forced to play crucible

Alright I recently got my third exotic weapon bounty and I picked thorn because I've been wanting it ever since the buff, anyway I completed the first few requirements fairly fast and then I get hit with the next requirement which is to " use void damage to defeat guardians in the crucible. Death will slow your progress. " now at first I thought meh that will be easy because the last one which was kill 500 hive went pretty quick and it obviously wasn't 500 kills I got it was more like 200-300 but after a while in the crucible I found out it's 5 points per kill and you get reduced by 2 points if you die which for me is a big problem as I'm pretty bad in the crucible and the void damage requirement makes this even worse since I only have praedyths revenge and atheons epilogue as void weapons now I'm ok with the sniper but I need to get into specific maps for me to actually go positive and gain points rather than lose points but even then I'm only gaining 12-15 points per game and in more than a few I came out with 15-20 points less than I went in with. So my question is should I abandon the bounty or wait to see if they fix it ?

  • Why are there so many posts about Thorn being too hard to get? If you can't fulfill all parts of the bounty you aren't worthy of the gun. Either get a team to help you stomp your enemies into the dust or give up. OR you acquire more void weapons and rework your strategy.

  • I'd say keep at it, maybe grab a void fusion rifle or shotgun to help out in the cramped maps. If all else fails, you can look for some people to join your fireteam in rumble then kill the hell out of them. Best of luck with it.

  • Some of the best PvP weapons are obtained through PvE...but that's none of my buisness (VoC, Vex Mytho, Fatebringer, Found Verdict, Light of the Abyss, Corrective Measure etc) But you don't see PvP'ers complaining about this. I'm not attacking you, I'm just saying that everyone has to go out of their comfort zone.

    • They aren't going to "fix it"...because it isn't broken. Thorn is one of hte most powerful weapons in the game, and Bungie wants to see that it goes to players who show prowess in the WHOLE game. Not just the parts they "like". 1. If your Titan or Warlock has the bounty...then play as a Defender or a Voidwalker. Both of these have abiilities that do void damage, so kills with them also county towards the bounty. 2. Take your Atheon's Epilogue, and spec it to maximize stability...and then discipline yourself to go for head shots. Its low impact leads to a slighly longer Time To Kill than multipurpose auto rifles like Shadow Price or Suros Regime. But if you get headshots the fire rate will cause your victim to *flinch* and make it harder for them to fire their own weapon accurately. That's how you win fights with this weapon. 3. Buy a good void damage fusion rifle or shotgun...and void damage heavy weapon. In regular Crucible they don't have to be legendaries, because everything is normalized. 4. This way, every kill you make goes ot the bounty...and you simply have to keep a KD of better than 0.5 to finish the bounty. 5. If you are playing control, STAY TOGETHER. Run as at LEAST a pair....a trio is even better. Lone Wolves----unless they are REALLY good at PvP----die quickly playing Control in the Crucible. So running as a "pack" will not only reduce the number of times you die (because it minimizes the number of times you get into fights where you're outnumbered) it also leads to easy kills and assists because one person can pin down the target, while another person flanks him and completes the kill. Or picks up the assist.

    • I beat the thorn bounty with a blue sniper. , no shotgun or heavy. Its not that bad and really not that hard as that is probably the toughest pvp bounty of them all. Just go do it. I dont like pve but i still play it.

Do Rumble and get your friends to do it with you. If you have 2 friends, just gather them together and ask them to let you kill the shit out of them. You'll have it done in no time.

      • I used a void fusion rifle for this part twice (got the bounty more times than I remember) and didn't have too many issues. I recommend void fusion or shotgun and play control and stick around a control point or stick to close range areas so you can't be picked off from a distance.

      • Exotic bounties have both PvE and pvp elements, for the most part. There is nothin to fix. It isn't required to complete an exotic bounty. Having Atheon's epilogue is one of the most straightforward means of completing that bounty. If this is on your titan, spec defender - your grenades and melee ability will add to your void damage count.

          • I have a solution. A couple days ago my friend got that bounty.(thorn) he asked if I would help him and I said yes. We went through the bounty, but he got to that part on it. Get 500 points using void damage. He has Atheon's epilogue, so we played rumble where he hid in a spot and I went there and he shot me with Atheon's epilogue and no one really ever found him. That was a little slow so he got his cousin on and we both did that. A couple matches later he got thorn. Hope this helped. Ps:at first, thorn isn't as good as you think, but hang on to it and level it up and it will be your favorite exotic. Besides ice breaker :)

            • The bounties that require crucible have been like that since launch, so I doubt they will change them now. Which class did you get the bounty with? Warlocks and titans get an advantage over hunters, as their void sub-class skills count (it's not just weapon kills). Also, pick up a void heavy, even if it's a green or blue weapon. If you're not aware, damage is normalized in crucible, so even a low attack rating weapon does plenty of damage in PvP (iron banner being the exception). If you don't like snipers, find a green or blue rarity shotty/fusion rifle. It's more about the weapon mods in crucible than attack/defense stats. Use team games like clash or control so you have teammates to use as distractions/meat shields...I mean, so you can help out others to victory while you finish the bounty. Either play ultra aggressive and trade kills, or more conservatively and try to minimize deaths. If it frustrates you that much, honestly just drop the bounty. You're not being 'forced' to do anything.
