Soundbars

So curious. My current set up is sound bar connected to tv via a cable from tv to aux on soundbar, then ps4 con ected to tv via hdmi. The soundbar can support hdmi passthrough, meaning hdmi to soundbar to ps4. Question is, will the hdmi passthrough improve my sound quality at all and is it worth using the extra hdmi cable? Also would there be any decrease in latency by using this method. Any input would be great. Thanks.

  • If you use the TV for anything else (other than the PS4) then I would leave it "as is". Having your PS4 to TV connection as short and as simple as possible is probably best and eliminates any potential problems. Your TV to Soundbar is currently using RCA cables? Does your TV have an digital/optial audio out? Does the sound-bar have a digital/optical input? If you are hearing substandard audio, that could help. But to be honest, most folks can't hear the difference between a copper and an optical audio connection (unless there's something wrong with the copper).
