Nice Goliath Tank Bungie
Yeah so I thought I'd try the weekly strike. As usual had to solo it because I wasn't matched with anyone.
Turns out you can bring the health down pretty fast by shooting the legs.
The problem is that when you get it down to about 25% health, it'll just auto aim for you head.
So there's about half an hour I won't get back. Cheers.

It took three infuriating goes at this with nearly half a dozen synthesis packs for me to find this thread and realise I had to shoot all four engines. I kept getting the tank down to a sliver of health and then firing away for twenty more minutes wondering why it wasn't dead yet. I'd been shooting at the one engine the whole time. /facepalm

I know this is just semantics but they are definitely engine/rocket boosters not legs. Why would something that hovers need legs?

Lol snipe it from far away with arc damage. U have to take out all it's legs. I did the nightfall 2-man last 2 weeks in a row. I'm pretty sure you should be capable of 3 manning if you are careful

Shoot at it with the interceptors in the same area. If you side strafe it will never hit you.

6 RepliesGave me a good laugh. Very funny post. But yeah, the Goliath is one of the easier mid-bosses. Just shoot all 4 legs off and you've won. No need to bother with any other enemies either. If you want you can even grab an Interceptor and shoot at it, as long as you move away fast enough. And don't blame Bungie for your lack of friends. That's just pathetic

3 RepliesFor Vanguard level 3 I got a legendary scout rifle that has a ridiculously long range and high zoom Scope it's basically a sniper rifle with 300 rounds. You can stand way way back and kill it with ease. Currently this is the only thing I use a scout rifle for other than just for fun.

[/quote] That's been fairly well known for a while now, welcome to week 3. If you're going to solo it, try shooting off the turret that shoots the blue beams on the top left side (looking at it) of it's head. Once you knock that off all he has is his close range front machine gun and his big red laser attack, making the encounter so easy you could probably take on 2 or three at the same time.

6 RepliesOne of my main issues is the lack of ammo. I'm making every shot but I just don't have any ammo to use. I need more enemies around to kill to get the ammo drops.

You weren't matched with anyone because Weekly Strikes have no matchmaking. And the Goliath is pathetic. Grab a good Sniper Rifle and an ammo synthesis or two and go to town on his thrusters. Jump sideways to avoid the mortars.

The goliath tank is the easiest part of that mission. just keep one of those rocket launcher vehicles in working condition and circle strafe him. boost out of the way if you hit a rock/ crate/ etc. and don't get too close to him. his main cannon turns too slow to keep up with you. try it out next time :)

I soloed it. (since I needed to do it for an exotic bounty and no friends were on) One thing that seems to work for the tank is the interceptor. Weaken it with an interceptor, and after your interceptor is nearly done for, go back and get another one and repeat the process lol

The tank is one of the easiest parts of the nightfall (or weekly).

Step 1: Jump on the giant rock pillar in the middle between the Master Chief building and the Goliath Tank. Step 2: Use a sniper rifle to shoot the tank's thrusters (the legs) Step 3: Glide/Double or Triple Jump/Lift when he's about to fire his cannon Step 4: Repeat Steps 2 and 3 (and occasionally 1) as necessary. Maybe if he kills you, it means you are too close I just kill him from the top of the outpost where you have to kill the 3 guards. With arc burn he takes 30k damage from my sniper rounds and you have so much time to see his huge fireball forming and coming for you, if you can't jump to dodge it, that's too bad

I'm a 27 and I did it with me and a 22 yesterday it was a pretty sick battle.
