Bungie, you guys did NOT increase the chance of legendary engrams in Cryptarch packages
You did not. Its been over 10 cryptarch levels and all I have received are blue engrams. Change the package rarity to blue to properly reflect the contents, or actually fix and actually implement the ridiculous claim youve made. There is no way this is just RNG.
Do something about this. Idgaf if I don't get a legendary engram, just dont lie to me and say you increased the drop rates.
Edit: People seem to be getting a bit confused. I'm talking specifically about the Cryptarch packages (the ones you get in the mail) after you level him up. I'm not talking about blue engrams not giving me purples, or purples engrams not dropping from mobs.
Edit 2: The response and support this thread is getting is amazing. Let's get enough attention to get a dev to respond with an answer that will satisfy us. We want hard numbers, figures, stats, anything. This is definitely not just an RNG thing.

Edited by Anachronic: 12/22/2014 7:22:18 PMI was at cryptarch lvl 20 when the rules are changed...of the remaining levels I have made only 2 of them have not had a legendary engram. Before the change I got 1 legendary engram total for all of my levels. Just my observations...not definitive

2 RepliesI think there's some confusion as to what exactly they meant when they changed the Cryptarch. They slightly increased they drop rate for legendary items in the Cryptarch package, but they also increased the XP required to level up by 2x (by decreasing the amount of XP earned for engrams). The word "slightly" signifies only a minimal increase, they'd have to double the drop rate for the probability to remain the same, they'd have to more than double the drop rate for you to have a better chance of receiving legendary engrams than you used to. They've effectively made it HARDER to get legendaries, not easier.

I am getting exactly the same. All I can remember getting post patch/DLC is 2 x blue engrams. I definitely haven't got anyting other than blue each cryptarch level. Pre patch / DLC if I got blues I at least got 5. I do agree with the poster below re them not saying they'd increase the purple rate. I just think I'm getting less blues and no purples (ie, noticeably worse overall) - I've probably levelled him 4-5 times post DLC. Ranking vanguard however, is a bit better for me at the moment, mostly because it has been giving me actual items not engrams. Oh well, my luck with anything RNG related in the game generally sucks. But I still love it!

I got two legendary engrams from the postmaster yesterday due to a Cryptarch level up. One of the best engram drops I've ever had, but of course the Cryptarch had to ruin my enjoyment. B-line Trauma and the LDR 5001 sniper. Both had absolutely terrible upgrades so I dismantled them.

I have locked it up 10 as well haven't received anything but 2 to 3 blues before they supposedly increased the chances I was getting shaders and purples , on top of that it takes even longer to lvl up to get noting so -blam!- the cryptard

I don't think they ever said anything about the Cryptarch having higher changes of giving legendary engrams in his packages...

This x1000..........I know you are not talking about purple engrams dropping but, since Dark Below I have gotten ONE purple engram as a reward from a strike, that is the only one I have seen. But yes, EVERY time I lvl Cryptarch is only blue engrams and, these engrams don't even give me updated Blues, much less purples. So silly.

Yeah, I think I've ranked up like 10+ times and only gotten blues. Its a little disheartening but my expectations aren't that high for the Cryptarch anyway...lol

Well I have only picked up one level since it takes twice as long now... I got one purple which became a warlock legendary and a blue engram. I would prefer the old system. I remember hitting the level a month or so ago and getting three purple engrams.

I've been getting more purple engram drops. My cryptarch level up packages have been better too.

Leveled up my cryptarch 6 times last week, a couple times I got 2 blues and a couple other times I got 2 purples. Most were one blue and one purp. You must just have some bad luck lately

Me either, however vanguard and crucible packages consistently give me legendary items.

All I get are blue or green engrams I'm a level 31 titan. The last purple engram i got was for warlock armor WTF?

They really need to address this because they flat out lied to the player base.

If you grind Vanguard ROC strikes, you get a TON of legendary engrams. That more than makes up for it..
