Short, Scary Stories! 2 [Updated, 4.15.09]

This thread will have some stories from the books "Scary Stories to tell in the Dark" and "More Scary Stories to tell in the Dark" Enjoy.
The Big Toe A boy was digging at this edge of his family's garden when he saw a toe poking out from the dirt. He tried to dig it out of the dirt, but it was stuck to something. The boy gave a great tug and the toe came out of the ground. He then heard a groan and something scamper away. he showed the toe to his mom. She said, "This'll be great to add to the soup tonight." So, the mother cut the toe into 3 pieces and put them into the soup. Later that night, after the boy ate supper, he felt tired and went to bed. he was awakened at midnight by a groaning in the street. "Where is my to-o-o-o-o-e?" it groaned. The boy got very scared. But he thought, "He doesn't know where I am, it won't find me." Then the groan again, but it was in front of his house. "Where is my to-o-o-o-o-e?" the boy tried to sleep, he thought it was just his imagination. But then he heard the front door open, and he heard the groan again. "Where is my to-o-o-o-o-e?" The boy heard footsteps slowly move through the kitchen into the dining room, then into the living room. He then heard footsteps slowly climbing the stairs. Closer the footsteps came. They were right outside his door. "Where is my to-o-o-o-o-e?" The do0or opened. The boy was shaking with fear. He listened as the footsteps moved closer through the dark room to his bed. Then they stopped. "Where is my to-o-o-o-o-e?" The voice groaned...
The next few posts will be made by me, they are were future stories will be. I'm not trying to bump this thread, I'm only making it so that you can see more stories on this first page. [Edited on 01.01.2011 11:22 AM PST]

 • From creepypasta.com: "Normally you sleep soundly, but the thunderstorm raging outside is stirring you from your sleep. You begin to doze, then another crash jolts you awake. The cycle lasts most of the night. So you lay there, eyes open and outward, looking at your room stretching out before you in oblong shadows. Your eyes move from nameless object, to object, until you reach your mirror, sitting adjacent to you across the room. Suddenly a flash of lighting, and the mirror flickers in illumination. For a scant second the mirror revels to you dozens of faces, silhouettes within its frame, mouths open and eyes blackened. They stare out at you, their black pupils fixed upon your face. Then it is done. Are you sure of what you have seen? Unsettled, you don’t sleep for the rest of the evening. The next morning you remove the mirror from your wall and toss it in the trash. It didn’t matter if the vision you had seen was of truth or falsehood, you wanted to be rid of that mirror. In fact, you scrap every mirror in your house. Weeks pass and the event of that night falls into passive memory. You are spending the day at a friend’s house and it’s time to use the bathroom. While you are in there the faucet starts to run without you prompting it. Taken aback by this, you do not yet act, trying to reason with your paranoia in your mind. The water starts to steam and a skin of moisture covers the mirror up above. You’re watching intently as words form: “Please return the mirrors. We miss watching you sleep at night.” The funny thing about this story is that I have a door-sized mirror on the wall at the end of my bad, and it's nailed there.

 • Silent Night (By me, myself, and I.) -John had just moved into his new neighborhood after selling off his house back in Jamestown, Virginia. He had moved to Errol, New Hampshire. It was a small town. Population around 200 people. He didn't mind. He wanted to find a nice, quiet place where he could start a book about Murderers and their psychology, as this had always interested him. His house was on the outskirts of town. Although he had grown up in a big city, he never was one for the fast-paced city life. He prefered the country. The buildings were about a half a mile apart. Dirt roads. Nothing special. Except for the scenery out onto Blood Lake. He wondered why the lake was called that. "Oh well." he thought. "I'll find out later. It's getting dark out." He had been there for about 3 days so far. Enough time to unpack all his things and settle in to his new surroundings. Each night at sunset he watched the lake shine blood red. Though that might be the most plausible reason for naming the lake Blood Lake, he had a feeling that it was not the full story. That something else in the past had something to do with it. He sat by the fire place, wrapped up in a comfortable, but expensive, down blanket, and had a warm cup of coffee. While gazing down upon the lake, he thought he saw a silhouette of a man outside of the window in the corner of his eye. He gave a small jump, but decided that since it was getting late, his eyes were starting to play tricks on him. He got up, poured his half-drank cup of coffee on the fire, and headed off to bed. He could not sleep that night. Not because of the coffee. He had barely drank half a cup all day. It was because of the silence. No noises. Not even crickets. He lay in his bed awake for most of the night. As he was about to finally fall asleep, he heard a footstep outside. He was not easily scared. He got up, opened his window and said: "All right. I know somebody is out there. I saw you this afternoon. Show yourself. Don't worry, I won't call the cops. I just want to know why you're out so late." No answer. Just silence greeted him. He thought nothing of it. Everything in his house was locked. He closed his window, locked it, and went to bed. -End of Part One- Comments?

 • Florine was a small, out of the way Italian village. It is so remote it doesn't have electricity and chooses to live in the old, peaceful style without any modern day distractions. George Baldwin moved to this town in 2003, hoping to find a peaceful place where he could write his new book, Jack and the Pumpkin. After a decade of searching he had finally heard about Florine. When he arrived there he opted to stay in an old cottage that had been covered in vines. The townsfolk asked if he was German, but George didn't like people knowing his bad past life, so he said no. With some help from the local folk he cleaned up the cottage and lived there. For a job he(all people in the village helped each other out) he worked for an elderly man who had the town's library. Three months in he bought a local vine plant, the peccare il veggente. Only ten days after he bought it He saw a strange sight. Instead of his car there was an old fashioned one, from the 40s, with what looked and smelled like manure. The next day he saw a man yelling in German to nobody. George tried to talk to the man, but he kept shouting in anger. It reminded George of a picture of a famous man. He couldn't remember the name. A week went by and he saw several young men lined up at the wall next to the house, faces angry but scared. He attempted to help them, but nothing happened. George talked to the old man about the sights, but the old man just shook his head. "You were nice. But they don't chose." That day he bought another plant, a small bush for the front yard called the Gli altri addolorano. The next day he woke up, and found himself walking outside, even though he didn't try to walk. He was being yelled at by what looked like Naz1 soldiers. One slammed the butt of his rifle in Georges face, and he yelled out, even though he didn't feel any pain. He was pushed against a wall. The he saw him. The man that was yelling at him before. It was Hitler! The man yelled at him and several other kids. He recognized them. These were the kids he had seen before. Then Hitler pulled out a pistol and shot one of them in the head. The another. He went through the kids one by one until George was the last. He pulled the trigger. George's eyes shot open. He was in the cottage, but vines had grown all around him. His eyes could only see the vines and the dirty floor. He saw eyes staring up at him, and suddenly the floor was blood. The blood rose, and George tried to stay above it. Eventually he drowned in it. A townsman gave another a bowl of honey. "Guess you were right," he said "Too bad he lied.He was German. Poor man." Florine was a small, out of the way Italian village. It is so remote it doesn't have electricity and chooses to live in the old, peaceful style without any modern day distractions. It is said that when Hitler made a trip down here he visited the small village and wanted to purchase it. The towns people refused, and he allowed them to keep their village, even if he was somewhat angered. When a group of teenagers vandalized his car with horse manure he found them and killed them with his own pistol. After that he left. It is said the boys that died haunt the cottage next door, exacting revenge on all Germans that are near the death spot. [Edited on 10.19.2008 1:56 PM PDT]

 •
Posted by: T3H NOO8 I made this one myself. I label it Starving. -One winter night there were four friends hanging out in a log cabin in the wilderness. Their names were Shelly, Joe, Shawn, and Jess. They were all sitting in front of the fireplace talking about their "Deepest Secrets." Shelly had the most shocking one. She had never liked to be alone ever since her family went up to Alaska to go sled racing. During a blizzard shelly's family was separated from the group. They were lost. 3 days passed and they ran out of food. Due to survival instinct, they had eaten the dogs in the passing 2 weeks for food. Shelly's parents gave her most of the food, because she was their only child. And parents want their children to live. 3 more days passed. Her mom and dad had died from the cold. 3 more days and Shelly was saved. The rescuers had asked where the dogs and her parents were, but she could not answer. She had then gone to Montana to live with her grandparents. And 3 years passed and then she made friends with all of them, and came here. -Her friends did not believe her. They thought she was kidding. "I'm starving. I'm going to the kitchen to get something to eat." Shelly said as she got up. 4 minutes passed and Joe called for her, asking what was wrong. No answer. He got up to go check it out. He couldn't find her. They all decided to split up and look for Shelly. The fuse box in the cellar surged, causing the lights to go out. Joe took out his lighter and decided to go down to the cellar to see what happened. Shawn was upstairs checking out the bedrooms. He had a flashlight. He found nothing and decided to go downstairs. He heard a loud thud coming from the cellar. He walked down. Jess was checking outdoors. She came back in and asked why all the lights were out. Nobody answered. "Another trick." she sighed. They had played tricks on her before, as she was easily scared. She heard a loud thump from down cellar. She grabbed a flashlight sitting by the fireplace and went down cellar. As she opened the door the battery died. "Shelly?" Jess called. --End.
I hate stories that have no ending (meaning not explaining what happened).

 • (Repost due to abandoned thread.) Once me and a few friends were playing at the park, we were about 6 years old at the time. This kid called Micheal came over, Doctors said there was something wrong with him. "Can I play?" he asked. Not wanting to find out for ourselves what would happen if we made him upset we let him play. A Tense hour passed, everyone just going with the flow, except for Micheal who was always more active than anyone else. I remember the last 1 minute before his carer came over to take him away. "SHHHH I'm Invisible! You can't see me!" He then told us how we would always be best friends. Truth be told we actually started to like him. We did the same tomorrow and the day after for a good Ten Weeks. Until he had died of "Natural Causes" as the Doctors called it. College came around, Old friends had departed from one another, new ones were made. University came and went. Until I had reached a gap year. Sat alone in my chair I started to think about all the friends that I had known, Micheal came to mind. What exactly was "wrong" with him? he seemed pretty normal to us, and did he really die of "Natural Causes"? or was that just a cover-up? Regardless it didn't matter now, He couldn't tell me what truly happened. I seemed to be talking out loud to myself for some reason. Suddenly a voice out of nowhere. "SHHHH I'm Invisible! You can't see me!" SideNote: Ten Internets to anyone who knows where this is from.

Think about it. Shelly enters the kitchen (Which leads to the basement) and 4 minutes pass. They all split up in a search. They all go down there after hearing a loud thump, one by one. Who could be down there doing what?

(By Me, Myself, and I.) -It was 3:00 AM when he checked his clock before he went to bed. Strangely enough, he woke up at 5:00. Much earlier than he had ever been up before. The thought did not weigh heavily on his mind for long. Instead, he cooked up a hot bowl of oatmeal, and decided for the first time to watch the sun rise on the lake. It was much different than sunset. Instead of almost ruby red, it glowed a deep blue. Almost the color of the sky in daylight with no clouds. That's strange. he thought. Why would it glow deep blue instead of dark red? I think I'll do some research on this lake. Something about it makes me feel uneasy now. -After beginning his book on the psychology of Murderers, he ate a small lunch, got in his car, and headed to town. He found the local library as soon as he entered town. It was small, almost the size of a church. In fact, it closely resembled one. But not quite. He parked in the lot, turned off the car, and got out. There was no need to lock it in a small town like this. All the people knew better. As he turned to face the woods, he the silhouette of the man he saw last night, peeking around the backside of the library. It was a dark shadow, almost transparent. Even in bright sunlight, it had remained a shadow. It stood there for a moment, and just vanished. Almost like steam, but in an ominous manner. -He stood there for a moment, dumbfounded by what he saw. He then shook off the feeling of fear, regained his composure, and acted like nothing happened when he entered the library. He dared not tell anyone what he saw. What would they say? Probably that he was crazy. He walked up to the main desk. Behind it was a small, elderly lady. Around 70 years old. "You're a new face. What brings you here, dear?" The polite old lady asked. "I came to look up Blood Lake. Just wanted to find out how it got its name." "I see you're smart. Normally anyone would just assume it got it's name because of the color it glows at sunset.
