I don't think we've been given a full game at launch.

The reason I say this, is because a while ago when they were showing trailers, there were cutscenes in those trailers that are not in the game anywhere. Specifically the cutscene where you meetup with that awoken hunter (looks like it's on earth) and he's pointing a hand cannon at you, saying "out here in the wilds this is how we say hello". This either means this whole segment was cut entirely or there is more story/cutscenes to come in DLC... which I really hope isn't the case honestly, because that means they literally cut off potentially vital story elements for DLC, thus leading to an incomplete product at release.

  • Would you rather a part but fully functional game at launch with content released every day or battlefield 4?

Anybody remember the game WoW was post launch? I do there wasn't much. Mmos grow over time. Sure some expansions added stuff but a lot of free content has been released over the years.

  • No MMO in history has given you all its content on day one. This is a standard practice and has been for many years. More content will come in future updates.

      • I do agree that the game feels incomplete, but unfortunately your reason for feeling that way doesn't match mine lol the cut scene may very well have been removed from the final game, or just as likely, may be in a future DLC release. I, however, feel as though the game leaves a bit to be desired. After playing a fair bit, the leveling system has finally started to make sense to me. While not perfect, I do admire bungies level of ambition with this new leveling system. It seems to work well, but unfortunately, they loot drop does NOT work well. At least not when your overall level depends on epic loot drops constantly. Since loot drops are random, you get sporadic leveling and such. No bueno. Another thing is the galaxy's lack of activities. When you're on the moon or Venus or earth, if you are not immediately involved in a story mission or strike, you have 2 choices. You can either obtain a patrol mission (I understand they are quite varied, however the act of patrol missions themselves become quite repetitive very quickly) and wander around killing enemies repeatedly. The chests are hardly worth mentioning since they are both incredibly random when spawning, and contain nothing of real value unless they are golden, but each map contains a limited amount of golden chests. The inclusion of social areas outside of the tower would be phenomenal. Safe areas on each of the planets would add depth to the Galaxy, and the areas wouldn't even have to be linked to the patrol area of that planet, per se. They could be loaded separately, as is the tower. Another idea would be, as the story line progresses, to alter the locations within a patrol area. For example, one of the patrol missions on the moon is to scout an abandoned mine or research camp or something of the sort to see whether it is worth reclaiming. It would be so cool to see it come alive with the sounds of shops and people inside of its own little eco-bubble (and yes, that's the technical term lol) because you know you played a part in that. Other activities could include sparrow racing, space battles (would give players an actual reason to buy new spaceships aside from aesthetics) and character assigned missions. Instead of receiving bounties or missions from across the stars via a radio transmission, talking face to face and receiving missions from someone in distress would make everything feel much more tied together. Now with all of that said, I love the game. I do not wish to convey anything else. It is a fantastic game, and what it does now, it does very well for the most part (raid matchmaking *cough*) but it's what it doesn't do at all the takes an otherwise fantastic experience and puts it a little bit or a Lotta bit lower on people's top list of games than it rightfully deserves. Hopefully, bungie keeps updating and adding bits and pieces, and by the time they've finished polishing the experience, it can be considered it's own, full fledged fps mmo, and be looked at as the shining monument to gaming that it could be, vs the polished pebble that it currently is.

          • I don't understand why people feel entitled to soo much? When you go to the movies you spend about 20 dollars for 2 hours of entertainment . The story alone is roughly about 18 hours I'd say that covers your 60 dollars. And if you don't think it does sell it!! You can easily get 40 dollars back which puts your original cost at 20 dollars for 18-20 hours that is a steal.

Yeah, I feel like I paid £50 for a prologue. And I'm going to have to pay £35 for levels 1 & 2. (a part of me wants to blame Activision for that, though. Not Bungie)

Battlefield = buy premium and we give you the full game in the form of 5 DLC's over 12 months. Just about every game is the same now. Sorry to be the one to break it to you. ...

                    • Alright, let's put this into perspective for everyone. This isn't exactly an mmo, but it operates similar to one, having shared servers and the like. There are weekly/monthly updates for us to keep us occupied over time instead of all at once. Let's face it: this game was f*cking expensive to make and keep running, being always online and all, and giving us all that they have planned at once would probably cost upwards of $500 and require multiple disks (given that all that they have planned hadn't even been fleshed out yet) Most games like this, such as Runescape, WoW, and (insert variety of applicable mmorpgs here) pay for these expansions and the servers, as well as profits, in one or a combination of 3 ways: 1. Payed subscriptions. 2. Micro transactions(and/or pay to win). 3. Moderate to heavy advertising(varies). Now that you know the 3 basic business models for mmorpgs, let's think for a minute: none of these can be used very successfully on a game like destiny, a console game. Normally, mmo's are a pc thing, and even a game similar to one is pretty uncommon, if not unheard of, for consoles. Not only that, but they had to develop for 4 different consoles, instead of just pc's. Anyway, back to the point: subscriptions are heavily looked down upon for console games (just remember the backlash in trying to get subscription fees for the elder scrolls online). Micro transactions are usually used as a last ditch effort to gain funds(in Runescape's case) and are usually looked down upon by gamers (especially pay to win models). Lastly, advertisements in a console game would clearly suffer extreme backlash/protests, and would obviously fail on a console. Being console gamers, we expect to buy a new game for $60 (U.S.) any deviation from this price for playstation and xbox is also unheard of/extremely rare. So what are they to do? Well, the dlc market nowadays is huge in games like call of duty, so why not adopt a strategy similar to subscriptions, but in the form of a more acceptable version(dlc packs)? This allows more freedom for players, and also supplies destiny/Activision with the needed funds and profits. Likewise, it also supports their plans for the game to keep expanding. Destiny is not only a new type of console game, with a new/modified business plan to boot- a different and more acceptable form of subscription based playing for consoles. You pay the upfront cost for a disk every 2 or 3 years (4 games planned via contract with Activision atm), the game continues to expand throughout the years in disk and dlc form, and you, the happy customer, get to play destiny in all of its glory.

                      • Overall I think they need to sped up the timeline for the expansion passes to get more content into the game. They know the plan and seems like its partially in there already but decided to hold off on it to stretch the life of the game? Titanfall was fun for about a month and then I expect now the same for this which I wasn't expecting at first given the scope of the game... Longevity doesn't seem to be there yet. Also with all the "this part of it is console exclusive" and such its also a very expensive DLC so the expectations are VERY high on this given the price tag. Hopefully the delay will help make this memorable. I KNOW Borderlands comparisons have been done to death but look at the DLC track record there and that's basically what Bungie has to live up too. I have the digital edition but if the first expansion doesn't wow people, this may have been a short lived epic tale.

                      • Strikes are dungeons, raids are raids, PvP is pvp pVe has very lackluster missions such as kill these, collect these, search these, kill this BAM, just like an MMO would. I I thought defiance was a Borderlands MMO this game is a Borderlands MMO

                      • I hope you're not expecting the full story in the retail release. I don't like labeling the game as an MMO but facts are is does have a lot of elements of one, one of them being the story. The story will be expanded on with free content, dlc, and expansions. For example we'll be getting the Queens Wrath sometime this month which is going to give a little more story. Now I will not argue that they could have done a little bit more for the story, it seems more like an introduction then anything else and I was expecting just a little bit more from the way it ended, but at least I know more will come in due time....I don't consider it to be "incomplete", because the story isn't going to end any time soon.

                          • We weren't given a full game that had a half a billion dollar budget. For one lack of interesting content everything is same thing over and over again. No great story that we were promised and no true skill ranking system. Also lack of playlists and planets. One notable thing to is the lack of diverse weapons in matchmaking it's sad really Destiny so far as me and many people see it was a let down. Bungie isn't getting my money for dlc till they clean up the 60$ game I purchased.

                          • Its a prologue - a foundation. As a game its significant in scope for $60 with a LOT of room to grow. Yes its not a complete story - but apparently people missed the part where Bungie said it would take 10 years to tell the story they want to tell.
