Even at a high price, because glimmer farming is incredibly easy you increase your legendary and exotic engram rate too quickly. Most people acquire enough notes for like 2 engrams a week. If you can buy engrams with glimmer you'd see people grabbing tens and tens of exotic engrams every week, which would defeat the point of the game.

This assumes that xur would have loads of exotic engrams available.

Even if he had only one, People would spend the 48 hours strictly glimmer farming to raise their reputation with the cryptarch to yield packages that have a chance for legendary engrams. You can cap out your glimmer in less than 2 hours with the exclusion mission. That's potentially 24+ exotic engrams a week while the current average rate is about 24 in 3 months.

Why wouldn't it be. What's the point of changing the currency, then relimiting the amount you can buy when its already limited. The only reason peoole want to buy engrams with glimmer is in an attempt to obtain more exotic engrams than motes of light limit to them currently. If motes of light were more common, this post wouldn't even exist.

Why would they? If I go on vacation from my job, I want nothing to do with it. Period. They've been dealing with negative reviews and overall bungie hate since day 1, if you're going on vacation, why would you want to deal with that.

Untrue. Someone would still question the role of the cryptarch and make suggestions for how he should operate.

Edited by StrictlyTy: 1/4/2015 3:34:27 AMRight, but they most likely wouldn't be suggesting a different currency, they'd simply want the cryptarch to sell rares up to exotics all week, because they aren't satisfied with the weekend only limit on exotics and rarity of legendaries. Most of these posts stem from the frustration of how rng and motes limit the frequency of how often you're visiting the cryptarch to decrypt a legendary or exotic.

True. But its all the same. The game shouldn't feel frustrating. It should actually be rewarding. Not that exotics need to drop like candy through a hole in a 10-year-old's Halloween bag... But a player should consistently pick up gear that is either useful or breaks down into much needed materials. For a loot game there is a real issue with loot drops and overall size of the pool. Destiny should have gone the way of super deep procedurally created gear at lower rarities, with exotic gear also being procedurally created to match the player's level but having some standard sets of perks. Finally legendary gear should have been the rarest (just based on the naming conventions of the rarity classes) and been upgradeable so that no matter the level it drops it can be used throughout the life of the game.
