Short, Scary Stories! 2 [Updated, 4.15.09]

This thread will have some stories from the books "Scary Stories to tell in the Dark" and "More Scary Stories to tell in the Dark" Enjoy.
The Big Toe A boy was digging at this edge of his family's garden when he saw a toe poking out from the dirt. He tried to dig it out of the dirt, but it was stuck to something. The boy gave a great tug and the toe came out of the ground. He then heard a groan and something scamper away. he showed the toe to his mom. She said, "This'll be great to add to the soup tonight." So, the mother cut the toe into 3 pieces and put them into the soup. Later that night, after the boy ate supper, he felt tired and went to bed. he was awakened at midnight by a groaning in the street. "Where is my to-o-o-o-o-e?" it groaned. The boy got very scared. But he thought, "He doesn't know where I am, it won't find me." Then the groan again, but it was in front of his house. "Where is my to-o-o-o-o-e?" the boy tried to sleep, he thought it was just his imagination. But then he heard the front door open, and he heard the groan again. "Where is my to-o-o-o-o-e?" The boy heard footsteps slowly move through the kitchen into the dining room, then into the living room. He then heard footsteps slowly climbing the stairs. Closer the footsteps came. They were right outside his door. "Where is my to-o-o-o-o-e?" The do0or opened. The boy was shaking with fear. He listened as the footsteps moved closer through the dark room to his bed. Then they stopped. "Where is my to-o-o-o-o-e?" The voice groaned...
The next few posts will be made by me, they are were future stories will be. I'm not trying to bump this thread, I'm only making it so that you can see more stories on this first page. [Edited on 01.01.2011 11:22 AM PST]

 • I heard this one before, and then I heard an old lady tell it. She was known for her storytelling, and even though I knew what was going to happen I still got chills up my spine.

 • From creepypasta.com: "Normally you sleep soundly, but the thunderstorm raging outside is stirring you from your sleep. You begin to doze, then another crash jolts you awake. The cycle lasts most of the night. So you lay there, eyes open and outward, looking at your room stretching out before you in oblong shadows. Your eyes move from nameless object, to object, until you reach your mirror, sitting adjacent to you across the room. Suddenly a flash of lighting, and the mirror flickers in illumination. For a scant second the mirror revels to you dozens of faces, silhouettes within its frame, mouths open and eyes blackened. They stare out at you, their black pupils fixed upon your face. Then it is done. Are you sure of what you have seen? Unsettled, you don’t sleep for the rest of the evening. The next morning you remove the mirror from your wall and toss it in the trash. It didn’t matter if the vision you had seen was of truth or falsehood, you wanted to be rid of that mirror. In fact, you scrap every mirror in your house. Weeks pass and the event of that night falls into passive memory. You are spending the day at a friend’s house and it’s time to use the bathroom. While you are in there the faucet starts to run without you prompting it. Taken aback by this, you do not yet act, trying to reason with your paranoia in your mind. The water starts to steam and a skin of moisture covers the mirror up above. You’re watching intently as words form: “Please return the mirrors. We miss watching you sleep at night.” The funny thing about this story is that I have a door-sized mirror on the wall at the end of my bad, and it's nailed there.

 • I made this one myself. I label it Starving. -One winter night there were four friends hanging out in a log cabin in the wilderness. Their names were Shelly, Joe, Shawn, and Jess. They were all sitting in front of the fireplace talking about their "Deepest Secrets." Shelly had the most shocking one. She had never liked to be alone ever since her family went up to Alaska to go sled racing. During a blizzard shelly's family was separated from the group. They were lost. 3 days passed and they ran out of food. Due to survival instinct, they had eaten the dogs in the passing 2 weeks for food. Shelly's parents gave her most of the food, because she was their only child. And parents want their children to live. 3 more days passed. Her mom and dad had died from the cold. 3 more days and Shelly was saved. The rescuers had asked where the dogs and her parents were, but she could not answer. She had then gone to Montana to live with her grandparents. And 3 years passed and then she made friends with all of them, and came here. -Her friends did not believe her. They thought she was kidding. "I'm starving. I'm going to the kitchen to get something to eat." Shelly said as she got up. 4 minutes passed and Joe called for her, asking what was wrong. No answer. He got up to go check it out. He couldn't find her. They all decided to split up and look for Shelly. The fuse box in the cellar surged, causing the lights to go out. Joe took out his lighter and decided to go down to the cellar to see what happened. Shawn was upstairs checking out the bedrooms. He had a flashlight. He found nothing and decided to go downstairs. He heard a loud thud coming from the cellar. He walked down. Jess was checking outdoors. She came back in and asked why all the lights were out. Nobody answered. "Another trick." she sighed. They had played tricks on her before, as she was easily scared. She heard a loud thump from down cellar. She grabbed a flashlight sitting by the fireplace and went down cellar. As she opened the door the battery died. "Shelly?" Jess called. --End.

 •
Posted by: A FLYING PAN Here is a story. I wrote this myself. But sadly I do not have a name yet! There was a family who certainly were not hurting for money. Well it was there 8 year old son's birthday. So they decided to take him shopping in the city. It was a very busy day as usual. Well when the boy had all of his gifts they were going down to the subway to get across the city. The family went on their train to get across the subway. They got off the train and headed for the elevators. When the doors opened there were many people in there already. They were all adults who were fairly big fellows. The boy darted into the elevator leaving behind his parents. the parents tried to get in the elevator but it was to late the elevator doors closed and was heading right on up. The parents rode on up on the other elevator the same time the boy went up. When the doors opened they thought they would meet their son. Well they didn't see him anywhere in the crowd. In fact they didn't even see him get off the elevator. So the parents looked all over through the crowds but did not find their son. They quickly called the cops and they arrived very quickly. A detective was sent on the case. First thing to do was to check the elevator. The detective found a button and showed it to the boys parents. They agreed that it was their son's button from his shirt. Next thing was the detective did was watch all of the security camera recordings. He obviously went to watch the elevator camera's recording first. He saw the big man and all the other people who surrounded him. He also saw the boy enter the elevator. After that he couldn't see much because a person got in front of the camera. He watched the camera that showed everyone filing out of the elevator. But there was no sign of the boy leaving the elevator still. He thought he knew the big bearded man in the elvator with the boy from somewhere. He did some research and found out who the man was. He was a man who went on a expedition to Antarctica. They lost communication and had to survive. Many of his friends had died and they ran short of food. so they had to eat his friends to live. The other people in the elevator were also survivors in the man's group. They also resorted to cannibalism to live. The detective decided to meet with man. He easily found his address. He lived in the city so it was not hard to find him. The detective had an interview with the man. " So were you on an elevator on the day of November 12th?" the detective asked. "Yes I was" Said the bearded man. "Did you happen to see a little boy in the elevator riding up with you?". "Yes I did, he was all alone. I'm surprised his parents weren't with him." " Yes well um, did you ever see him leave the elevator by any chance?" " I don't think I did, I was one of the first people out and there was a pretty big crowd." " Ok because that little boy has turned up missing and was reported not coming out of the elevator." "Yes well that is quite sad and I wish I could help but I didn't see him leave myself." "Well thankyou for your time." "I'll do anything to help, oh and by the way check out my book I wrote from when me and my crew had to survive in Antarctica. I think it isn't to bad for a book I wrote." "I'll be sure to do that thanks." The detective left and went to the library to pick up the man's book. The detective read the book in the next few days. The book was about how hard it was to live. It said how many of his best friends died on that trip and how they were like his brothers. But the only way to live was to eat the corpses of his dead friends. It was a horrible feeling he said but he wuld do anything to have the sweet taste of life. After reading the book that afternoon he replayed all the footage in the elevator. He studied the man and all of his friends. Something just didn't feel write about this. He watched all of them walk out but still not the boy. He slowly played the footage and he saw a cane in one of the person's hand. He also saw a ball in the other man's hand. All of them were wearing backpacks for some odd reason. Thats when it clicked! What if the big man and all of his crew were still cannibals. They proably didn't like the fact of eating someone at first to live. But what if they got use to it and eventually started to enjoy it? He studied the camera footage one last time and thought how much that cane looked like a leg or arm. Or how that oval ball looked like a foot. Sadly he couldn't really see if it was or wasn't and could not get enough evidence. But what he thought was crazy is how there was not one drop on blood in the elevator!
Is there an end that actually tells what happened? That was pretty good. • Walking home from a party , it was thundering pretty hard... And as I turned there was an oddly colored lightning bolt shaped like a cross The next day I notice a black robed figure with a scythe at about 7:06 PM I close my eyes and when I open them I'm staring into an empty abyss...little did i know...it was his eye socket...he said to me "7:06"...and disappeared A week later a man appeared at my door, thinking it was the pizza delivery man i opened it... All i saw was a carcass on a stick...with the bones layed out in the words "Is Also" I tried to tell people about it but they didnt believe me and tried to calm me down... I blacked out and waking up in a furnace there was a face...and it told me "666" Then i remembered an old Folklore: "Those who see the Cross of Lightning must not open their eyes at 7:06, less they see the Soul-Liberator, Grim, for they will recieve the cryptic message ' 7:06 is also 6:66' And with that the furnace lit and i was greeted by the familiar faces of my friends, but little did I know i wasnt in the right reality... First story ever >.<

 • He heard the jets over above... His heart raced searching frantically for a way out. Hot molten pieces of steel flew over him, but his instinct told him not to retreat... He jumped a high 3 metres into the air. As quickly as he flew up three needles pierced his heart. His chest cavity popped. His surroundings faded into an untimely black. Suddenly he arose again a new spore dwelling in his chest. The last of the Brutes from the Halo 3 forum had been surrounded. He jumped and clawed his way through a Halo 3 Forum poster.

 • One day, a man got up for work. He got all washed up, and put on his best tie. When he walked out the door, and started to get in his car, the unimaginable happened! Well, maybe not completely unimaginable, just moderatly shocking, I supose... But, as I was saying, as he started to get in his car, the moderatly shocking happened! All of a sudden he felt a shock across his body, and his left arm went numb. He dipped his head and looked at the ground. What he saw, was a puddle of dark colored liquid. He thought it was from his car, so he continued to get in... When he went to reach into his pocket for his keyes, he couldnt. All that remained of his arm was the rag of his sleeve and a bloody mess of bone and flesh. He reliesed what had happened just then. He looked out the windshield, and the front of his car was on fire! He turned around and saw the back half of his car was gone also! He turned around and saw a huge black scar on the ground where he was standing just moments ago. He felt a wash of pain envelop his body, and everything went black... Police determined this event as a suicide. A man had lost all purpose of life, and had become an alcoholic. He had placed explosive charges under his car, and had forgotten them do to his blood-alcohol level, and was intensly drunk. He had died in the secondary explosion caused by the car's engine combusting. The AustinPD are glad to state that no other people were hurt. ~Pengoo64~

 •
Room for One More A man named Josh went to New York City on a business trip. He stayed with his friends in a apartment outside the city. They talked about life in New York and Michigan, where Josh lived. When Josh went to bed, he tossed and turned and couldn't sleep. He heard a car pull up into the driveway, and saw the headlights shine through his window. He wondered who would come this late. He looked outside and saw a long, black hearse, with many people inside of it. The hearse driver looked at him, and said, "There is room for one more." Josh stayed in his room, and the driver drove off after a couple of minutes. The next day, Josh went to one of the many office buildings in New York City for his business meeting. He went up the elevator to the top floor, and went to the meeting. After the meeting, he went to the elevator to go back down. The doors opened, and he saw the elevator was very crowded. "Room for one more.", he heard a man say quietly. Josh looked at the group of people and saw the Hearse driver. "No thanks, I'll wait for the next elevator." Josh said. The elevator doors closed, and the Elevator started it's journey down. Josh heard a scraping noise, and many screams and shrieks. The elevator cable had snapped, and the elevator had fallen all 50 floors to the bottom of the shaft. Everyone died.
This scared the living hell out of me.
