You guys and gals know what I'm talking about? When you load up the VOG and see a group full of 30s and 31s. You go to inspect their armor, and most of it is Vanguard Light 33.
"Have you done/beaten the hard raid before?"
"Yeah all the time!"
*[b]15 minutes later[/b]*
"How do we kill the Templar?"
"What's a gorgon?"
"What side is Venus?"
"There's a Conflux at Gatekeeper?!"
"Wait, those Harpies explode?"
"Why am I detained?!"
And my favorite: "There's no revives on hard?"
People. Please be honest. Personally, I [i]love[/i] explaining the mechanics of the VOG to new people. I love helping VOG virgins through it for the first time. It's awesome.
But please don't lie about it. If you say you know what you're doing, we won't explain it because we assume you've done it.
Now, what happens if you say you've never done it and get kicked from a group? Well that's a good thing. Because those people have no tolerance and patience (and time). You don't want to raid with people like that. You want a group that is forgiving, loose, chill, and can help others.
I love helping people. But please, don't lie. It makes it easier on everybody.

I have an almost full set of raid gear (Missing Helm) on my 24 Hunter, but my 31 is Vanguard and Faction armor (Was there any other way?!?). I'm usually the relic guy unless someone else says they can do it. I love helping new people, but don't say you're 30 on destinylfg.com and then you turn out to be 29 and know nothing on HM VoG. If you want me to help you when it resets or even today, leave a message.(Hard or Norm)

Last Sunday I joined a friend to play the vog and he seemed to be the one that knew what it was going on on the raid, he was telling everyone what we had to do up to the Templar fight, from there s#it went wrong, I only completed the vog 2 times so far but I knew what we had to do so once we beat the Templar I went down to the gorgon's labyrinth and I waited for them like 3 minutes till they figured out they had to drop to the labyrinth lol, then my friend was "guiding" is through the maze saying he knew the way.....took him 1 hour to find the exit and it was just cause he youtubed it lol, then the jumping puzzle came up.....another hour till they find out how to cross it easily, by the time we reached the gatekeeper 2 guys had already departed(one of them left halfway thru the Templar fight cause somehow he died on the top platform and nobody could go all the way up to revive him) we get to the gatekeeper we kill it and they didn't know what to do in the time gates*facepalm* they were just standing on the plates and killing vexes waiting for something to happens like when you open the vault, the only guy that seem to knew what was going on stood on one gate while I ran to pick up the relic and the other 2 guys were all exited asking me how I got it lol after 1 hour of just staying there killing minions and not progressing 2 of us just left them to their fate lol I know this could've been solved if I had took the lead but English is not my first language and my spoken English just sucks and thru a mic my voice somehow sounds way different lol that's probably the main reason why I can't raid

You should be clear that you won't kick them when you ask because I was getting a group to fight Crota and the leader asked if i done it and I saw enough YouTube videos to know what to do so I lied and said yes

Had this happen just lastnight. Couple ppl said they were experienced, knew what they were doing. Raided before plenty of times So many downs, and so many questions. And I'm not completely 100% the best teacher, but I know what's going on. Trying to do my best to help. They eventually rage quit,... On normal..

I have mostly vanguard gear on my Titan but I have ran hard vog many times and still do during a gear check also look for vog weapons tho they are random drops those who run it enough will have some of them and know to use them as well

People probably lie because they are afraid of d-bags kicking them for not running it already.

I feel you. I don't mind helping people when I have the extra time. But don't lie about it and also if you have never done a raid then you should probably try in on normal first no matter what lvl you are. Another thing that annoys me is when they say they have done it then I look at their character and they have all blue guns

I agree. I have no prob bring new raiders in And helping to walk through it with them. My buddies and I have 4 manned the hard raid and can beat CROTA with 5 (haven't tried to 4 person the CROTA part yet), so bringing in someone fresh isn't an issue, but when noobies are saying they beat it many times then get killed cause they tried to punch the Templar...... No words.

21 RepliesI had this happen yesterday, no joke. We were going through on NORMAL and everyone was 30 and 31 (except my friend I was pulling who was 28) and the first problem came at the Oracles... Of course everyone already knew what to do so didn't explain anything.... "You have been marked...." Me: Who didn't shoot the Oracle? Everyone: Oh, it wasn't me..... Just kept playing and again "You have been marked..." Me: Who didn't shoot the Oracle? Everyone: Oh, it wasn't me. Me: Well in case any of you need a refresher the bright yellow lights need to be shot until they explode. SURPRISE: We didn't get marked again... I then explained Templar before we did it and told everyone to just follow me at the maze. Gatekeeper: Nobody could survive getting the Relic, and nobody knew how to hold down the middle. Ended up having the lvl 28, myself, and some other guy who messed up A LOT 12 tries....Don't forget we are on NORMAL and not hard mode... At this point I was about to throw my controller through the T.V. Now Atheon (2 hours after we started) I explain everything again because I have already figured out the group of friends with me haven't done this before but wouldn't be honest about.....and then..... Oh damn, I forgot you said the Harpies explode...tee hee hee Oh we have to shoot all the Oracles before leaving with the Relic holder, sorry I forgot....Tee Hee Hee Oh damn, I forgot the Harpies explode again....TEE HEE HEE The Relic isn't working when I hold the grenade button ( I chalked this up to a glitch for about 4 times before I went off) Now they all started listening and 3 hours after we started we finally beat it on Normal and they ask me if I wanna do Hard Mode.....um...sorry guys....gotta go.... I have helped many people do this for the first time so I have a lot of patience but when people lie as the Poster says it makes it 10x more difficult....please be honest people That being said if anyone new people or raid virgins need assistance, hit me up on PS4... My Titan still uses the vog raid helm because the vanguard and crucible ones suck having gloves and boots from crota help me enough to make me over 31 so I said screw 3 light I'll take it off when I find the crota raid helm

1 ReplyI totally agree. But I can see why people aren't honest. Too many people get shunned because they haven't had the opportunity to do the raid. The VoG has become a vangaurd strike that people want to run through with experienced people only as fast as they can with no patience for new comers. Not everyone, but they're are a lot that ruin it for others. I'm on 360, add me if you're new to the raids and you want to run through it. Let me give you a piece of SUPER GOOD ADVICE, tell the TRUTH, and if they are INVECTIVE toward you, it's only because they have no PATIENCE AND TIME.. Go through A and B and stick with PLAN C, cuz you'll have the LAST WORD and be a THORN in their side. ***GJALLARHORN, I still don't have the darn GJALLARHORN, had to fit that in there somewhere.GJALAARHORN I need, I need****

I am only missing 1 more piece of crota gear as of now. This talking down on players who use 31 gear is dumb. I get that new players have an easier pathway but not that much easier. Their grind to get to lvl 25 will take a while and they will become 31 with that gear and then raiders. Remember they need 84 shards to reach lvl 31 with the new gear. That's not going to come easy.

I'm 30, I'll run Crota's End or VoG. I'll say I'm a real noob when it comes with raids, but I know the general idea - may need some explaining though Teammates - Alright *explains and is really patient* Love this.
