So the design Bungie has made, from what I see, is:
Vortex Grenade: highest damage if the enemy (most likely big and slow boss) stays inside for most of the base duration (and usually steps out of diameter after base duration)
Scatter Grenade: high and quick damage done if thrown at the base of the enemy, but only partial damage of total damage to surrounding enemies due to scatter, harder to get max damage out.
Axion Bolt: medium-high damage if they're within original proximity but hits 2 targets max, near guarantee to hit stuff.
To you experienced voidwalkers in having used all 3 grenades a lot struggling to find what's truly the best in PvE, what do you find the most effective?
I've found myself excluding axion bolt and using it in PvP when an enemy is low, and switching between scatter and vortex in different situations for PvE.
Also if you do use one over the other, how do you make your build? Energy drain when hitting with ability + increased duration? Vortex duration increase if using vortex grenade? (They tend to step out of range after the base 3 seconds) Increased explosion radius?

I like scatter grenade the best. With bloom it's awesome
