never have i been so discouraged and disgusted with destiny

Today is a day many hold dear to them the launch of a raid and of course everyone wants to get their feet wet. there was alot of speculation and debate amongst the community on what hard mode would change and I will tell you now its not much.... Lamp run now has all level 33 thrall and more explodes level 33 knights and level 33 ogres Bridge now has all level 33 enemies including the gate keepers on the other side as well as level 33 wizards and ogres on the other side most of the enemies here will have a yellow health bar Shrekier run has level 33 enemies not much changed Death singer has level 33 enemies including omnighoul .... who would have guessed Now here come the fun part ! Croat Bungie's new overlord of death and despair that was cheesed for a good month and a half now has Chalice removed Speed spawning boomer knights Replaced bridge knight with a wizard Gate keeper now spawns in the center area under the room you use to activate Crota which can still be only killed by a sword bearer, it takes around 5 hits or else it lingers Edit: when crota''s health hits below 25% auto enrage is enabled this is another and tryst to attack you later. ogres still spawn and we have to deal with all this while killing Crota in the 9 minute time limit till enrage hits. This raid has just made some gear mandatory aka Red death Suros Insurmountable skullfort Apotheosis veil Etc... Why is it this way you ask because, but hurt bungie wanted to put everyone at a disadvantage. My team had no trouble getting to Crota that's fine we do fine on normal every week. But Croat himself is inherently changed too much, bungie did not only throw the book they threw the library at us. Not only did they throw the library, they also ignored the bugs blatantly hindering the community in this raid. Examples of which are heavy ammo loss upon death, sword disappearing after killing the sword bearer, and ammo packs not awarding ammo upon opening one. the problems are rising and its starting to take its toll I will finish this raid with my team and I will get rewards as I have only received shards from the whole thing...... I only hope it gets better from here on out because this..... this is a disgrace a slap in the face for alot of the Community. I understand the hard raid has to be hard, but it also has to have a set way to beat it without having to repeat the same tactic over and over until the stars align and you get a perfect run... What are your thoughts on this I'm open to discussion. edit 1/25/2015 we finally finished it after about 87 runs and a crap ton of bugs/glitches the feeling of winning is great but the reward of nothing still sucks. but the shader was worth the work none the less i still want bungie to address these issues for people to have at least a fighting chance, and hopefully not to be screwed on loot like I was

    • I have posted this a few times, here's one more I don't have a Raid team, and for 2 5 hour game nights I couldn't find a Fireteam to kill Crota on Normal so no Hard Crota for me I'll just log in to run my Warlock on Normal through the Raid until Crota hoping to get that last chest armor piece

            • You won't need the gear if you can avoid taking too much damage which is doable. But I understand your gripe, luckily for me I have the necessary stuff to make Crota that much easier.

            • It's challenging but makes it more rewarding when you beat it and don't have full consumables and you ammo won't glitch

              • Bungie didn't make these changes because the were butt hurt the made them because they were inevitable. First look at the raid gear, we have gloves that gen orbs and helms that regen health when you pick up an orb. (Not all raid helms have this I suggest doing crota on normal hoping for one until you have a helm with this perk. This told me that the chalice would not be there for health regen, and be happy they removed it cause they could have left the chalice and used it to cleanse weight of darkness. Second look at vog they wanted to wrap all of the earlier challenges of the raid into the hard mode aetheon. This is why the gate keeper should not be surprising. As for his placement that was a hard hit to a common strategy, but it actually speeds up the fight and makes wipes less likely as long as you can kill the ogres fast. The real trial in this raid is for the randoms, where vog was largely up to the skill of individual players and minimal communication this one is all about planning things out as a team having all the right tool sets and constant communication

              • I enjoy the fact that it is a grind and a challenge to find the right team and have the right weapons. I mean isn't that the point of the game? Isn't it suppose to be a grind and each time you add a new exotic or legendary piece you improve your chances of experiencing new things in this raid/strikes/crucible. I have yet to complete the raid but yet each time I come closer I see a new ray of light. I have been rather lucky with my drops and I have a great foundation of friends to assist me on the raid. I just can not wait to finish the raid and enjoy the childish screaming and pure delight from completing something that can be so frustrating. So I get why people are mad about the changes but that is what makes it that much sweater when you complete it.

              • Took my team about 4 1/2 hours which is about what I expected. It's pretty dumb how they just added more majors/ultras and upped the level to 33 though. The only actual mechanics that changed is that there's less time before the death singer start the lynargy ore whatever it's called, the chalice was removed, and Crota engrages when his health is about 10% (not 25 like you stated). These changes are miniscule. We want to see big changes. Add a new boss, throw some strategy changing mechanics in there, do something other than just making the enemies stronger. Use some imagination.

              • Just beat this with my team after trying for around 10 hours over the past 2 days (mostly on Crota). I'm very happy with how hard it is (not the glitches obviously) but the mechanics! Even with the new 'middle section' stray which we used the timing is very hard! Took us several hours to have a successfully strategy even without the Wizards spawning. We finally did it in 4m30s before the ogres spawned and it felt amazing. This is the first time in the game for ages that I actually felt I achieved something great! All the other raids are way to easy. I like the idea of beating something not everyone can beat... That's what the hardest part of a video game should be!

              • I havent played in 2 weeks... and i have no desire to anymore. I played evolve beta, enjoyed it, and started to crank up destiny, but the grind just seemed so daunting that I didnt even bother. Now i really dont even wanna play it. Basically the 100s of hours I've poured into the same areas, same strikes, and same 2 raids over and over has finally burnt out destiny for me. Ill probably pick it back up at house of wolves, but i dont know if ill grind at it again.

                • I beat it along time ago and other players that can't beat it are hating and trolling the ones that did. I'll try to do bounties and they'll try to stop me and kill me with a sparrow when I need to do a strike without dying. Might not wear my shader anymore..

                • I learned something new about the game in hard mode today. If you go to that pool of water below where you spawn for Crota, aka where everyone used to fight the ogres. You crouch and can shoot yourself in the knee to kill yourself. Pretty nifty if you ask me.

                  • Because of posts about keeping the raids relevant, Bungie have employed a neat little tactic here. You see, in order to comfortably take Crota down, you would ideally be level 33. Think about that, currently max light level is 32 putting you at a stop on progression. When the 33 gear hits vendors, you'll be going back to HM Crota to do it more easily. Then you'll chance at the HoW raid. This overlap serves to keep the last raid relevant whilst running alongside new raids. It will happen again with new content in September. I believe Bungie saw the gap between getting maxed out from VOG and then playing at max level saw a drop off in daily interest. This way, the overlap keeps people coming back daily, rather than raid weekly.

                    • I agree with you, the raids in this game really are not that fun. Its like the developers don't have any creativity or don't have the programming skill to do what they want. I think they don't have the programming skill to make it happen... Why else the endless bugs in the raids that derail us most of the time. My group figures out how to do the raids just fine but what stops us every time are the bugs that Bungie will not fix. My guess is they are justifying the bug as a difficulty factor to extend play time.

                      • Not sure what everyone exptected... it is hard mode of the same raid... they weren't releasing a new raid rather a different difficulty... so same raid(mechanics) different diffuclty(enemy level)

                        • Hard modes are meant to discourage you. It's suppose to push you to become better and get better players around you. If you can't beat crota this week it's fine, come back next week and try again. You people just want to be held and coddled when in most games hms bosses can take an entire raid night to get perfect with multiple wipes with the boss almost dead. Suck it up.

                        • What exactly were people expecting...? Hard VoG was just detention bubbles at Atheon, extra gorgons, and extra oracles during the Templar fight... And almost all enemies were at level 30. Were people expecting a new raid..?
