Simple question really, Why does the Shotgun seem to be the one of choice for the crucible. I have played it a few times now and well put bluntly I get my but handed to me because I don't seem to have weapons that are strong enough. Any weapon suggestions for this game type ? I guess the gist of what I am saying here is that depending on the level you are at (and I think partially due to the bug exploits the early gamer got there hands on allowing for farming of rare/legendary gear) the odd are far stacked against you unless you have 12 hours spare to farm for gear every day.

It really depends on the type of player you are. I like the scout rifle as my primary and I tend to balance the long range with a shotgun. |But I also like the fusion rifles to not to many players use them.

I NEVER use a shotgun in the Crucible. It's powerful, yeah, I just don't want to be that guy. Instead, I use the 77 Wizard fusion rifle. It has extended range and one-hit-kills people at closer range. If you have the Field Scout upgrade, the mag is 8!

in the crucible, weapon damage and armor rating are normalized, meaning there is no level advantage in that sense. However, higher levels tend to have fully upgraded legendary/exotic weapons whose abilities give a slight advantage, and they likely have more time in the crucible, resulting in them having more skill. Shotguns have been a go-to weapon because the one-hit kill range was longer than it should be. Bungie has already attempted fixes. If you're a relatively new FPS player, I'd recommend ARs, since they don't rely on precision damage as much as other weapon types. If you can land headshots, I'd suggest scout rifles or hand cannons (scout for long/mid range, hc for mid/close) As for the farming you mentioned, just standing in front of a cave and shooting enemies actually had less of a chance at legendaries than playing strikes or in the crucible. It makes sense that a person who has more time played would have better gear.
