Mythic Gear... the tier above Exotic
I would love to see Bungie release a new tier for Weapons/Gear called "Mythic Gear". Something that is even rarer than Exotics, something that would keep players interested in "the grind". Where players no longer need to "farm" for strange coins in hopes the all-powerful Xur sells the missing piece to their Exotic Collection. Because this gear is not going to be sold by Xur.
Here is my take on what is could look like for players. “Mythic Gear” would be rewarded for achieving something "insurmountable" (hehe…titan Helm). Example: You get a mythic bounty from Xur for 30 Strange coins to Complete all level 30 strikes in a row without dying! If you die you have to buy the bounty again! There would only be ONE Primary, Secondary, and Heavy weapon, as well as ONE Helm, Arm, Chest, Boot for Mythic, now more 5-6 different types of primary weapon. It would be the “Mythic Primary” and everyone would know what you are talking about..etc.
Once you have equipped a piece of Mythic Gear/weapon that is it. You get either a weapon or armor, not both like an exotic. The class icon would be Light Blue or Shinny White. The point of this would to make this Slightly OP- rewarding
Examples:
Mythic Primary Weapon: Pulse Rifle, Each round in the burst fires one type of elemental damage, Full Auto, Full Stability, and average Scout Rifle range.
Mythic Helm (Hunter): Blade Dancer glows a different color to show it is using a the mythic gear, time is cut by a third, but you are invincible while your super is active.

Titan gauntlets that place fist of havoc in the melee. Warlock ones that put nova bomb in the grenade. A titan chest that allows you to shoot out of ward of dawn and creates a ward of dawn when critically wounded once every 5 minutes. Hunter peice which grants golden gun after 5 quick kills Etc. Let us have the rise of iron relic ax add some more sword style perks and have it take all three weapon slots. When they increaswere the power of the players to a whole new level you can then increase the challenges.

the background would be rainbowish, like a glowing backdrop. i think there should be one of each weapon type. (ar, pulse rifle, etc) the weapon can have different stats or perks, or maybe selected from a set of mythic perks that youd be able to choose -youd have to level the gun/armor and if its a higher tier than exotic then i think this would be cool- (id personally like it to not be rng but yeah) and its extremely hard to get. also, it would have to look awesome, as for armor, each class would need one for each armor slot. with a benefit for the class thats not game breaking too hard but good to have. also the weapons and armor can be modified/ and or changed to look like you want it to be (youd have to level the gear again if yu change the perks/stats. maybe you get a frame for a mythic weapon and you can choose what stats youd like, you know from the sets of stats they have for the general weapon type, or even make your own stats from a system of sorts. example: handcannons, you can make it a high impact, low rof or the opposite, with a selection of 5 perks. the 1st main perk would be from a list of perks you can just regularly get from all guns, and the middle skill tree you can choose from that selection. the *mythic perk* (like the exotic perk that makes weapons exotic but mythic) youd choose from a set of myhtic perks made for that weapon type. this way the weapon would be unique to you and your style, but still an amazing weapon. this also for the armor too. that would be worthy of a mythic tier in my opinion

Nope. I haven't gotten an exotic since Xur sold Icebreaker.

1 ReplyI really don't care for "Ultra Rare" gear in games. This one doesn't have a player economy, though, so maybe it'd be worthwhile. I'd like to see some Class items and Shaders drop with such mechanics, though.

They would be extremely rare drops thus make those who have them very lucky. If they entailed any sort of mission, it would have to be something that is 20 or more steps and would take weeks if not months to attain. No instant gratification for all the non-MMO and COD players. If there was a teir above exotics though, they would have to allow you to wear more than one exotic and make ALOT more exotic pieces. I don't think this idea would fit well with the current game structure but I have always thought it would be a cool idea.
