. Meaning 5-7 hit kills in crucible to allow it to compete with things in its range band 2. Add a stat to it "deals extra damage to minions of the darkness" equivalent to counter the 34% reduction. 3. Disallow exotics completely in crucible outside of iron banner events.
